Our PLAY, PAUSE or STOP review of the new Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Hart comedy. by Andrew Morgan Published on August 26th, 2022, 5:32 am EST. Share Tweet.

One of the rare characters in this film that knew how to bring it in every time he’s on-screen! Sonny needs to take time away from his family and reconnect with his life outside of them, including focusing on his own needs. In the early 2000s, writer/director John Hamburg was one of the best comedy minds in the industry. With the incredible early success of Meet The Parents, Zoolander, & I Love You, Man, Hamburg created iconic characters that still resonate with fans like myself to this day (I was once Zoolander for Halloween in my early 20s. They never seem to have a shorthand or a bond that brings them closer. Fun fact: This is the seventh movie that Kevin Hart & Regina Hall have acted in together.

You have to hand it to Kevin Hart for his prolificacy at the very least, keeping the middle-brow, upper-middle-budget studio comedy going on his own terms.

Me Time Review - IGN (IGN)

Me Time features fun chemistry between Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg but is held back by a worn-out story.

The promise/premise of the movie is these two and their scenes get held back to an odd degree. The most underdeveloped of the three, actually, is Wahlberg's Huck, whose man-child catharsis at the end happens too speedily as the movie tidily figures out that everyone can have everything they want in terms of family and career. What works best are some of the actual lines and exchanges that capitalize on Hart and Wahlberg's fast-talking chemistry. In the case of Me Time, the reason Hart's Sonny is friendless, or at least hasn't really connected with his childhood friend Huck Dembo (Wahlberg, with a superb doltish movie name) in over a decade, is because he's rigidly dedicated himself to being a househusband and helicopter father after starting his own family. It's a different type of self-dug hole in that regard as the film, clumsily for the most part, addressees the issue of giving away too much of yourself for fear that you have no value outside of acts of service. Hart and Wahlberg fill the story with high energy and fun performances but the best aspects of the film came from previous movies, including director

What To Expect In 'Me Time' From Wahlberg And Hart (Guardian)

In the upcoming Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg Netflix comedy “Me Time,” there is a scene where Hart's character Sonny finally has a day to himself.

Yang comes after Huck for $47,000, it seems like a lot but also isn’t enough for someone who spends thousands of dollars on a private raw bar in the desert and a tour bus wrapped in pictures of himself. It is personable, a little ambitious, and only intended to serve as background. Hall undoubtedly deserved more, and Maya is only one of the many poorly developed characters at play here. The wealth on display in “Me Time” is downright distracting. He treats his job extremely seriously, cooking meals fit for an Instagram celebrity and taking care of the house while his wife Maya played by Regina Hall is at work. However, given who was there, it ought to be much better.

Review: Aiming for Comedy in Male Insecurity, Me Time Never Hits ... (thirdcoastreview.com)

Over the years, writer/director John Hamberg has explored men from a unique perspective. Often with very funny results, he has posed questions about male ...

Of course, the film thinks that the second he’s alone, Sonny starts cruising porn, but eventually he starts sorting through his options and decides that it’s been too long since Huck has had a chance to corrupt him. Hart and Wahlberg are both basically straight men, and while Sonny’s hangups are pathetic, they don’t really lead to many laughs, even when Hart gets attacked by a mountain lion (didn’t we just watch a movie where a guy fights a lion?; that movie wasn’t very funny either). At home managing the household, Sonny is confident about what needs to get done and how to arrange his family’s lives so that order is maintained. And now with Me Time, he profiles Sonny (Kevin Hart), a stay-at-home dad who has insecurities about losing the fun person he used to be when he’s faced with spending time with his oldest friend Huck (Mark Wahlberg) during a blowout birthday excursion. With I Love You, Man, he examined male friendships from the perspective of a guy who didn’t have any and is forced to seek one out; in Why Him?, he looks at the uncomfortable process of a father letting go of his daughter as she falls in love with someone else. Sonny is a man addicted to his routines and schedules.

REVIEW: 'Me Time' gives enough laughs from Hart and Wahlberg to ... (ABC News)

Film critic Peter Travers shares his review of "Me Time," starring Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg, out Friday.

Wahlberg makes a droll meal of that line and holds his own with Hart even when the jokes tip over the line from crass to smutty. Eager to cut loose while preaching family values, "Me Time" is a movie at war with itself. But hit-and-miss sight gags do not add up to the rowdy free-for-all that everyone clearly intended. When Sonny decides to reconnect with Huck Dembo (Wahlberg), the bachelor bestie he hasn't seen for years, the stage is set for an R-rated farce that quickly descends to being dim-witted and disposable. When Sonny realizes Maya intends to spend part of her own me-time with her sleazy eco-tycoon boss, Armando (Luis Gerardo Mendez), jealousy sparks him to overindulge. The children, Dashiell (Che Tafari) and Ava (Amentii Sledge), worry about mom's domestic skills.

Netflix's Me Time casts Mark Wahlberg as the latest co-star for Kevin Hart, who's amassing buddy comedies like a squirrel stuffing a hole full of nuts for the ...

Our Take: As ever, Hart is the great leveler, giving an enjoyable performance within the confines of a lackluster screenplay, resulting in a middling shrug of a comedy that inspires a few smirks before it ends and we never watch it again. Even Maya thinks Sonny should enjoy some time to himself, so she throws the kids on a plane to her parents’ house and he gets out the lotion and porn and you know how this scene ends – no, not the logical conclusion of such things, but like you’d get in a predictable broad R-rated comedy. Hart and Wahlberg indulge the boring guy/crazy guy dynamic and share two sentimental moments accompanied by delicately tinkled piano music. Oh, and Huck Dembo should’ve been named something else. Performance Worth Watching: And as always, Hart is the best thing about these romps. He makes the perfect school lunches, gets the kids and wife out the door and only manages to slip twice in shit left on the kitchen floor by their pet tortoise. He brings uptempo energy and an unerringly relatable, sympathetic component to these boilerplate roles. [The Man from Toronto](https://decider.com/movie/the-man-from-toronto/)), Dwayne Johnson ( [Central Intelligence](https://decider.com/movie/central-intelligence/)), Ice Cube (two [Ride Along](https://decider.com/movie/ride-along/)s) and Will Ferrell ( [Get Hard](https://decider.com/movie/get-hard/)) for goofball romps that were perfectly content being hit-and-miss mediocrities. In the PRESENT DAY, Sonny is happily married to Maya the Successful Architect (Regina Hall), and is a super-duper stay-at-home dad to Dash (Che Tafari) and Ava (Amentii Sledge). He looks across the school dropoff zone and wonders if he’s becoming poor sad lonely Crossing Guard Lenore. (Funny, how Hart’s best work was [Fatherhood](https://decider.com/2021/06/18/fatherhood-on-netflix-stream-it-or-skip-it/), which he carried on his own. He survives, of course, because it’s the very first scene in the movie.

Me Time review: Netflix's latest comedy falls apart | Digital Trends (Digital Trends)

'Me Time' is another messy, lackluster Netflix original film. The Kevin Hart-led comedy premieres on the streaming service on Friday, August 26.

Mark Wahlberg, in particular, falls flat as Huck, who easily ranks as one of the most underwritten and thinly sketched characters that the Fighter and Ted star has ever played. The film’s opening flashback to one of Sonny and Huck’s previous adventures quickly — and quite messily — sets up the kind of zany adventures that the duo used to get into before the former decided to settle down with his family. The film has all the ingredients that it needs in order to be a successfully absurd farce in the same vein as many of the studio comedies that were released throughout the early and mid-2000s. Additionally, the film’s biggest plot beats are so loosely connected that it’s difficult to remember how Me Time even gets from one to the other throughout its story. What’s even worse is that Hamburg doesn’t even follow through on the promise of Huck’s outsized 44th birthday party. When he goes to use the bucket for the first time, he suddenly finds himself alone in a stand-off with a hungry mountain lion.

'Me Time' Ending, Explained - Why Does Huck Owe Money To A ... (Digital Mafia Talkies)

"Me Time" opens with Huck (Mark Wahlberg) celebrating his 29th birthday by taking Sonny (Kevin Hart) for some wingsuit gliding. While hurtling to the ground ...

He sees that Huck is at the harbor, and he assumes that Stan is about to kill him. He learns that his micromanaging (and the false rumors about Crossing Guard Lenore) has caused him to try to be someone else and has distanced him from his son. He wants to combine Huck’s ability to throw great parties with his ability to entertain kids and make money from it. As a gesture of gratitude, Sonny says that he’s going to pay Stan the $47,000 so that Huck doesn’t have to be on the run constantly. But they find out that he has made a deal with Stan to work off his debt. And on that note, she leaves with the children and tells Sonny to vacate the house because she thinks they need some space in their relationship. Sonny even has a falling out with Huck after realizing that he has spent money on Seal. The positive side of this is that it strengthens Sonny and Huck’s relationship, and they shift Huck’s birthday party to Sonny’s house. Sonny says that he is the reason why they found out Huck’s location (he posted a photo on Instagram), so he is partially to blame for this sticky situation. So, they feel duty-bound to take it to the vet and ensure that it doesn’t die. If you don’t, well, it becomes clear when Huck explains later that he got fired from his ad agency and went on a bender with a client that led to his loans. This time he wants him to come away for his 44th birthday for yet another party of a lifetime.

5 Best movies like Kevin Hart2019s 'Me Time' (PINKVILLA)

Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg's Me Time offers a lot of buddy comedy fun. So which other films feature similar outlines and entertainment value?

Although Wahlberg's portrayal in The Other Guys is very different from his unassuming one in Me Time, fans of the movie will still be excited to see him in a movie about an unlikely relationship. Although the main protagonists in Due Date and Me Time are not pals in the same sense, they both share a lot of humorous pratfalls. Although the slapstick comedy in Harold & Kumar is pretty similar to Me Time, it is undoubtedly on the raunchier side of things. [Kevin Hart](https://www.pinkvilla.com/entertainment/hollywood/heres-what-best-friends-dwayne-johnson-and-kevin-hart-got-each-other-their-birthdays-year-1161880) and Ice Cube collaborated on the film Ride Along, which was extremely similar to Me Time. The comedy timing of Wahlberg and Hart makes the movie entertaining. Me Time, when the main characters try to reignite their friendship spark, has a similar theme of friends rediscovering their relationship. In this road buddy comedy starring Zach Galifianakis and Robert Downey Jr., the former's character, Peter, is compelled to travel across the nation with the latter's character, Ethan, to reach home in time for the birth of his daughter. For the duo he forged with Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg's performance in The Other Guys typically ranks among his best films. Me Time, a buddy comedy starring Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Hart, premiered on Netflix on August 26, 2022, reintroducing both actors to the genre. Harold & Kumar succeeded despite the unlikely nature of its premise—two buddies travel to a White Castle restaurant to eat—to make a popular film. The titular pair's excursion to eat burgers involves a series of outrageous escapades that make for a crazy night. It might be wise to organize a binge-watch of these films after taking some time for yourself.

Me Time review – time well spent (Ready Steady Cut)

This review of the Netflix film Me Time starring Kevin Hart does not contain spoilers or any significant plot points.

It’s far from a perfect comedy but it certainly won me over and I enjoyed spending time with Hart and Wahlberg in particular. Some of the supporting characters grated a touch and things seemed to tie together very neatly at the end for everyone. Wahlberg brings a lovely touch of humanity to his character and in particular, I enjoyed spending time with his Huck.
