Emily in Paris' third season returns with Lily Collins' Emily Cooper making the biggest choice of her career. Read Pinkvilla's early review of the first ...
Based on the first episode of Emily in Paris Season 3, the show returns with its zany, dramatic and at times tonally scattered storyline. The popcorn entertainment value of the series remains intact as it takes us back to the chaotic world of Emily Cooper. In fact, to set off the existential crisis that settles in with every year-ending phase, it's best to watch something breezy and in those terms, Emily in Paris fits perfectly as a holiday season watch. The themes this season seem better though in terms of Emily's character trying to find what's best for her as opposed to her chasing after the idea of a life in Paris, unattainable men like Gabriel or anything else. It's the end of the year and hence now is not the time to watch all those true crime documentaries and mind-bending thrillers. Whether it's just the charm of Parisian locations or the costume department's challenge to make Emily Cooper the new generation Carrie Bradshaw in terms of street fashion, the show has continued to grab eyeballs.

In the end, Emily continues to put work above her relationship, which ultimately drives Alfie away.

While we feel the drama lacks in bits and pieces, the show is indeed a treat for fashion lovers, if nothing else. Season 3 is mostly about her decision to stay back in Paris and work for Sylvie or move back to Chicago for a promising job with her American boss, Madeline. For the unaware, Emily In Paris is the story of a girl, whose clothes will make you question your income, who does everything wrong and suddenly works around it and turns out to be the best in the room. Emily travels every weekend, goes on nightouts with her best friend, wears the most high-end clothes, but stays in an ordinary apartment in Paris with her best friend, whom she by chance happens to meet at a park. The past two seasons of the show have been a rage and the third season just dropped on December 21. As she tries to work her way around her job and love, let's see if the third season 3 has lived up to past expectations.

"You are the talk of the town in that dress! in journalism and a minor in business management. "YOU LOOK SO GOOD," one person exclaimed in the comments. Back in December 2020, Lily shocked everyone when she showed up at the MTV Movie and TV Awards: Greatest of All Time event wearing a look that was daring even for the character she plays in the dramedy. Her dark hair was pulled back into a sleek bun and she wore neutral makeup with minimal jewelry to offset the entire ensemble. Costume designer Marylin Fitoussi explains what, where and how to shop like Emily Cooper in season 3 of 'Emily in Paris.'
Collins herself is partial to this Dolce & Gabbana look, which, she tells ELLE.com, “looks kind of like a zebra and an elephant combined with the little micro shorts.” Emily styles them with a set of eye-popping Louboutin platforms, which were mere prototypes at the time Collins wore them. During an event with Maison Lavaux and McLaren, Emily dons this Giuseppedi Morabito mini with a voluminous lavender jacket to welcome guests to the party. “I can have a feeling if I get it wrong, or if she prefers that, or if she has also any suggestions,” she says. We can see that this love-hate game between both of them means that Sylvie is now taking some color of this young and a little bit arrogant young American ... You need to be unique and you need to be yourself. “Try to see beauty everywhere because every piece can be interesting,” she says. “In Paris, if you take the metro in the morning, everybody’s totally in black,” she says. The resulting silhouette is as good a guidepost as any when it comes to styling a lá Emily: Find mixed patterns and textures that share a color family, then layer them on with glee. The resulting look is so joyful it feels counterintuitive to watch our protagonist struggle with indecision. Chic knits are indeed a Parisian staple, but trust Emily to shred the rulebook with iridescent shorts and lime-green knee-high boots from Maison Skorpios. Lily Collins, Ashley Park & Camille Razat discuss the Season 3 finale of Emily in Paris and where their characters are headed.
And even when we don’t see her performing, and we see her after her performances, later in the season, we still have this persona going on, which is fun. But the thing is, Emily’s boldness of choice, and bright and bubbly personality, has definitely allowed me to explore more with my fashion sense and take more risks with things I didn’t think necessarily would work for me. It’s almost a question of life and death, how she’s trying to figure it out – her friendship with Emily, with Mindy, how she’s gonna be in this group, and how she will choose her own path. I remember doing one of the scenes that was confrontational, in the last episode, way before I knew what was happening in the last episode. It allowed me, as Emily, to feel a little bit more grounded, as a character, knowing that the comedy wasn’t just about me and my experiences and the culture clash. We got to have a lot of fun, in creating this jazz club persona of what her performances would be like. What did each of you most enjoy about what you got to do in your character’s journey, this season? I think we have a fine balance between communicating about where things are headed, but they don’t often know until the stories break in the room, and they’re having that experience in the writers’ room while we’re filming. It was definitely a nail-biting experience, to figure out how to bring in the nuances of each of those moments because they could be played so many different ways. When you read the script for that last episode for the first time, what was the reaction each of you had? At least the three of us don’t ever get to be in that location together. At the same time, while Emily is immersing herself even deeper in and growing more attached to Paris, each of the other characters also reach their own turning points, some of which could be life-altering.

Thus far, critics have not been impressed by the third season of 'Emily in Paris'. "A protagonist doesn’t have to be likable, but she does have to be watchable, and Emily has been nearly unwatchable in the first two seasons. The show follows her struggles in her workplace as she falls in love and has to face the cultural values of a country that is quite different from her conservative upbringing.
