The Belgian did not play a lot for Liverpool, but his physical strength will be a huge asset in the race for first place in the standings and the prize of the top scorer. It will be very difficult for him to top the charts, mainly because in his career he has never been the focal point of an attack, but he will still be one of the players who will try to get into the top five positions come the end of the season. He could be the most pleasant surprise of Serie A; he can be the player who surprises the defenders and in a few months becomes a top player with great room for improvement. Cyriel Dessers may not play for one of the top sides in Serie A but he is a goalscoring threat He is on the last waltz of his contract with Milan, he is 36 years old and this could be the last season to establish his ability to play at a top club as a protagonist. After his experience at Genk, Dessers had dreams of playing in Serie A. One of the most illustrious leagues in the world can be the stage where he shows his qualities as a modern No 9 and Cremonese can be his springboard. Osimhen is a fast and powerful player who can take Napoli to the top and who can win the top Serie A scorer, but to do so he will need a lot of intelligence and a lot of ability to manage the difficult moments of matches. His fragile character can be a problem but this will be a decisive season for the overall judgment of a striker who has all the qualities to become one of the five strongest forwards in Europe. and don't discount Divock Origi! Now Vlahovic has a great opportunity, perhaps the most important of his career: to prove that he is a top player by bringing the Scudetto back to Turin and to take top spot on the goalscoring charts. Probably all Inter fans have a certainty: if Lukaku returns to his athletic peak and regains his ideal weight of 105kg, he will have no difficulty in becoming the King of Serie A goalscorers. - The race for the Serie A Golden Boot will be fascinating in the new season

AC MILAN v UDINESE: MATCH PREVIEW (AC Milan)

The road to the new Serie A season: everything on the opening game at San Siro.

Assisting him will be the two linesmen Bottegoni and Galetto and fourth official Gariglio; the VAR official will be Mazzoleni, aided by Brfesmes. The Rossoneri play from memory and will be supported by an army of seventy thousand people in the stands. For the coach, who is not only from Piedmont but also used to play for the bianconeri, it is his first managerial experience in the top flight after a successful year in Serie B with Ascoli. There have been some changes to the squad list over the summer, especially in defence: some of whom already turned out last weekend in the 2-1 win over Feralpisalò in the first round of the Coppa Italia. This match saw Udinese take to the field with Silvestri in goal; Pérez, Bijol, and Masina in defence; Soppy, Pereyra, Lovric, Makengo and Ebosse in midfield; with Success and Deulofeu up top and both on the scoresheet. Given the lack of players unavailable, there are many possibilities available for the coach: in the middle we could see the pairing of Krunić and Bennacer, Messias and Saelemaekers in the supporting midfield three with Díaz favourite as a Number Ten. "To see San Siro full on 13 August will be special, and we need to take energy from that. They are physical – much more than us – and organised, so we need to be shrewd and astute to take advantage of each situation.

AC Milan begin Serie A title defence with Udinese win (FRANCE 24)

AC Milan began their Italian title defence with a 4-2 win over Udinese on Saturday as the new Serie A season got underway.

However the three points and four goals were the perfect way to kick-off what is likely to be a tight title tussle in Italy, with rivals Inter Milan starting their bid to reclaim the Scudetto at newly-promoted Lecce later on Saturday. The margin of defeat was harsh on Udinese who acquitted themselves well in front of a raucous home crowd at the San Siro and went in level at two apiece at half-time. The champions bounced back from going behind with less than two minutes on the clock to claim the three points thanks to two goals from Ante Rebic, a Theo Hernando penalty and a strike from Brahim Diaz.
