The game is being developed using Unreal Engine, and there is even a first teaser trailer. Yes, a remake of perhaps the most popular part of the game, Silent Hill 2, is currently in development.

Silent Hill's return shows Konami is taking games seriously again (Polygon)

With Silent Hill 2 remake, Silent Hill f, Silent Hill: Townfall and more — and through bold partnerships with the likes of No Code, Annapurna, ...

[GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1323470/GetsuFumaDen_Undying_Moon/), a well received update of a vintage Konami game, and the apparent care taken with the forthcoming [Suikoden 1 and 2 remasters](https://www.polygon.com/23356523/suikoden-1-and-2-remasters-trailer-ps4-xbox-one-pc-switch) — but the Silent Hill Transmission all but makes it official: Konami, as an entity that seems to care about making cool video games, is back. When news first broke that Bloober Team (Layers of Fear, The Medium) was partnering with Konami and most likely working on Silent Hill, it was easy to fear a return to where the series had left off in 2012 — working with decidedly mid-range, journeyman Western studios like Climax, Vatra, and Double Helix. Considering that safe, known quantities like Until Dawn developer Supermassive are known to have been involved in the Silent Hill pitch process, it’s great to see Konami take a risk on such creators and pursue an unconventional development set-up to realize their vision. [Silent Hill 2](https://www.polygon.com/23413363/silent-hill-2-remake-release-date-ps5-pc-konami) leads the way, which allows Konami to remind fans of, and introduce new players to, the series at its very best, and carries minimal creative risk. Here Konami is acknowledging the huge innovation that smaller, indie developers have brought to the horror space in recent years, as well as a smart willingness to see Silent Hill move across genres and markets, and potentially into experimental forms, within gaming. But it also gave the publisher a chance to show that it had all bases covered, and that it understands both the economic realities and creative opportunities of modern franchise management. from the PlayStation Store, making it almost completely inaccessible if you didn’t already have it installed; and conducted [a protracted and undignified break-up](https://www.polygon.com/2015/12/16/10220356/hideo-kojima-konami-explainer-metal-gear-solid-silent-hills) with its star creator Kojima that included [removing his name](https://www.polygon.com/2015/3/19/8257283/metal-gear-solid-konami-branding) from promotional materials for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and forbidding him from accepting an award for it at The Game Awards. But the damage done to the publisher’s reputation with players — not to mention to its ability and indeed willingness to make games — was severe. The same thinking is presumably behind the most dubious announcement of the bunch, interactive drama series Silent Hill: Ascension. [Silent Hill Transmission showcase](https://www.polygon.com/23412400/silent-hill-transmission-showcase-how-to-watch), it was widely accepted that Konami, as a video game publisher, had fallen from grace to a state of near-total irrelevance. Konami's new <i>Silent Hill</i> games are all from external studios (Gamasutra)

Notably, the remake of Silent Hill 2 will be a console-exclusive release on the PlayStation 5. Konami also announced a new movie directed by Christopher Gans, ...

Third, the economic shifts in the game industry have meant that Konami can pursue several different types of Silent Hill games at once without risking too much cannibalization. GenVid's Silent Hill: Ascension is being produced in partnership with Bad Robot Games, a subsidiary of producer and director J.J. The last of these was Silent Hill Downpour, released in 2012. The decade-long lack of releases in the series has left plenty of pent-up customer demand that other game studios have tried to take advantage of. He and film director Guillemot Del Toro were working on a Silent Hill game called Silent Hills that was unfortunately cancelled after Kojima and Konami split ways in 2015. [presentation](https://youtu.be/oRvRWBQNrSI) yesterday, Konami finally revealed to the world its plans for a revival of the Silent Hill franchise. First and foremost, there's been enough time that young fans of the original games are now old enough to be experienced developers themselves. (Again, this presentation was utter chaos to watch.) Abrams did not appear on vide or even read the quote. The new movie will be called Return to Silent Hill. All games unveiled during the presentation will be made by external developers, including Bloober Team, No Code Studios (in partnership with Annapurna Interactive), GenVid Technologies, and NeoBards Entertainment. The catch?

The Silent Hill 2 PS5 remake trailer reminded me that it and Resident Evil really love their big blond babies.

They fumble in the dark with empty heads and, yes, they survive their horrors, but with blinders on. [24-year-old girlfriends](https://www.newsweek.com/facet-check-leonardo-dicaprio-doesnt-date-women-over-age-25-1738497), despite the soullessness of the whole thoughtless practice. You can’t coast on luck and boyish perplexity all the time, as much as Silent Hill and Resident Evil insist otherwise. They get to navigate the marsh and the mist, waving their guns like lollipops, shouting “What was that!?” at every bump in the night. I’m certainly disturbed by Christopher Columbus, who Scientific American [described in 1893](https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/anecdotes-from-the-archive/will-the-real-christopher-columbus-please-stand-up/) as being “with blond beard and hair, clear complexion and blue eyes.” I feel it in my core.

Silent Hill is back, but is it too much too soon? (Eurogamer.net)

There was a SERIES here. It's back now. Vikki Blake avatar. Opinion by Vikki Blake Contributor. Published on 20 Oct ...

At its peak, Silent Hill was a memorable but niche horror franchise and it lay dying in the middle of the road without any attempt from Konami to save it. For now, though, all I can think of is my scream of delight last night when the strings of Silent Hill 2's main theme bounced off my kitchen walls. 2012's "summer of Silent Hill" turned into the death of Silent Hill and it's been that way ever since. How strange it is to go from hoping for a sign of life - any sign, from anyone, at any time, I beg you - and finding there are not one but five Silent Hill projects in development. It's hard to be excited about the movie, though, given the last Silent Hill film - which, to be fair, the returning director of the original Christophe Gans was not involved in - was dreadful, but Ascension is undeniably intriguing, too. After a full decade of neglect - and eight years after the eye-watering decision to scorch the earth of Kojima's seminal PT - Konami has resurrected the horror franchise.

Silent Hill f Trailer Breakdown (Game Rant)

The trailer for the new Silent Hill spinoff game, Silent Hill f, has fans speculating how this game fits into the survival horror series.

Death is a very common element throughout the Silent Hill series and usually relates to the playable characters on a deeply personal level. The red spider lilies in the trailer indicate that Silent Hill f could feature themes like peace through death or consumption by grief. Symbolism through flowers is not new to the Silent Hill series, The corruption of this town through flowers is similar to the rust-covered Otherworld from [the trailer for Silent Hill f](https://gamerant.com/new-silent-hill-game-f/), red flowers sprout up, infecting the small town. This switch between reality and the supernatural can be seen in the trailer with the Torii gate in the field of flowers. Much like the town of Silent Hill in the other games, the town shown here is somewhere rural and is likely away from any sort of big city. In particular, the game seems to be set somewhere in the 1960s. When looking at the trailer for Silent Hill f, it is clear to see that Ryukishi07's influence has significantly impacted the direction of the game. The small foggy town is a fictional location somewhere in the rural Northeastern United States. The f in the title could indicate any number of things, but regardless, the trailer shows that Silent Hill f looks very different from other entries in the series. Everything that is shown in the trailer indicates that it could be completely separated from the franchise's past stories.
