Arsenal stroll as Gabriel Jesus 10/10 leads win over Leicester (ESPN)

Arsenal's new striker Gabriel Jesus scored two and assisted two in the 4-2 win over Leicester to keep up their perfect start to the season.

MF Martin Odegaard, 6 -- Odegaard was one of Arsenal's quieter midfield star as Arteta's side favoured attacking down the left channel, but the Norway international was astute in possession and looked to transition the play progressively. FW Bukayo Saka, 7 -- Saka worked hard at both ends of the pitch, with the England international ensuring that White had some defensive cover. The Brazil international was unplayable on the day, playing a direct involvement in all four goals as he also laid on two assists. MF Granit Xhaka, 7 -- He made a number of instinctive runs and eventually got on the scoresheet after Ward's error. Leicester didn't have an answer for Arteta's press, and that allowed the Gunners to recover possession on a consistent basis. 8 -- Arteta made his intentions clear from kick-off with an attacking setup that Leicester struggled to deal with.

William Saliba endured a horror moment against Leicester City when the defender headed into his own net past Aaron Ramsdale. He was forced into a situation ...

Saliba didn’t cost Arsenal any points this time, but his lack of experience in the game perhaps contributed to the error. The way they reacted was something I’ve never seen in football; the amount of support and connection they are showing with us, and especially with William, lifted the team straight away. The reaction from the Arsenal crowd after his own goal was a strong moment.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised Gabriel Jesus's positive impact on the rest of the squad after the Brazilian starred in his home debut.

"I think he's played 18 starts in the last two seasons and we're gonna demand him to start a lot of games, so we have to manage that load when we can." I think it's very natural, but at the same time, it's pretty impressive to do it that quickly." He's so mobile, so intuitive, always sharp and proactive to play in any moment and phase in the game, and it's a real threat," Arteta said.

Arteta - I wouldn't like to play against Jesus | Press conference | News (Arsenal.com)

Mikel Arteta cut a delighted figure in his post-match press conference on Saturday afternoon, following our 4-2 win over Leicester City at Emirates Stadium.

We have to be on top of that and hopefully we are. The rotation can be the same and the way that they can execute it at that speed and be that precise is completely different. I think it’s very natural, but at the same time it’s pretty impressive to do it that quickly, but then we are asking other players to score goals as well. I think it lifts the standards with the way that he’s training every day and the way that he’s talking and the way that they are connecting. I think it really lifted the confidence of Wilo and how he played the last minutes after that and for the team as well. He's so mobile, so intuitive and is always sharp and proactive to play in any moment and any phase of the game and he's a real threat.

Arsenal and refereeing decisions have not had a harmonious relationship but in the Gunners' weekend win over Leicester City something magical happened.

“When it went into the back of the net I said, ‘that’ll do for me, goal’ and I was pointing to the centre circle. Eventually, England gestured to show that the penalty was to be overruled and a goal kick given to Arsenal instead. Assessing the replays, Arsenal waited and eventually, Dean recommended England go and look at the screen to indicate he had potentially made an error of judgement.

Arsenal's opening performance against Crystal Palace was good but showed that there were still things that the team could sharpen up.

7 – Progressive passes for Martin Odegaard, leading all players. Zinchenko has been a nice complement to the skills that Kieren Tierney provides as a full back. His ability to interchange with Granit Xhaka has also been a very nice thing for Arsenal to be able to implement tactically. In this match, Arsenal were able to extend the dominance to 70 minutes and then did well to limit Leicester’s access into dangerous space for the whole match. I think looking forward we are going to think that his fee and impact on this team will be a bargain. Arsenal could axe Zinchenko after 'perfect' Arteta reveal - pundit (Football Insider)

Football Insider has been told it's only "a matter of time" until Kieran Tierney returns to replace Oleksandr Zinchenko in the Arsenal starting XI.

Zinchenko is a terrific player as well and he’s versatile which I think helps Arteta and Kieran Tierney. Again, it’s a matter of time before he comes in because I think he’s better [than Zinchenko].“ I think Kieran Tierney is outstanding, I think he’s only got better since he went down south so it’s unfortunate that he didn’t start the first game of the season. I think it will be a matter of time before he comes in.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta may now think twice before deciding which midfielder he goes for this summer.

Meanwhile, it was his midfield teammate that reminded Arteta as to why he could perhaps be the better option to chase. Arsenal's interest in Tielemans has been well documented throughout the summer and so many of their supporters gave him a warm reception when Leicester visited the Emirates Stadium at the weekend. The Gunners have been closely monitoring the Belgian after he entered the last year of his contract, presenting Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu with an opportunity to snap him up in a cut-price deal.

Undeterred, the striker led the counterpress which forced a turnover and then raced towards the box. He raced to win it back, only to give the ball away once more. Jesus became the first Arsenal player to score twice on their home Premier League debut. That was a different time. The Brazilian chased down a long ball, twisting beyond Jonny Evans before finding a team-mate. Perhaps most telling was not how Jesus ended that move but how he started it. ARSENAL star William Saliba is now regarded as one of the best young centre backs in world football following his loan spell away.

Both Nuno Tavares and Folarin Balogun made the switch to Ligue 1 clubs this summer in search of regular football and the pair have hit the ground running in style. Arteta made it clear back in March that he regards Balogun as someone capable of leading Arsenal's frontline for years. He was named Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year before returning to Arsenal where he has since finally made his Premier League debut and looks set to be a staple of Arteta's defence.

Gabriel Jesus has given Arsenal an extra attacking gear with his ... (The Athletic)

The Brazilian's willingness to make runs in behind and stretch the pitch is something Arsenal did not have enough of last season.

Their rotation can be the same and the way they can execute it at that speed and being that precise is completely different. As the first half went on, he continued to be a nuisance, with the biggest buzz coming just before half-time. Their strength in this department was evident for Jesus’ second goal, with him peeling off to the back post to head in. In The Athletic’s analysis of the strikers Arsenal were interested in this summer, written almost a month before he signed, the point was made that many teams pack their penalty areas against City, which resulted in Jesus having to create chances for himself. Post-match he added: “You can see the interactions and speed of (the) execution is a different level now. Attacking midfielders and wide players also began contributing goals, but with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struggling for form and a lack of movement in the final third from fellow front man Alexandre Lacazette, Arsenal were hindered when they reached the penalty area. We work on that every single day.” Rather than engage Jesus on this occasion, Evans backs off. That’s the direction we want to take.” He had 55 touches before coming off on 84 minutes, with 15 of those coming inside the Leicester penalty area, but was also a threat from both flanks — he was unlucky not to get another assist after driving into the box from the right and crossing into the six-yard box, where nobody in a red shirt gambled. Being alert in the box was also crucial when Arsenal were knocked back by William Saliba’s own goal early in the second half, with Jesus getting a quick touch on the ball to help it into the path of Xhaka, who quickly make it 3-1. The first goal of his hat-trick against Sevilla in the final pre-season match began with him drifting out to the left to start a move in the final third, moving the ball on and then popping up in the box to finish.

Youri Tielemans fails his Arsenal audition as Leicester continue to ... (The Athletic)

Tielemans may have been applauded by Arsenal's fans, but the Leicester midfielder's performance will not have impressed potential suitors.

Wilfred Ndidi was in that side too, as he worked on regaining his fitness after injury, and he is a nailed-on starter at the base of the midfield. That seems the case for Tielemans and it could partly explain why the types of clubs he would like to join haven’t made a move for him. They reach their natural level, and that is usually because there may be a facet of their game that is lacking to truly propel them to the highest plateau. At the age of 25 and having spent three and a half seasons at Leicester, he obviously feels the time is right for that challenge. Often he is still effective even when he isn’t given space, but there is one area of his game that has always been a weakness — a lack of running power and strength. The two went head-to-head in the red-hot heat of the midfield battle and it was a no contest.
