Raphael Varane went down late on in the World Cup final, having started six of France's seven games in Qatar.

The nine United players who suffered elimination from the World Cup quarter-finals are due back tomorrow. Both are definitely unavailable for the League Cup fourth round tie against Burnley on Tuesday but could return at Wolves on New Year's Eve. United players arrived at 8.30am for training on Sunday morning and some players left at 3pm. France and Argentina's progression to the World Cup final effectively rules out Varane and Lisandro Martinez from selection for the Premier League visit of Nottingham Forest on December 27.
