Arsenal vs West Ham: Predicted lineup, injury news, head-to-head (Khel Now)

Premier League leaders Arsenal will take on West Ham United on Boxing Day as club football resumes. Here are the previews of the teams.

If they lose, it will be the first time since the 2006-07 season that they’ve lost 10 of their first 16 Premier League matches. Kurt Zouma will be unable to play in this match due to knee surgery he underwent at the end of November. Gabriel Jesus had a knee injury at the World Cup that necessitated surgery and will likely keep him out until February. - West Ham risks losing four straight Premier League games for the first time since the beginning of the 2018-19 season. The task for him now is to get back to his best for West Ham. Saka has had a good start to the league season, with four goals and six assists. He is still young enough to play in the next World Cup, and Gareth Southgate will be keeping a close eye on him ahead of Euro 2024 qualification. The absence of Jesus will put additional on the rest of the assault to perform. He will, however, be disappointed to have missed the World Cup. Due to the presence of Eddie Nketiah, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli will be required to take on more creative roles. The Gunners exceeded all expectations in the first half of the season, leading the league by five points as the season came to a close. Fans got a taste of Arteta-ball at a warm-weather training camp in Dubai, however, as Arsenal won the Dubai Super Cup.

Arsenal lineups vs West Ham as Saliba and Tierney start, Tomiyasu ... (Football.London)

football.london'sGunners writers decide how they think Mikel Arteta's side should line up for as Arsenal return to Premier League action against West Ham ...

He should be flanked by Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli who each played 45 minutes in the final behind-closed-doors friendly against Luton Town. Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes and Kieran Tierney complete the rest of the defence. Furthermore, Kieran Tierney is the ideal replacement at left-back and there's evidence he is beginning to feel a lot more comfortable playing the inverted role. I guess the big decision facing Mikel Arteta is who starts alongside Gabriel Magalhaes in central defence as the rest of the team pretty much picks itself. With Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli alongside him however, he has plenty more aid than he has been getting in the Europa League. With Thomas Partey unscathed from the tournament too Arteta’s midfield is at full power and critical to the season’s hopes. Up front I'd go for Gabriel Martinelli on the left and Bukayo Saka on the right. As Oleksandr Zinchenko hasn't featured in any of the warm-up games I wouldn't risk him against West Ham. There may be some players tired after the World Cup, but there is a Premier League title at stake and no one can afford to drop any points. Last season he answered many but over time and after losing his place to the brilliant Jesus those worries have only grown. That means Aaron Ramsdale starts in goal for me and I'd look to use his England teammate Ben White at right-back. Thankfully for the Spaniard, football.london's Arsenal writers Kaya Kaynak, Tom Canton, Tashan Deniran-Alleyne and Bailey Keogh are on hand to offer their assistance.

Arsenal vs West Ham Premier League match preview: Back in action (The Short Fuse)

The league picks back up after the World Cup break as the Gunners look to return to winning ways.

Nothing would please many of them more than for Arsenal to look a little leggy and tired, but if this season has shown us anything, it’s that if the players trust the process, everything finds a way of working itself out. In the stead of Jesus will be Eddie Nketiah, whose showing at the end of last season earned him a new contract and the no. The silver lining of so few Arsenal players making it deep into the World Cup means that they have nearly all returned to full training. The Gunners were in the midst of an historic run of form to begin the season with 12 wins from 14, and momentum is a fickle mistress. The Hammers are a side that Mikel Arteta has had consistent success against since taking over for Unai Emery three years ago, as he has won all but one of the six matches against West Ham since he has been in charge, a lone draw the only blemish against the cross town competitors. Although nothing has been shared, it’s a further blow to an attacking line that was already missing Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Jesus as the World Cup break wrapped up.

Arsenal vs West Ham United Preview: Probable Lineups, Prediction ... (The Hard Tackle)

Premier League action resumes for Arsenal when they host London rivals West Ham United at the Emirates as Mikel Arteta seeks to keep momentum.

The somewhat weakened backline will lead to a defeat to Arsenal for West Ham at the Emirates. The Gunners have had a bad record conceding goals at the Emirates this season, and that streak may continue to trouble Aaron Ramsdale’s goal. David Moyes will rue the absence of some of his key defenders for such an important game. Nketiah was a wonderful presence in this Arsenal side during the final phase of last season, scoring some crucial goals. David Moyes also has plenty of potential absentees to contend with ahead of the Emirates visit. Much of the talk in Gabriel Jesus’s absence has revolved around whether Nketiah can sufficiently fill the Brazilian’s shoes. Arteta confirmed Emile Smith Rowe would be absent from the West Ham United game following a minor setback in his recovery. The eight-week World Cup-enforced break is about to end, and Arsenal will be back in action at the Emirates on Boxing Day when they host London rivals West Ham United. The Arsenal manager is set to place his trust in Eddie Nketiah again. Compared to the UEFA Europa League group-stage games, he will have better quality around him in Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Beyond the Brazilian, Arteta still has plenty of injuries to contend with, with another five players out or highly doubtful. Arteta will hope his team resumes from where they left off and dispatch a West Ham United reeling from several problems.

FIFA 23 predicts that Arsenal could make a winning return to Premier League action on Boxing Day, with the Gunners beating West Ham 3-1 in this simulation. Arteta's side were able to withhold the pressure, and they secured the three points in the 89th minute with a great counterattacking goal. Xhaka stayed onside as he patiently waited for a ball forward, and Fabio Vieira picked out the midfielder in the box who drilled past the 'keeper to make it 3-1. It was the Hammers' first shot of the game, but Arsenal responded perfectly, regaining the lead with 25 minutes to go. As West Ham enjoyed a period of possession, Arsenal exposed their high line, with a long ball forward setting Martinelli free down the left. The pause to club football probably came at the wrong time for Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta's side suffering a major injury blow during the World Cup.

Premier League leaders Arsenal host West Ham in a London derby on Boxing Day, as Mikel Arteta's men aim to get off to a flying start to the restart.

There was a 3-0 thumping of Crystal Palace in mid-October that bought him some extra time, though back-to-back defeats to 13th-place Leicester and 14th-place Bournemouth would seem to indicate that Everton are indeed serious relegation candidates this season. The lack of goals, points and wins cost Bruno Lage the Wolves job after just eight games, eventually replaced by Julen Lopetegui following a lengthy managerial search. Yerry Mina gave Everton the lead after just seven minutes, when Dwight McNeil found the big Colombian defender with a corner kick to the near post. Palace will hope that rest has cured the many bruises Zaha’s taken over the course of this young season. Palace went from 10 to nine men in the 57th minute, when James Tomkins was shown a second yellow card for elbowing Mitrovic as he sprinted in on goal. Palace (19 points), meanwhile, remain in 11th where they began Boxing Day. Emery’s appointment marked a definitive turning point not only in terms of results, but the performance and tactical competence of a side that had won just three of 13 games and conceded 20 goals prior to his arrival. Firmino, who scored just five PL goals in 20 appearances last season, only became a regular starter once again after Sadio Mane left for Bayern Munich in the summer, and Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota suffered injuries that limited them to just 12 appearances between them. 1 and guided Villa to back-to-back wins of their own, over 5th-place Manchester United and 7th-place Brighton, to land 12th in the table after 15 games. West Ham need Declan Rice to bring his World Cup form to the Premier League, while Jarrod Bowen has looked sharp in their midseason games. Arsenal’s midfield duo of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka are so key, while there will be a lot of pressure on Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli and Fabio Vieira to plug the gap left by the injury to Jesus. Kick off is fast approaching and the Arsenal fans are properly up for this one.

The Brazil winger's delivery is excellent from the free-kick, it glances off a West Ham defender but Eddie Nketiah is a little too flat-footed to capitalise. 5 mins from kickoff: The teams are in the tunnel. Bukayo Saka boots the corner right under Lukasz Fabianski's bar but the West Ham goalkeeper gets a solid punch on it. Ramsdale tumbles to his left and Benrahma lifts his kick down the middle. Lucas Paqueta wins a free-kick to earn them some respite and looks for Michail Antonio with a clever pass over the top. It had been a pretty poor start to the half for Arsenal and that's a huge shot in the arm for them. 88th minute: A lot of the travelling West Ham contingent have made their way to the exits. The England winger does well to control the ball and Vladimir Coufal is loitering to play him onside for a cool finish. The Brazil international drills a true strike to the near post and Lukasz Fabianski can't stop it with his boot. Martin Odegaard and Granit Xhaka are involved, with the latter working the ball to Martinelli. Goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah meant all of the front three were on target in Gabriel Jesus' injury absence. West Ham’s only attacking joy had come from direct balls down the Arsenal left and the penalty arose from one of those situations.
