That held true for most of the game, with the Steelers limiting the Bengals to a field goal on a red-zone trip before the half, and the unit stepped up when it mattered most, strip-sacking [Joe Burrow](/players/joe-burrow/)and pushing the Bengals out of field goal range in overtime. In the end, however, there were too many missed opportunities to score more points for the Falcons as 12 of their points were off the foot of [Younghoe Koo](/players/younghoe-koo/). Baker Mayfield and the Panthers lost to the Browns, Joe Burrow and the Bengals had an inexplicable showing against the Steelers and the Patriots were a dud.

The quarterback threw an interception, and the Panthers faced a two-touchdown deficit. Dobbins and left tackle Ronnie Stanley as they face the New York Jets in an early-afternoon game in East Rutherford, N.J. A blocked extra-point pushed things to overtime for an extended dose of insanity before the Steelers won, 23-20. on the first Sunday of the NFL’s 2022 season, two went to overtime, including one that ended in a tie. Only the Dolphins’ takedown of the Patriots and the Ravens’ win over the Jets could be considered blowouts. For starters, the Bears won.

Jonathan Taylor wore down the Texans defense, plowing through for 161 yards and a score on 31 carries, but Indianapolis still left with a tie thanks to a 42-yard missed field goal attempt from the goggle-god, Rodrigo Blankenship, with two minutes remaining in overtime. The overhang above a concourse at FedEx leaked as a result of a busted pipe, in what is becoming a ritual of building failures. Even the painted sidelines started to lose their form in a way that made it seem like the ground crew was drunk when they put them on there. Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., and Allegiant Stadium for the Las Vegas Raiders all opened in the past five years and have set a new standard for the live N.F.L. Puddles formed everywhere, and players struggled to find their footing pregame and early in the match. The Eagles traded for the former Titans receiver in April and promptly signed him to a four-year, $100 million contract extension that paid off Sunday with dunks all over the Lions’ secondary. Marquez Valdes-Scantling and JuJu Smith-Schuster, the two big offseason additions to the receiving corps, combined for 123 receiving yards but neither earned a deep target. Mahomes was firing darts over the middle of the field and doing so in a hurry to counter Arizona’s blitz-heavy defense. And the fact that Burrow was the biggest contributor to the loss is probably a good sign going forward. The Chiefs ran the Cardinals off the field in a 44-21 romp that wasn’t even as close as that score might imply. And overall it wasn’t the most explosive day for the speedy receiver. The other was a wide open throw after Hill smoked his defender with a slick comeback route. But the Pro Bowl kicker nailed a 59-yarder to bail his quarterback out.

Houston Texans (31) - The Texans tied the Colts in Week 1. Indianapolis Colts (8) - This team is supposed to roll to the division title. Green Bay Packers (6) - Maybe losing your top wide receiver in the offseason is not a recipe for success? Tennessee Titans (19) - We thought we might have been down too much on the Titans before they lost to the Giants in Week 1. A tie with the Texans in Week 1 is not the way to do that. Cleveland Browns (25) - We didn't think Cleveland would beat Carolina in Week 1, but they found a way to get a 26-24 win.
