Part of the concrete pier that a crane was standing on collapsed, said the Ministry of Manpower.

The two workers were pronounced dead at the scene by attending paramedics. The structure suddenly collapsed at around 10pm, causing a part of the scaffold to be flung out of the vessel. Earlier in March this year, two workers were killed after they were thrown off a vessel docked at Keppel Shipyard in Tuas.

They are all in stable condition, the ministry added. The Keppel Shipyard spokesman said: “Keppel Shipyard values the life and safety of every worker and is working closely with the authorities to conduct thorough investigations. SCDF conveyed two persons to National University Hospital," said SCDF.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the accident at noon on Monday. We are working with the SCDF and Police Coast Guard on the search operations," said a spokesman. This caused the crane to topple and become partially submerged under water. This is at least the second workplace accident to have taken place at Keppel's shipyard in Tuas this year, and the second to involve the collapse of a large structure.
