Today Is the Day to Declare 'Fail Fast February' (Inc.com)

Energy levels flagging as winter wears on? Try turning February into a month of experimentation and progress.

It's to [make a lot of wonky art](https://www.inc.com/jessica-stillman/skill-building-new-years-resolution-austin-kleon-adam-grant.html), exercising your skills and slowly honing in on excellence along the way. [fail at our resolutions](https://www.inc.com/jessica-stillman/resolution-failing-already-swap-it-for-a-word-of-year.html) and realize this year isn't going to be magically easier or different than past ones. It might not always feel like it, but [failure can move us in a positive direction](https://www.inc.com/jessica-stillman/5-mindset-blocks-that-stop-you-from-learning-from-your-mistakes.html), she points out. It's to But we can change how we think about failure. "Sometimes the key to success is failing spectacularly and quickly -- then continuously iterating on a solution until it succeeds. Which is why Ringel suggests declaring the month "fail fast February." [run lots of low-stakes experiments or pilot projects](https://www.inc.com/jessica-stillman/want-to-love-your-career-and-make-more-money-think-smaller.html) and see what works and what doesn't. Here's the idea, which she frames as an initiative for business leaders: [share your own most disastrous failure](https://www.inc.com/jessica-stillman/the-1-mistake-that-will-totally-sabotage-your-leadership.html) and what you learned from it, or commit your company to piloting a certain number of out-of the-box ideas during the course of the month. The February Drop: Find your true love, be it Scrabble or silent films (wgbh.org)

Be your best self this month with these free and cheap-ish things to do around Boston.

If you’ve got an impressionable and curious youth in your charge, then thank heavens, for the Museum of Science, which wants us to understand our world just a little bit better. There used to be a time, before an artist was scheduled to drop a new album, that people would gather in one place to hear bits and pieces of the soon to be released project. The Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Athenæum are teaming up to present a program that, in all technicality, could be described as a multimedia experience. Nonetheless, if you can make the (shortish) Saturday morning trip out to the Harbor Islands, and join the assembly on the drumlins of World’s End, you’ll be doing a most noble service to the park. Maybe you discovered a small thing for board games early on in our pandemic decade. In February, they’ll be posting up at Lamplighter Broadway on back-to-back Sundays, feeding mouths for a set three hour period, or until the kitchen is empty. The Boston native has once again assembled her trio, including pianist Neil Pearlman and violist Shauncey Ali, to commit a new set of Celtic tunes to wax. Please, stay hydrated and moisturized, for this cold air is no friend to your skin, and the air indoors can be quite dry. Composer and educator Jeff Rapsis will be providing music to accompany the screening. Maybe I should go on a hike, or volunteer to take care of a local park. Keep that same energy for the other 27 days of the month and care about you. It’s a time to show that special someone that you care about them.

Will there be a happy February? (CMC Markets)

The Fed may have booked a new-month rally on Wall Street, but keep caution on the inflation trajectory. Wall Street had a strong month in January, ...

However, the three-month sharp rebound in the Chinese shares may face a near-term pullback risk as the equity markets may have already priced in the reopening optimism. From a tactical perspective, oil prices were moving in a positive correlation with inflation due to the war-intensified undersupply in early 2022. Gold formed its bottom-up pattern in November gaining for the third consecutive month in January, up about 21% from the November low of just above $1,600 per ounce to above $1,960 in early February. The surge in the New Zealand dollar lost some steam in January as markets seem to be suspicious about whether the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) will remain hawkish in its rate hikes after the country’s unemployment rate is seen to rise to 3.4% from 3.3%, which is the highest since the third quarter in 2022. The Australian markets remained robust in January, with the ASX 200 up 6%, buoyed by the strong performance of the miner stocks amid record output numbers and positive guidance. Shall a further cool in the consumer price, the Fed may further scale back rate hikes and possibly pause the cycle after March, which could buoy the risk assets further before its next meeting in March.
