The incumbent Chief Minister is seeking a second term in Himachal Pradesh by contesting from the Seraj constituency in the Mandi district. In the State capital, Shimla, Harish Janartha of Congress is currently leading with 1724, and BJP’s Sanjay Sood is trailing with 1146 votes in the recently held assembly elections. The latest trends of vote counting in Himachal Pradesh disclose that BJP is leading the elections at 30 seats, while Congress is trailing behind with 28 of the 68 seats in the hilly State. He has served as State youth Congress president and is now the general secretary of the State Congress committee and in-charge of communications. Similarly, Congress candidate Sudhir Sharma is leading in the Dharamshala constituency with 6338 votes while Rakesh Kumar of BJP is trailing with 3584 votes, as per the latest trends by the ECI. With a tight contest between the bigwigs, the BJP and Congress, it’s important to note that Independents are leading in four seats in the State. Kumari is among the Chief Ministerial probable in case the Congress wins the assembly elections. The leader of opposition in the State assembly has defeated Mr. Agnihotri’s supporters are clamouring for their leader to be made the Chief Ministerial candidate of the Congress in case the party wins. In Himachal Pradesh, early trends, which indicated a close fight, showed that the Congress was ahead in 37 of the 68 seats followed by the BJP, which was leading in 28 seats and was hoping to buck the anti-incumbency trend witnessed in the hill state for nearly four decades. According to the Election Commission’s result trends, at 11:45 a.m., the Congress was leading in 38 assembly constituencies, while BJP was leading in 27 seats. Amid the high-stake electoral contest for the 68-member Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the early election result trends on December 8 showed that the State was heading for a clear mandate in favour of the Congress party.

After leading on six seats in the Gujarat Assembly polls, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh said that the party has been able to penetrate into the "bastion of the BJP" and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. People have made up their minds to further continue with the journey of development in Gujarat, says Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel. BJP has won 76 seats and leading in 82 in Gujarat, the Election Commission of India's latest data said. Himachal Election Results 2022: Congress has won 10 seats and is currently leading on another 29 while BJP has bagged 9 and leads on 17 others. He says it is a bumper win and the party will win over 150 seats. Gujarat Election 2022: BJP has won the Morbi assembly seat, where a bridge collapse in October killed 130-plus people. The BJP has been in power in the state for the last five years. The results are in line with exit poll numbers which had predicted a majority for the BJP in Gujarat and a close fight in Himachal. Exit polls had predicted a landslide win for the ruling BJP in Gujarat and a tough fight in Himachal.

The vote share difference for the winning Congress and the BJP in Himachal Pradesh was less than one per cent, a point also noted by PM Modi.
