Russell has played all of four games for the Lakers since that trade, but with his injury, he could be looking at missing anywhere from six games to 15 games.

D'Angelo Russell “Not Worried” About Ankle Injury (hoopsrumors.com)

In his fourth game back with the Lakers on Thursday, point guard D'Angelo Russell exited in the first quarter due to a right ankle sprain and didn't return.

Russell stayed in the game until the next whistle and was subbed out with 3:12 remaining in the quarter. Although the Lakers are waiting for more clarity on Russell’s prognosis, they managed to defeat the Warriors without their starting point guard available for the last three quarters on Thursday –they’re now within 1.5 games of Golden State for the No. Los Angeles has won three of four games since the trade deadline and looks like a more serious threat to make the playoffs with its revamped lineup. “Pretty unlucky for me.” However, the veteran guard will undergo further evaluation on Friday to assess the severity of the injury and determine whether he’ll have to miss time. For his part, Russell didn’t sound concerned about a lengthy absence.

Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell suffered a fluke ankle injury in the win over the Warriors, and while X-rays were negative he could miss a game or two.

And Kessler is a lock for First Team All-Rookie. Memphis is a team on the cusp, but they need to clean up these areas. The other concern is their road record — they have lost eight straight away from the FedEx Forum and fell to 11-18 on the road. In front of a raucous crowd the 76ers played one of their best quarters of the season against a quality opponent, went on a 22-8 run, closing the game on a 10-1 run to pick up the win. Late-game offensive struggles are not new to this team and it’s something that could send them home early in the playoffs if not fixed. Despite his possible absence, the Lakers still have Dennis Schroder to replace him in any game Russell misses. He is still quite eager to prove himself on the team he loves the most since he was a kid. This is a positive report on the injury but doctors still asked for patience and want the player to take his recovery day-by-day. A status that is deemed 'day-to-day' is not encouraging for Lakers fans who wanted to see Russell coming back for the next game. [Lakers ](https://www.marca.com/en/basketball/nba/los-angeles-lakers.html?intcmp=MENUPROD&s_kw=en-nba-los-angeles-lakers)still ended up winning the game with dominance but they really need a player like Russell, especially after Westbrook and Beverley's exits during the trade deadline.
