I have nothing against her for any reason.” “I have nothing but respect for Florence’s talent. “She is sensational in this film. “When he gave me the ultimatum of, you know, him or Florence, I chose Florence.”

"People will look for drama anywhere they can," the director said in an interview that touched on Harry Styles, Shia LaBeouf and Florence Pugh.

“They should be talking about the movie itself, but these are the questions that have sort of consumed this movie.” He said that if Wilde was a male director he wouldn’t even have these questions to begin with. “We had to replace Shia,” Wilde said. “Early on in the process of making the film, as the director, I tried to mediate, you know, a situation between people to try to see if they could work together happily,” Wilde explained. At the time was I bummed we weren’t able to make it work? “Once it became clear that it was not a tenable working relationship, I was given an ultimatum. “People would actually be talking about the movie itself,” Wilde agreed, adding of male directors, “They’re praised for being tyrannical. Colbert asked Wilde to explain the situation with LaBeouf. They can be investigated time and time again, it still doesn’t overtake conversations of their actual talent or about the film themselves. She continued, “People can look at a video that shows evidence of someone not spitting on someone else and they’ll still see what they want to see. I have nothing against her in for any reason.” “I have nothing but respect for Florence’s talent,” Wilde confirmed. Anyone who has dealt with conflict knows that there are levels to it before there's a conclusion,” Wilde tells Stephen Colbert.

“The film is about the narratives we are fed and whether we choose to accept them or question their sources. He tells Wilde at one point it must be “particularly frustrating to have people talking about a lot of things that aren’t the film itself.” All jokes aside, however, Wilde is clearly more than aware of Don’t Worry Darling’s behind-the-scenes intrigue—and in some ways, sees it as an allegory for the film. At the time, was I bummed that we weren’t able to make it work? “Once it became clear that it was not a tenable working relationship, I was given an ultimatum. “Early on in the process of making the film, as the director, I tried to mediate a situation between people to try to see if they could work together happily,” Wilde explains.

Director Olivia Wilde has opened up about recent controversies surrounding her upcoming movie "Don't Worry Darling." She also stated about the 'spitgate' ...

The views expressed here are that of the respective authors/ entities and do not represent the views of Economic Times (ET). Notably, Wilde was sitting next to Chris Pine when the "spitgate" incident occurred. LaBeouf had also fired back at Wilde, saying that he had quit the movie since there was a lack of time to rehearse. Earlier, LaBeouf was originally selected for the lead role in the movie, but Wilde fired him because the actor's process was reportedly not "conducive to the ethos" of the director. In "Don't Worry, Darling," actress Florence Pugh will play the wife of the character that LaBeouf was originally set to portray. While referring to the incident between Styles and Pine, the filmmaker stated that "spigate" was a perfect example to prove that people would look for drama wherever they could.
