Per [IMDB](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt15073568/), the movie is supposedly a collaboration with Elon Musk's SpaceX, with the use of their Dragon plane, which has been built to fly civilians into space. He also narrated the 2002 Imax documentary [Space Station 3D](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290296/). Spacewalks are inherently dangerous and, as such, NASA has a whole slew of [rules and guidelines](https://msis.jsc.nasa.gov/sections/section14.htm) around them. Cruise hopes to shoot scenes for an as-yet-untitled action film at the [International Space Station](https://spotthestation.nasa.gov/) (ISS) in the near future. Sometimes, though, astronauts (and Russian cosmonauts) have to go on spacewalks as a last resort. [Oblivion](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1483013/).
