Elliott strike sends Liverpool past Wolves in FA Cup replay (Reuters)

A thumping strike from Harvey Elliott was enough to give FA Cup holders Liverpool a 1-0 win away to Wolverhampton Wanderers in a third-round replay on ...

"It feels like ages ago we had a feeling of winning and playing well. "Milly (Milner) was screaming 'shoot' as well so I had to go for it. Bristol City knocked out Swansea City, prevailing 2-1 away from home after extra time.

Jürgen Klopp relieved at 'important sign' for Liverpool in win over ... (The Guardian)

Liverpool's manager said he believed the FA Cup third-round replay would help restore belief at the club after their dire defeat to Brighton.

We have to fight and whoever is ready to fight has a good chance to play.” We were compact, we were together, we had really good challenges, when we got the ball we played really good football and we scored an exceptional goal. I said to the boys that is how it feels when you play well and win. We are not in a casting show but the door is open to everyone. The game was much different to the last one obviously. If we had played another game like the last one I am not sure what the people would have thought before they arrived in the stadium.

Klopp's kids lift the gloom: Liverpool winners, losers and ratings as ... (Goal.com)

There were strong performances from the youngsters, with Elliott the match-winner and 18-year-old Stefan Bajcetic outstanding at the base of the Reds' midfield.

Milner stepped in when he could, dropped off when he had to, and talked his younger colleagues through the game throughout. Starting at right-back, the veteran showed all of his nous, experience and quality to keep the lively Rayan Ait-Nouri in check. Elliott won the ball, and subsequently a throw-in to relieve the pressure on his side. It was, as much as Elliott's 13th-minute goal - and what a hit that was, by the way - a moment to sum up Liverpool's night. It was no surprise that Klopp opted to reshuffle his midfield after the disaster-class at Brighton, but to put his faith in a teenager making only his third professional start shows just how desperate the situation has become, and just how highly-rated the young Spaniard is. The celebration said it all, and it wasn't even for a goal.

Fenway Sports Group increasingly likely to sell minority stake in ... (The Athletic)

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group are increasingly likely to sell a minority stake in the club rather than sanction a full takeover.

However, Klopp retains the full support of the ownership group, who believe injuries have been a major factor in the team’s struggles. Their current preference is to sell a small portion of the club but they insist that nothing is imminent on that front. Senior FSG sources have dismissed recent speculation that they are on the brink of selling Liverpool to a Qatari consortium or anyone else.

[likeliest outcome ](https://theathletic.com/4102709/2023/01/18/fenway-sports-group-liverpool-minority-stake/?source=emp_shared_article)is FSG will part ways with a ‘minority stake’ in the club. [ Jude Bellingham as the headline attraction in a midfield overhaul](https://www.teamtalk.com/liverpool/trusted-reporter-names-top-two-targets-klopp-wants-new-midfield-partnership-ponders-formation-change) next summer, any outside investment will be warmly greeted on Merseyside. In that scenario, John W. However, in the event FSG get their wish and do receive outside investment, the likeliest scenario is Liverpool’s purse strings in the market would be loosened. The American owners bought the Reds for £300m back in 2010, though the value of the club has increased ten-fold to around £3billion in the 12 years since.

Real Madrid Vs. Liverpool Is Already Make Or Break (Forbes)

With both clubs experiencing some on-field turbulence recently, the upcoming Champions League encounter appears definitive, even at this early stage.

That is huge for both teams, and especially Liverpool, striving to be in the money again next season and eyeing European glory as the way to do so. When Real and Liverpool meet on February 21, the January window will be a distant memory. But an aggregate win over Liverpool—a sixth consecutive net victory over the opposition—would lay an ideal path to a 15th title. Advancing would lift the confidence required to go all the way. It could be a do-or-die occasion, and there’s much more to analyze. Squeezing into the Premier League top four places and snatching an unlikely trophy is the best it can achieve.

[at least one team](https://twitter.com/InfogolApp) has been relegated with a better defensive record than Klopp's current side in each Premier League season since 2014. Without the ball, on the other hand, it is close to relegation standard. Even despite Liverpool ranking ninth in the table at present, its attacking numbers suggest it is good enough to compete for the title. The problem, however, was that Klopp had to sacrifice his attack in the process. This season, Liverpool have stopped doing the basics in a defensive sense, but on Tuesday night, that wasn't the case. For the first time since the start of 2023, Liverpool tasted victory on Tuesday night.
