Oleksandr Usyk vs. Anthony Joshua 2 live fight updates, prelim ... (Sporting News)

Will it be repeat or revenge when Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua face off once again for heavyweight gold? The Sporting News will be providing live ...

- Main event: 5:15 p.m. - Main card: 12 p.m. The 25-year-old's huge reach has immediately caused problems for Jozef Jurko, his opponent known as 'The Slovakian Bulldog' who has shown ample aggression and appears to be shouting at Lapin in an attempt to incite a more toe-to-toe scrap. Lapin just landed a body shot that sounded like an axe hitting a tree. Jurko, to his credit again, responds with flashes of success on his own. The towering Kiev fighter beckons Jurko on, and his adversary raggedly goes for broke, showing impressive reserves of energy while coming no nearer to a meaningful blow. He takes a few clips to his whiskers for his trouble. Whittaker chuckles at something the exalted trainer says as he stands in wait for the fifth. "I just tried to box to my gameplan," Whittaker tells DAZN. Tabiti has a noticeable speed superiority to the heavier fighter and is finding success with his jab. When he takes him to the ropes again, an uppercut proves too much and sends Wilson down. A smooth one-two saw Alatorre decked within the final minute of the round and right hooks to body and head saw it waved off with five seconds of the round remaining.

Oleksandr Usyk bests Anthony Joshua by split decision to retain ... (ESPN)

Oleksandr Usyk retained his three heavyweight titles with a split decision victory over Anthony Joshua in their rematch on Saturday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

in June 2019 -- ESPN's Upset of the Year -- Joshua reclaimed the unified championship with a decision victory in the rematch six months later. Joshua, a 32-year-old from England, was attempting to become a three-time heavyweight champion. But before he could truly capitalize, Usyk turned the tables and responded with his best round of the fight. "This is already history," said Usyk, who like Joshua captured gold at the 2012 Olympics. Joshua threw 67 punches in the ninth and connected on 28, double his fight high. And that was the difference tonight. The 10th round was one of the best I've seen to turn a fight around. to all military members defending the country." "I want to thank everyone who prayed for me," said Usyk, the former undisputed cruiserweight champion. Fury claimed he was retired following an April victory over Dillian Whyte, only to announce a comeback earlier this month. After talks with Derek Chisora stalled, Fury reversed course and insisted again that he was retired. And if I'm not fighting Tyson Fury, I'm not fighting at all."

Oleksandr Usyk beats Anthony Joshua by split decision to retain ... (The Guardian)

The Ukrainian retained his world heavyweight titles with an impressive display in which he saw off a spirited challenge to win 115-113 and 116-112 on two ...

In the end his victory was beyond question, something Joshua, in the most unique of fashion, also had to accept. Usyk responded with a couple of clubbing lefts in the fourth that forced Joshua back while also bewitching him with his characteristically slick and clever movement. He also dominated the final two rounds and, having largely impressed throughout the contest, it came as no shock when he was declared the winner, the only surprise being that it was via a split decision, with two of the judges delivering scores of 115-113 and 116-112 in his favour while the other deemed Joshua to be the winner via a score of 115-113. A dubious call but also one that spoke to the gutsy display Joshua delivered here and ultimately it would be a shame if that was overshadowed by his flashes of petulance after the fight. The seventh and eight round were largely even and then came the ninth as Joshua exploded into life, fully using his superior size and power to rock the man in front of him. But it was at that very moment Usyk showed his class, smashing Joshua back in the 10th with a with a big left hook and continuing to unload from there. And so, ultimately, attention turned to the Abdullah Sports City Arena, an impressive venue but unfitting for a contest of this magnitude given it only has capacity for 10,000 spectators. For Usyk, meanwhile, a 20th straight win across two divisions firmly establishes himself as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world and puts him in prime position for a mouthwatering unification battle with Tyson Fury should the 35-year-old step out of his latest period of retirement. As was the case then, both fighters were asked in the buildup about how they could justify taking part in an event that, quite clearly, was part of the kingdom’s sportswashing strategy. Having appeared to exchange angry words with Usyk he then took to the microphone and, in front of a crowd of about 10,000 gathered at this venue, delivered a curious monologue. It was never going to work and he paid the price. This was meant to be Joshua’s night of redemption, when he regained the WBA, WBO and IBF titles Usyk had taken from him when the pair met in Tottenham 11 months ago.

Usyk vs AJ: Predictions from boxing experts ahead of huge ... (Sky Sports)

The huge Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua rematch is finally here. They clash tonight live on Sky Sports Box Office.

I think he's going to come out and go for it all guns blazing and go for it and he's going to do it! But I still think Usyk is too cute, too clever and he will come out on top. If Anthony Joshua can stick to the plan, I say Anthony Joshua stops Oleksandr Usyk in the mid rounds. I think Usyk will come out on top. I think the safer bet is Usyk. I want to see Joshua step up and fight Usyk back with stiff hard jabs and finishing with hooks. If AJ makes the proper adjustments, he could always score a knockout as well, but I just don't see him winning on points. He's got to be a bully. The obvious answer to who wins is Usyk wins because it was so one-sided, so conclusive in the first fight. Joshua made a lot of mistakes in the first fight with Usyk. He's got a great coach behind him who's took a lot of world champions into fights and it's interesting, I'm not sure how it's going to go. He was a little bit like a deer in the headlights, which is ridiculous because he's heavyweight champion.

Oleksandr Usyk vs. Anthony Joshua 2 fight results, highlights ... (CBSSports.com)

Usyk put on another masterful performance in the main event on Saturday to turn AJ away for a second time.

9 10 Fury has repeatedly claimed he has retired from boxing, though many believe he could be coaxed back to the ring with the promise of an undisputed title fight. This led to Joshua's biggest moment in the fight -- and the most likely chance for him to have scored a stoppage. Joshua showed that he had made some real adjustments since their September 2021 clash, fighting in a lower stance and not falling into Usyk's traps in the opening rounds. Usyk won the rematch to remain WBO, WBA and IBF heavyweight champion inside the Jeddah Superdome after 12 hard-fought rounds by split decision in a fight where there was truly no doubt he deserved to be named the victor.
