Sevilla: On the injury front, Marcao remains out with a hamstring injury, and he's not expected to be back until Sept. Julen Lopetegui's team have struggled defensively conceding five times in those three games, and it could get worse with the high-powered attack of Barca having scored four goals in each of their last two league matches. Barca enter with a 2-1-0 record and sit in third place, while Sevilla have yet to win this campaign, currently in 15th with one draw and two losses.

Barça certainly could have played better in the opening 20 minutes but a fast start from Sevilla was to be expected, and the Catalans did a great job of absorbing the early pressure, no conceding a goal and then showing their superiority for the rest of the game. Sevilla looked lost after the second goal and couldn’t stay organized, and gifted Barça two huge chances to put the game to bed in the dying seconds. The home team stopped having easy chances on the counter, and all of a sudden it was all Barça at the Pizjuán.

Erik Lamela has two bites at a ball in the box but Eric Garcia gets in his way on both occasions. A result in the UEFA Champions League against Man City might buy him the time he needs. Then there was goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who came through with a save at a critical juncture early in the match. Lewandowski was a catalyst on the first Barcelona goal with his chip cleared off the line, where teammate Raphinha was ready to pounce and head home the loose ball. Of course, a handful of these same players were part of the team during the rougher stretches of the last campaign. Jules Kounde was exceptional at right-back — he assisted on two goals — and Eric Garcia made a handful of key defensive plays in addition to scoring a goal.
