THE certificate of entitlement (COE) prices for both car categories hit record highs in the tender exercise that closed on Wednesday (Mar 22).
In the 2nd COE bidding exercise for March 2023, Cat A closed at $93503, Cat B at $116201, Cat C at $85389, Cat D at $12001, and Cat E at $116020.
(April) Cat A (Cars up to 1600CC and 97KW) received 768 bids and and increased by $5,503.

In contrast, up until the last four to five minutes, the COE price for larger and more powerful cars was still lower than what was recorded a fortnight ago. The fall in COE premium for commercial vehicles came after the price broke records in consecutive tender exercises. At $85,389, the premium for commercial vehicle COE โ applicable to vans, trucks and lorries โ was 6.27 per cent lower than the $91,101 posted a fortnight ago.

The COE acts as a permit to own a car and is valid for 10 years. This marks the highest price seen in more than a decade, with the previous record high of S$92,100 being set in January 2013.
