Arsenal opponents Bodo/Glimt forced to walk to Emirates (ESPN)

"The bus was driving in a narrow street where we met another car. The question was: who would give way? Unfortunately, our man withdrew."

Arteta and Arsenal spy 'psychological' boost of 14-point gap over ... (The Guardian)

Mikel Arteta said: 'You need to believe you can compete,' with Arsenal having won only once in the past 19 matches against Jürgen Klopp's side.

Although Arsenal burnished their credentials with an exhilarating win over Spurs last Saturday there is a sense Liverpool would be a more telling scalp given the hold Klopp’s team have exerted on them. “You’ve seen a lot of [turnarounds] in this league and we are making assumptions,” he said. They have stormed to the Premier League’s summit with a tempo and rhythm reminiscent of Jürgen Klopp’s side, who have made a scratchy start and sit ninth.

Every word from Mikel's post-Bodo/Glimt presser | News (Arsenal.com)

Our perfect start to our Europa League group stage continued on Thursday night as we defeated Bodo/Glimt 3-0 at Emirates Stadium.

They came here and they tried to play exactly the same as they have played away or at home against any opponent, and probably that’s credit to the manager. How clear and brave they are in what they want to do. What I can say is that I’m really happy to have him in the team. When he puts the ball in the back of the net. That’s his mentality, and this is where we want to take him. We were really effective in the final third and we looked a threat, but in terms of composure and sometimes the timing between the units because they haven’t played together much, some levels were lacking a little bit and in football timing is everything. We all love his attitude and the qualities that he has, so we are really happy to have him. But then this is football, and there are so many uncontrollable circumstances that will determine if we go this way, or that way - we use this player, or that player. Every time he’s around the box he’s a real threat, really intelligent player and brave. We need to again start to create those moment, because they are really special. There are still a lot of things individually and collectively that need to be done better and they need to keep their standards as high as possible and to try to reach the next level and the next level. The same as the others, keep doing better and better.

Every word from Arteta's pre-Liverpool presser | Press conference ... (Arsenal.com)

Ahead of one of this season's biggest tests against Liverpool, Mikel Arteta spoke to the press about our opponents, our start to the season, ...

But as we're looking ahead, again, to where we want to be and at the moment, we are not there yet. I think one of the things in terms of how you measure success, as well as lifting trophies, is needing to understand where we were. Now, I look at the games with a different perspective - you have to be much cooler, and you have to prepare many other aspects that are relevant to beat them on Sunday. If you're able to win, we set an atmosphere and such a feeling of belonging and participation, I think it's much better. And we have to show those opponents again that we have reached the level and we are ready to compete against them. So it's something that we have to experience, and test because at the moment, we don't really know how it's going to play out. Well, we know that the fixtures that we've been given have no precedence in this league because of the World Cup and with everything that we have to play in between. You always hear about the weaknesses that you want to improve. The atmosphere they're creating every time we play for them is fantastic. I think the way he has established himself, the composure and leadership that he's shown on the pitch – it's done in a very natural way without any flashlights, just being himself. But at the moment, we cannot ask anything of them. Again, it's another really exciting game to play against one of the toughest opponents in this league.

Mikel Arteta has already exposed fickle Arsenal theory and ... (Football.London)

Chris Sutton expects Arsenal to simply turn up and steamroll Liverpool on Sunday despite all but writing off the Gunners under Mikel Arteta.

Supporters are allowed to dream but must be wary of the volatile media furore that engulfs the modern game. Despite this, Arsenal go into the clash as overwhelming favourites. Despite their stuttering start, Liverpool should provide a far sterner examination of what the Gunners can achieve in 2022-23. “The way Arsenal went at Tottenham last weekend was impressive and bodes well for this game too,” Sutton wrote. Jurgen Klopp's side were very comfortable against Rangers in the Champions League on Tuesday but they weren't tested defensively. However, the brutal reality is that Spurs were the first top side Arsenal have beaten all season.

His whipped cross for Holding's goal was excellent and he was then on hand late on to score his second for the club after some fine play from Gabriel Jesus. But it's still been a frustrating season for the 27-year-old, so he would have been determined to make an impact on what was his first home start of the campaign. The Arsenal defender has struggled for any sort of game time this season, so it was no surprise to see him smiling when he planted Fabio Vieira's excellent cross into the corner to make it 2-0.
