Nvidia Earnings: Despite 8% afterhours bounce, NVDA stock needs ... (FXStreet)

Nvidia released Q4 earnings late Wednesday. NVDA stock immediately shot higher on EPS beat. Revenue dropped 21% YoY. Nvidia stock has risen into a resistance ...

The author makes no representations as to the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of this information. GBP/USD has extended its slide and dropped below 1.0950 in the American session on Friday. Block (SQ) stock surged 8% in Friday's premarket as the market got excited over the payments firm's mixed results. Data center revenue missed expectations in this quarter as well, but the return of Nvidia's gaming segment in Q4 seems to have saved the quarter. Gaming revenue of $1.83 billion came in well above the $1.6 billion expectation. It also does not guarantee that this information is of a timely nature. A break of $230 would have bulls eyeing $260, but I am not certain that is the easiest path at the moment. Nvidia revealed adjusted earnings per share (EPS) in the quarter ending in December of $0.88, a solid 10% ahead of analyst consensus. Nvidia's revenue was still down 21% YoY, largely due to the severe decline in gaming revenue seen over the past two quarters. [stock](https://www.fxstreet.com/markets/equities) surged 8.4% in Thursday's premarket after the premier US chip designer released fourth quarter earnings that came in ahead of Wall Street expectations.

Breakfast on Wall St: NVDA snaps streak as shares pop on cracking ... (Stockhead)

Nvidia (NVDA) dropped its Q4 and FY earnings, and the numbers were not reflective of a stock which has jumped by about half since Christmas.

“Ordinarily, I’d prefer to buy when the price is closer to my short-term uptrend ribbon, I use it as a kind of ‘value zone’. That’s no coincidence, it was the day Jerome Powell was reappointed as chairman of the Federal Reserve, and then in his acceptance speech, flipped from ultra-dove to ultra-hawk. The rest is history, as they say, and so was the prevailing bull market! “NVDA has doubled from its $108.13 bear market low, but it’s showing excellent short-term momentum to continue to move higher. Like its peers, Nvidia is shipping fewer GPUs to retailers and partners instead of slashing prices. Now it’s the status quo: the company says it’s expecting to see US$6.5 billion next quarter PC makers planetwide are getting clocked by tanking demand for computers. In fiscal Q4 2023, Nvidia forecast it’d clock just US$6 billion. With a market cap now of US$524 billion (4.16% of the Nasdaq), Nvidia is currently the number #4 Nasdaq name by market cap, ahead of Alphabet (GOOGL), Tesla (TSLA), Meta (META), Broadcom (BCOM)and Pepsico (PEP). One of the reasons this company gets the spotlight, however, is that it’s got a good many moving parts and they’re all moving in a good direction. Wednesday night’s (US time) US$6.05 billion in quarterly revenue might be down about 20%, but it’s a beat on its own guidance and the Street’s expectations and this is a company still capable of pulling US$1.4 billion in profit on a slow track. As forecast by this very publication (we were emailed), US chipmaker and curiosity of the week, Nvidia (NVDA) dropped its Q4 and FY earnings after the market closed in New York, and, as also predicted, the numbers were perhaps not reflective of a stock which has jumped by about half since Christmas.

NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA) Q4 2023 Earnings Call Transcript (AlphaStreet)

NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) Q4 2023 Earnings Call dated Feb. 22, 2023.

And the reason for that is this AI, the production of intelligence is going to be manufacturing. Can you give us some insight into what that looks like in the next few years, and to the extent that some of your customers with these large language models are talking about 100x the complexity over that kind of time frame. And the reason I ask is because I found it interesting, your comments in your script, where you mentioned that your kind of view about the demand that generative AI is going to drive for your products are and now services, it seems to be a lot better than what you thought just over the last 90 days or so. And I guess we’re all talking about the drivers of the services and the compute that you’re going to host on top of these services with the different hyperscalers. So it seems like the incremental TAM is easily in the several hundreds, thousands of GPUs and easily in the tens of billions of dollars, but I’m kind of wondering what this does to the TAM numbers you gave last year. They stuck with it and the accumulation of all of the breakthroughs led to a service with a model inside that surprised everybody with its versatility and its capability. But the surprising capability of a single AI model that can perform tasks and skills that it was never trained to do. I think the universality of our of our computing, accelerated computing platform, the fact that we’re in every cloud, the fact that we are from cloud to edge makes our architecture really quite accessible and very differentiated. In this way and most importantly, to all the service providers because of the utilization is so high, because you can use it to accelerate the end-to-end workload and get such good throughput our architecture is the lowest operating cost. There’s a pre-processing part of it and a post-processing part of that to turn it into a application or service. Moving to the rest of the P&L, GAAP gross margin was 63.3% and non-GAAP gross margin was 66.1%. The second is the number of large language models or foundation models that have to be developed is quite large.
