Arsenal beats 10-man Tottenham 3-1 to stay atop EPL table (The Washington Post)

Gabriel Jesus marked his first north London derby with a goal as Arsenal beat 10-man Tottenham 3-1 to strengthen its grip on first place in the Premier ...

“From the first second I think we were the better team,” the Swiss midfielder said. That strategy paid off on the half-hour mark when Bukayo Saka turned the ball over and the visitors launched a quick counter that ended with Arsenal giving away a penalty as defender Gabriel lunged in to trip Richarlison in the area. The usually feisty derby fixture had been surprisingly void of tough challenges and fouls, with not a single player getting booked in the first half. Arsenal largely dominated possession in the first half as Tottenham was content to sit back and wait for counter-attacking opportunities. Tottenham would have climbed above Arsenal into first with a win, but instead saw its 13-game unbeaten run in the league stretching back to last season come to an end. “To be honest it’s the second time I scored in a derby.

EPL: Liverpool drop points as Arsenal beat Spurs to retain top spot (TheCable)

Liverpool came from two goals down but could not prevent dropping further points following a 3-3 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion in.

Trossard was on hand to convert at the back post. Webster inadvertently turned Luiz Diaz’s knock-on from a corner kick to complete the comeback for Liverpool but Brighton would have the last word on the outcome with the equalizer on 85 minutes to make it 3-3. Torssard handed Brighton the lead on five minutes with a shot that nestled into the bottom corner before repeating the trick on 18 minutes with another well-placed shot into the far corner beyond Alisson Becker, Liverpool goalkeeper, for 2-0.

Hat-trick, goalless draw and scoring record set in EPL (RNZ)

Arsenal stay top of English Premier League while elsewhere a hat-trick and a goalless draw were played out.

Earlier, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang had seized on a headed pass by Thiago Silva to score his first goal for Chelsea in the 38th minute and level the match after Odsonne Edouard had given the Eagles the lead in the seventh minute. Southampton made the visitors pay after the break when Joe Aribo produced a neat finish after he was afforded too much space at the edge of the box before Everton turned the game on its head in the space of a few minutes. Almiron slotted home his second from Joe Willock's precise pass to make it 4-0 12 minutes into the second half, and only the linesman's flag stopped him from completing his hat-trick as he had a goal ruled out for offside in the 69th minute. They are third with 17 points. Defensive midfielder Chalobah was sent off in the eighth minute for a dangerous challenge on Sean Longstaff that referee Darren England initially only deemed worthy of a yellow card, but he upgraded it to a straight red after a VAR review. Liverpool completed the turnaround and appeared to be on course for a crucial victory after their slow start to the season, when Brighton's Adam Webster put the ball in his own net in the 63rd minute.

Arsenal remain top of EPL league (The Singleton Argus)

Arsenal retained their place at the top of the Premier League table with a fine north London derby victory over 10-man Tottenham. A rare Thomas Partey strike and goals from Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka secured a well-deserved 3-1 win, Spurs losing ...

Bobby Decordova-Reid grabbed a late consolation. Odsonne Edouard scored the opener for Palace in the seventh minute, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalising seven minutes before half-time on his first league start for the Blues. Partey got the ball rolling with his first Arsenal goal from outside the box in his 65th match for the Gunners before Kane levelled from the spot to take his tally in this fixture to 14 in 18 appearances.

Arsenal soaring and Liverpool struggling in EPL (WOKV)

It's looking increasingly like Arsenal is the real deal in the English Premier League. It's also looking like Liverpool hasn't got what it takes to mount ...

"It's really hard to control the game in the Premier League — only Manchester City is doing that." Gallagher responded to the goal with a muted celebration. Liverpool got to grips with Brighton’s playing style and mounted a fightback. “It’s nothing that we have done yet and there’s still a lot of things to improve. Emerson Royal's red card was for a needless studs-up challenge on Gabriel Martinelli when the score was 2-1. “It’s a really hungry and humble team, believe me," Arteta said.

Klopp blasts 'horrible, horrendous' Liverpool; Arsenal secure ... (Fox Sports)

Klopp blasts 'horrible, horrendous' Liverpool; Arsenal secure bragging rights over 10-man Spurs: PL Wrap.

“Three-three feels like a defeat even though it is not, and we have to fight through this. Gianluca Scamacca scored his first Premier League goal in the 29th minute and Jarrod Bowen clinched the points in the 54th minute. Newcastle ended their six-match winless run in the league as Eddie Howe’s men swept to a 4-1 rout of 10-man Fulham at Craven Cottage. “To be a goal down and come away with three points is fantastic, so credit to the players. Chelsea, who drew 1-1 with RB Salzburg in the Champions League in Potter’s first game, suffered a nightmare start on seven minutes as Wesley Fofana squandered possession and Jordan Ayew fed Odsonne Edouard to fire into the top corner. Conor Gallagher, who spent last season on loan at Palace, won it for Chelsea in stoppage-time when the substitute curled a fine finish into the top corner. At Selhurst Park, Chelsea left it late to give Potter his first win in his second match since arriving from Brighton to replace the sacked Thomas Tuchel. We went from it and we created great energy in the stadium and deserved to win the game,” Arteta said. Ending Tottenham’s 13-match unbeaten run in the league was a significant statement of intent from the hosts. As the Premier League returned with a bang after the international break, Liverpool were rocked by Brighton forward Leandro Trossard’s hat-trick in a 3-3 draw at Anfield. Thomas Partey put the Gunners ahead early in the first half of the north London derby at the Emirates Stadium. But it was Arsenal who stole the spotlight as Mikel Arteta’s side made it seven wins from eight league games, moving them four points clear at the top of the table.

MATCHDAY: Manchester derby in EPL; Benzema back for Madrid (The Washington Post)

Manchester United heads to local rival Manchester City on a four-match winning run and needing a plan to stop the irrepressible Erling Haaland.

Lille lifted the title in 2021 and hopes to get back in contention for European football after a disappointing mid-table finish last season. Surprise package Lorient can consolidate third place by extending its winning streak to five games when it hosts Lille in the league. Center forward Duvan Zapata is expected back from injury for Atalanta, which uncharacteristically has struggled to score while conceding just three goals for the stingiest defense in Serie A. Luka Modric will miss the match against Osasuna due to a muscle issue while playing for Croatia during the international break. Osasuna has impressed with four wins and two losses, but it will be without its best weapon as Chimy Ávila serves a one-game suspension. The France striker missed three matches for the club while mending a right leg injury, but Madrid kept on winning without him anyway.
