The Google Pixel 7 series will drop in Singapore on 13 October (Lifestyle Asia)

Google unveiled the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro at its Made by Google launch event. It also released the much-awaited Google Pixel Watch.

It is equipped with a new charging speaker dock, which makes the device double up as a larger Next Hub while it is on charge. While the main camera in both phones is 50MP, the Google Pixel 7 Pro has a wider ultrawide camera with autofocus-equipped macro mode. Google unveiled the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro at its ‘Made by Google’ launch event in New York City’s Williamsburg on 6 October 2022. Reports suggest that the watch will be able to detect fall, measure blood oxygen levels and take ECGs. The bands range from active, stretch and woven, metal and leather — all of which are in multiple colours. The 48MP telephoto camera on Google Pixel 7 Pro has a 10x crop-mode-zoom when using the 12MP sensor at the centre. Apps such as Spotify, Strava and Adidas Running can be accessed directly from the watch. Cased in 41mm stainless steel, it has a convex Gorilla Glass 5 and can function for an entire day on a single charge. Both phones became available for pre-order on the day of the unveiling. The watch comes in three different colours — matte black, polished silver and champagne gold. Both phones come with a 10.8MP selfie camera and a unique Photo Unblur feature, which helps remove blurriness in images caused by movement. It is fitted with 12GB RAM.

Google Pixel Watch vs. Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 | Digital Trends (Digital Trends)

Google has unveiled its highly-anticipated Pixel Watch, ushering in a new era for Wear OS devices. But does it bring enough to topple Samsung's Galaxy Watch ...

Yes [Pixel Watch](https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/google-pixel-watch-news-pricing-specs-availability/) is available from Google’s online store starting at $350 for the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi model or $400 for the 4G/LTE cellular-equipped version. [Galaxy Watch 5](https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/samsung-galaxy-watch-5-news-rumors-renders-leaks-specs-pricing/) is available from Samsung and most retail stores, with pricing starting at $280 for the 40mm Bluetooth version and $330 if you want to add in LTE support. The Galaxy Watch 5 can also take blood pressure measurements and read your wrist temperature, at least in theory; the temperature sensor has yet to be unlocked by third-party developers, and blood pressure monitoring is only available in countries where Samsung has received regulatory approval — and the U.S. Yes (5 atm + IP68) The Pixel Watch and Galaxy Watch 5 both include an ECG app to help look for signs of atrial fibrillation. Google's Pixel Watch Hands-On: Here's What You Need to Know (DC Rainmaker)

The device takes pretty much everything you'd expect from a high-end Fitbit (like the Fitbit Sense/Sense 2) and blends it with the specs of a mainstream Wear OS ...

Lastly, we’ve got the Fitbit integration – which is the first Wear OS device with Fitbit built in (Google has hinted this will come to other non-Google Fitbit devices). The upper right button accesses your recent apps list, but you can also long hold it to access Google Assistant (and then use the mic/speaker to have a discussion about whatever it is you need Google to help you with). Google reiterated this claim numerous times, as well as the 1-second recording rate 24×7, both in pre-event briefings and the keynote itself, as well as numerous discussions with Fitbit employees at the event. Like many companies, both big and small, when you launch your first product you’re aiming to find the product with the widest possible appeal to cement your position in the market. But again, the general way you can look at things is that if it’s on a Wear OS 3 watch, it’s here, and if it’s on the Fitbit Sense 2, it’s here. That basically ended last year when Samsung launched the first Wear OS 3 watch (the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series), and continues here with both Samsung and Google’s offerings. And they are correct, Apple doesn’t permit any 3rd party hardware to reply to text messages/iMessage (whereas the Apple Watch can). The Pixel Watch is a Wear OS device (as expected) that also runs a tightly integrated Fitbit experience, logical, given [Google’s purchase of Fitbit a few years back](https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/11/google-acquires-fitbit-what-it-actually-means-to-wearables-and-the-industry.html). As one might expect, it’s kinda hard to encapsulate the entirety of a wearable platform (be it Apple/Google/Garmin/etc…) into a handful of bullet points, especially given there’s likely thousands of features to cover. Google says they aimed to build the watch that has the widest appeal, and we see that in aspects like size and usability. And when they have a child, then the offspring simply takes the form of the combined parents. The device takes pretty much everything you’d expect from a high-end Fitbit (like the Fitbit Sense/Sense 2) and blends it with the specs of a mainstream Wear OS watch.

Sadly, the app will work only with Google Pixel Watch users. The new user interface does not work with the old Wear OS by Google Smartwatch, meaning this device got its proprietary app. There is also Google Maps support which would make navigation on unknown streets a lot easier and safer.

They will not pair with iPhones because Apple gives its own watches exclusive access to messaging and other important features users would want, said Sandeep Waraich, a Google director of product management. A model with cellular connectivity costs US$50 more. Even sales of the Apple Watch have slipped this year as consumers delay purchases or select cheaper rivals.

Google Pixel Watch Hands-On: Fitbit Makes Its Android Watch Debut (CNET)

Google's Pixel Watch. Lisa Eadicicco/CNET. Google's new Pixel Watch is the company's first smartwatch, yet it's also quite possibly the highest-end Fitbit ...

The Pixel Watch should last for 24 hours on a single charge and runs on an Exynos 9110 processor along with a coprocessor, says Google. Similar to the Apple Watch, the Pixel Watch will support fall detection and also has built-in GPS for tracking running routes. From a health tracking perspective, you could almost think of the Pixel Watch as a really nice-looking Fitbit smartwatch. Plus, Google sees that as a differentiating factor between the Fitbit Sense 2 and Pixel Watch. Google is positioning the Pixel Watch as more of a full-featured smartwatch, so it includes some extras like smart home controls, access to the Google Play Store from your wrist and optional LTE connectivity (although the cellular version of the watch will cost slightly higher at $400). In the short amount of time I've had to see the Pixel Watch in person, the software looks a lot like the new redesigned interface on the Fitbit Sense 2. Similar to the Sense 2, the Pixel Watch has tiles for showing activity data, heart rate, the weather, exercise shortcuts and other bits of information. Google said in May it's positioning the Pixel Watch as a premium smartwatch, and that approach comes across in its aesthetic. But the Pixel Watch's domed glass gives it a distinguished look that sets it apart from most wearables, even the Apple Watch and high-end hybrid watches such as the Withings ScanWatch Horizon. Google unveiled the Pixel Watch alongside the [Pixel 7](/tech/mobile/google-pixel-7-hands-on-fresh-design-new-camera-features-same-price/) and [Pixel 7 Pro](/tech/mobile/pixel-7-pro-hands-on-google-goes-big-on-the-camera/) phones back at its annual developer conference back in May. Whether the Pixel Watch becomes a hit could be an indicator of what consumers value most in a smartwatch. Pixel Watch vs. Galaxy Watch vs. Apple Watch: Which Wearable Wins? (PCMag.com)

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Apple Watch Series 8 now face a third major competitor in the form of Google's Pixel Watch. How do the three stack up?

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and Apple Watch Ultra are available in just a single (larger) size. The Apple Watch SE is by far the cheapest smartwatch of the bunch at $249 and $299, respectively, for the Wi-Fi and cellular models. The Galaxy Watch 5 slots in after that at $279.99 or $329.99, respectively, for the Wi-Fi and cellular editions. The Pixel Watch has a blood oxygen sensor and ECG, but no thermometer. The latest Apple Watch models (the SE, [Series 8](https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/apple-watch-series-8), and [Ultra](https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/apple-watch-ultra)) stand in one corner, while Samsung's [Galaxy Watch 5](https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/samsung-galaxy-watch-5) and Watch 5 Pro lurk in another. The most obvious difference here is that Apple Watch screens are square with rounded corners, whereas the Galaxy Watch and Pixel Watch panels are circular. They also have GPS, though the Apple Watch Ultra has both L1 and L5 GPS for better accuracy. The other Apple Watch models have blood oxygen sensors, ECG functionality, and temperature tracking. We haven't yet reviewed the Pixel Watch and Watch SE (2022), though our above experience indicates you should take company estimates with a grain of salt. From there, you can narrow it down to one of the three [Apple Watches](https://www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-apple-watch) currently available, but neither the Galaxy Watch 5 nor Pixel Watch is going to work. The Pixel Watch is simple and circular, with a stainless steel case in matte black, gold, or silver. The Apple Watch Ultra is chunkier but similar in its basic design.

Google reveals long-awaited Pixel Watch with Fitbit health tracking (MobiHealthNews)

The new wearable will include continuous heart rate tracking, sleep monitoring and fitness features. Google also plans to add fall detection this winter.

[launched the Halo View](https://www.mobihealthnews.com/news/new-amazon-halo-device-and-features-compete-against-fitbit-apple-fitness) about a year ago. [revealed the Apple Watch Series 8](https://www.mobihealthnews.com/news/apple-watch-series-8-adds-ovulation-estimates-car-crash-detection) last month, which adds temperature-sensing capabilities for tracking ovulation and includes car-crash detection. [announced a new service](https://www.mobihealthnews.com/news/fitbit-google-cloud-unveil-wearable-data-analytics-service-healthcare) to help healthcare and life science organizations utilize data from wearables. However, the company has had a larger stake in the health tracking wearables space since its deal with Fitbit that closed in 2021 after being held up by regulatory probes. The watch will also add a fall-detection feature this winter. They can also use the watch to monitor sleep and how much time people spend in light, deep and REM sleep.
