WWE WrestleMania 39 Highlights: Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes, Edge beats Finn Balor inside HIAC and Bianca retained her Raw Women's Championship.
We have a collosal match starting the evening. The one-sidedness of the match continues as Omos drills Lesnar with a Chokeslam. As the Nigerian gaint goes for another chokeleslam, Lesnar escapes the hold and finally manages to lift Omos and swirl him around for the F5. Like it was the case last evening, a women's Wrestlemania showcase tag team match followes the opener. Placed second on the card may not be idea pickings for the former Women's champion but it's a Wrestlemania win for her nonetheless. Sheamus unloads on Gunther, grabbing him by the ropes and unleashing the 10 Beats of the Bodhran - albeit with a new variation. Asuka went for the green mist but Bianca ducked right in the nick of time. This is Edge's First Hell in a Cell match in 14 years having last faced The Undertaker inside this structure back at Summerslam of 2008. An alert Cody hits Roman with the Cross-Rhodes but Reigns gets his shoulder up as the crowd in the arena exploded. Meanwhile, the referee gets knocked out and it allows The Usos to intervene. As the referee comes to his conciousness, Roman getshis shoulder up and the main-event continues. It was an honour to witness such a main event and bring all the action to you.
In a shocking, deflating main event, Roman Reigns retained the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes with help from The Bloodline. Last ...
WWE is a whore for its statistics, and Roman Reigns was the beneficiary for it. Snoop Dogg came in to save the segment by knocking out The Miz and giving him a People’s Elbow. When they stared each other down in the beginning, all I could think of was every great Rocky movie. Given how restless this crowd was getting, if WWE beat Cody Rhodes tonight there might be a riot in Los Angles. Sikoa would go on to interfere again and again, with more heat every time. Drew McIntyre surprisingly got the better of GUNTHER in a heated chop-off. All other on-camera references to this movie were also booed, and that movie spent all that money on marketing for nothing. The internet wrestling snobs thumbed their nose at this match, but there are few human beings who could get the type of heat that Brock Lesnar and Omos just got for a basic opener. Shane McMahon immediately began unloading punches, and the heat temporarily died. The match promptly ended shortly thereafter as Ronda Rousey trapped Shotzi in an armbar. Asuka, a women’s tag team Fatal 4-Way and Brock Lesnar vs. Asuka’s entrance was great as well, with Asuka clones appearing.
Reigns survived by the skin of his teeth and leaves WrestleMania 39 with his record-setting world title run intact.
Rhodes crawled over to Reigns and covered the champion just as the referee recovered. Owens hit Reigns with a stunner and Zayn got a measure of revenge on the champion with a Helluva Kick that sent shockwaves through SoFi Stadium. The action took a spill to the outside as each man power-slammed the other on the ramp. An absolutely chaotic match, well fit for the rivalry involved and the Hell in a Cell moniker. Cody Rhodes: Rhodes relied on his amateur wrestling background and speed advantage to control his powerhouse opponent in the early portion of the match. Belair ducked a cloud of mist, Asuka side-stepped a hair whip, Asuka rolled into an armbar and Belair lifted Asuka into a KOD for the win. Balor was reeling in pain but managed to kick out of a spear from "The Rated R Superstar." The performers did a masterful job of telling a story of friction and feelings of betrayal between Sheamus and McIntyre. Balor found his way back into the match and drove his heels through Edge with a Coup de Grace. The champion powerbombed Sheamus onto McIntyre and subsequently powerbombed McIntyre for the win. The men's showcase match was a hard act to follow but the women put in a strong effort. The mammoth superstar tossed around Lesnar and effortlessly power-slammed him in the early portions of the match.

[After he and AEW couldn’t agree on a new contract](https://nypost.com/2022/02/15/cody-rhodes-leaves-aew-presumably-returning-to-wwe/), Rhodes returned to WWE at last year’s WrestleMania as the first major name to move from AEW to WWE. It was all a celebration of the Anoaʻi family’s Samoan dynasty in the business, raising it to its highest profile. It appeared Rhodes was on the cusp of winning, but Paul Heyman distracted the referee as The American Nightmare got ready to hit a third straight Cross Rhodes finisher.
WWE WrestleMania 39 started strong, but Night 2 needed to solidify this as an all-time great show. The talent delivered in big moments once again, making…
But WWE made the decision to not give him everything at The Show of Shows. He had a safe spot in All Elite Wrestling, even though the crowd was not always behind him. The American Nightmare looked at home in that spot on Sunday. It is time to deliver on the promise of the division or fold it completely. The two men needed to pause briefly after an unfortunate injury to the Irishman, who required medical staff to patch him up. The match itself was solid, but it was an acquired taste. WWE made the awkward decision to repeat that spot on Sunday, this time bringing out Shane McMahon. It only got worse on Sunday when McMahon leapfrogged The Miz and injured his knee. Meanwhile, three tag teams fought on Night 2 only to have Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler step in at the last moment and steal their thunder. She has been further solidified as the top woman in WWE after this latest victory. Even the arrival of Damage CTRL could not bring new excitement to the titles. Finn Bálor brought back The Demon but could not overcome a motivated Edge.
