Director duo Abbas-Mustan recalled how Shah Rukh Khan understood their bad narration and agreed to do Baazigar on the spot.

They particularly spoke about the moment when SRK’s character threw Shilpa Shetty off the balcony and it led to a loud scream from the audience. He said I am doing the film. He said no I want to listen to it from you. The Ajnabee directors said that when they met with SRK, he wanted a narration from them. He said this actor is very passionate, he will do it well. Baazigar was a movie that helped SRK make a name for himself with a breakthrough role in a negative light. The role that was rejected by Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, and Salman Khan made SRK a household name as well as established Kajol and him as an evergreen couple. Shahrukh received his first Filmfare Best Actor award for Baazigar and it became the biggest earner for a movie in 1993. We met all of them and then went downstairs to drop them off, Shah Rukh again hugged and said I will never forget this moment and also said, "Now after receiving your blessings, I will go to Gauri.” So Ramzan was going on and it was probably the first or second day probably, so we heard a knock and my wife opened the door and said Shah Rukh Khan has come.
