Tyrese Haliburton had a double-double of 22 point sand 14 assists for the team. The Cavaliers lost Thursday's home game after the poor-performing fourth quarter during which they missed 13 of their 19 FG attempts while committing five turnovers. Nikola Jokic had his 22nd triple-double of the season after dropping 24 points, 18 rebounds and 13 assists for the Nuggets at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio, on Thursday. Ty Jerome had 20 points and three assists. When the Warriors had to struggle in half-court offense in most of their possessions, it's not surprising that they shot below 40 percent from the field. However, they were beaten by the Lakers on this front as well, not only because the purple and gold could match the Warriors in speed, but also because their big men's rebounding efforts made it difficult for the Warriors to launch fast break in the first place. The Warriors were not only small, but wretchedly lacking spacing as both Kuminga and Draymond Green were often left open at the 3-point line. The Warriors started with a mini squad in which the biggest one is 2.01-meter-tall Jonathan Kuminga. Even though he turned 38 years old in late December 2022, James has averaged 30 points this season, matching the third-highest of his career, while having 8.4 rebounds and seven assists. The competition was long gone early in the fourth quarter as the purple and gold extended their lead to over 20 points two minutes into this period. /CFP

The Timberwolves will visit the Lakers on March 3, 2023, and that game now appears to be sooner than D’Angelo Russell will be back from injury. But part of that presumption was his arriving in time to help turn the Lakers season around. Russell has played all of four games for the Lakers since that trade, but with his injury, he could be looking at missing anywhere from six games to 15 games.
As LeBron James and Anthony Davis had down nights, Malik Beasley and the bench stepped up to lead the Lakers to a decisive win.

[Memphis](https://theathletic.com/nba/team/grizzlies/) (35-23) and [Oklahoma City](https://theathletic.com/nba/team/thunder/) (28-30). It appears, however, that the Lakers’ plan is to get James and Davis to play as many of the remaining 22 games as possible. He doesn’t want the Lakers to get ahead of themselves and overlook an opponent or lose because they’re unprepared, sabotaging the recent progress they’ve made as a group. Davis believes resting in blowout wins is “very huge” and will allow him and James to shoulder a larger burden later in the season — i.e. “We have guys in that second unit that have been in the starting lineup, and played starter’s minutes, and closed games for us, and had big moments in big games.
