I have a feeling we’re suddenly back in 2021 and Thailand is moving backwards rather than forward just to please the Chinese, something that could very well backfire in a very bad way. Penalties for missed flights and cancellations will, in all likelihood, be at the passenger’s expense. But those are the rules that have to be played by if one wants to visit Thailand from now on until further notice. Passengers coming from countries with measures to prevent people infected with COVID from returning to the country must have health insurance covering COVID treatment throughout the duration of the trip in Thailand. Airlines must adhere to relevant requirements and follow guidelines as appropriate, such as asking passengers to wear masks throughout the journey. If the Passenger is unable to present these documents, the carrier must refuse the passenger to board. All these dates and information are based on information obtained through Richard Barrow’s sources and foreign diplomatic missions. This means that flights departing on Sunday night and arriving after midnight would be affected as well. In short: This is all a CYA, dog & pony show that has nothing to do with public health and safety. Thailand relaxed its requirement for foreigners to be vaccinated in order to travel to the Kingdom last November. Now all of a sudden, this is supposed to be required again without any advance warning. First of was January 7 (today) which came and went, then January 8th (tomorrow).

Additionally, anyone who is traveling onward from Thailand to a country that requires a negative Covid test for entry (such as China) must demonstrate proof of health insurance covering Covid. A better way to handle the reactionary move of re-instating restrictions just for Chinese visitors that many countries are following right now would have been to keep Thailand restriction-free for visitors from all nations. According to Anutin Charnvirakul, the Public Health Minister of Thailand, the move to bring back restrictions for all travelers comes after many countries that were previously open to all travelers with no restrictions started re-imposing restrictions just for Chinese travelers. Covid Entry Restrictions In Thailand As China Border Reopens ... (The Sentinel Assam)

According to the sources, adults are asked to provide evidence of at least two vaccines or proof of their recovery from the virus since July.

As China rapidly abandons its zero-tolerance measures, restoring the nation to the outside world and eliminating quarantine for arrivals beginning on January 8, entrance conditions are once again implemented in an effort to stop the spread of Covid-19. India is one of the countries that recently reinstituted the Covid entrance requirements, and this month it started requiring travellers from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand to take the Covid-19 tests. Up to January 31st, the regulations are in effect.

Thailand Reintroduces Vaccination Requirement For Foreign Arrivals (Simple Flying)

In a notice on Saturday, Thailand announced that it is reintroducing entry restrictions for all foreign nationals entering the country.

With [China](https://simpleflying.com/tag/china/) reopening its border today, Thailand is expecting an influx of visitors but is still hoping to control imported cases. Thailand is expecting 300,000 Chinese arrivals in the first quarter of 2023 alone, setting up a giant task of preventing fresh cases. If you've traveled in the last three years, you may be familiar with the process of proving your vaccine status. However, the imposition could lead to stricter rules if cases in the country begin to spike. Exemptions have been included for those who have had COVID in the last six months (negative at least 7 days before travel), all travelers under 18, and Thai nationals and legal residents covered by the state healthcare system. After dropping all COVID restrictions late last year, Thailand has become the latest country to add travel entry rules for foreign arrivals.

Consider the PDS and TMD (AU) or Policy Document (NZ) available on our website.
