Serena Williams, Justin Timberlake are among big-name investors ... (CNBC)

Some of the biggest names in sports are investing in Tiger Woods' and Rory McIlroy's new company as they look to the future of professional golf.

TMRW Sports' first project is its TGL golf league, which was launched in partnership with the PGA Tour this summer and comes as professional golf is being disrupted by the arrival of upstart league LIV Golf. They are also looking at ways technology could enhance the game, such as a virtual course that will bring the game indoors, eliminate worries about weather conditions and provide real-time stats. McCarley said they are recruiting others and will be making additional player announcements soon. McCarley said the company sought investors who were passionate about golf and would represent a diversity of expertise and backgrounds in media and entertainment. TMRW Sports is looking to draw in younger sports fans with a format that makes the golf league more compatible with prime-time television. Tiger Woods' and Rory McIlroy's new sports startup — which is already planning a new golf league — is drawing some big-name investors.

New 24/7 Streaming Network Places Women's Sports First (Forbes)

As the market opens up, companies like The Gaming Society and [SheBettor](https://www.shebettor.com/) are focused on welcoming women and women’s sports fans to sports betting. We at the Women's Sports Network think women's sports is great business,” McLean told me during a video call Monday. And decisions like that might fulfill McLean and Stiff’s desire to change the industry. [Gaming Today](https://www.gamingtoday.com/news/evolution-betting-womens-sports/) reported that at DraftKing, bets on women’s sports are up 61% year-over-year, and their overall handle, the amount of money in wagers accepted, on women’s sports is up 22%. After a soft launch, the Women’s Sports Network is officially live today. GAME ON also has what the program calls a “fourth chair” reserved for athletes, commissioners, and women’s sports influencers making a guest appearance. To that end, McLean and Stiff recruited what may be The Dream Team of advisors. At the Women’s Sports Network, women’s sports are primetime, all the time,” McLean said in today’s press release. And now's the time,” Stiff told me. The network is a streaming network built like a cable network, FAST Studios CEO Stuart McLean told me ahead of the public launch. We have an opportunity to leverage the new FAST landscape to become a part of the solution. In just the last few days, CBS Sports announced that the 2022 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Championship earned the highest viewership in league history.

"Fox has got a far-reaching audience so it does make sense, if you're going to launch (sports betting) into the U.S., that you have that Fox network, distribution and partnership," said John Ayoub, a portfolio manager at Sydney-based Wilson Asset Management, which owns News Corp's Australian-listed shares. The matter is the subject of an arbitration case and Lachlan Murdoch told investors a decision is expected imminently. The sports betting app Fox Bet is available in four states, with just 0.2% share of the U.S. The company soon paid $236 million for a 5% stake in Toronto online bookmaker the Stars Group which helped launch Fox Bet and owns the app. News Corp has previously stumbled in sports betting. That does not necessarily mean the pace of legalized sports betting is slowing. states and the District of Columbia have legalized sports betting, though the pace has slowed. Kantar Sports analyst Ryan McConnell said the market is flooded with new entrants and consolidation appears likely. [(FLTRF.L)](https://www.reuters.com/companies/FLTRF.L), acquired Stars Group in 2020. As recently as August, Lachlan Murdoch described sports betting as "a huge opportunity" for Fox Sports, telling Wall Street it would fuel viewer engagement. There are other factors motivating the merger including a bid to achieve greater scale in news, live sports and information, sources said. "The proposal is 100% based on business rationale," a spokesman for Rupert Murdoch told Reuters.
