Match Report: Leicester City 2 - 2 Brentford (Fosse Posse)

The Foxes led 2-0 through a first-half goal from Timothy Castagne and a second-half strike by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Ivan Toney drew one back for the visitors ...

Amartey failed to close down Josh Dasilva on the edge of the area, allowing the substitute to curl a shot past the stranded Ward and secure the draw for the visitors. For a full hour, the Foxes looked like they would coast to an easy victory. If the intent was to slow the match down and prevent Brentford from getting back into the match, it didn’t work. Things were ever so comfortable for Leicester for the first quarter-hour of the second half when, out of nothing, Brentford got one back. The Shepshed Pirlo unleashed an unstoppable drive into the corner of the net to double the City advantage. On 33’, the Foxes opened the scoring in exactly the fashion one would have anticipated: A corner from Maddison found Castagne’s near-post run.

Josh Dasilva snatches late point for Brentford at Leicester City (The Guardian)

Josh Dasilva scored a late equaliser for Brentford in a 2-2 Premier League draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

“Coming back from 2-0 down to 2-2 is a massive moment. But Brentford kept believing and Frank finished the happier manager. They may not have made any signings but Rodgers did a fine job of fielding a new shape after losing Harvey Barnes and Ricardo Pereira to injury last week. Tielemans shot against a post before Leicester converted their territorial dominance into a two-goal lead 25 seconds into the second half. “If you’re chasing the game, it’s on you to try and change it.” Leicester, seemingly cruising to victory with goals from Timothy Castagne and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall just reward for their excellent first hour, dropped off in the East Midlands heat but made only one change.

Leicester hit the post for a second time through Wesley Fofana's header, before Dasilva produced his moment of magic to get Brentford a point. Dasilva went on a mazy run on the edge of the box before curling a shot into the far corner, a goal of real quality to give Brentford a point they deserved for their second-half display. A poor touch from Brentford defender Ben Mee allowed Jamie Vardy to tee up Dewsbury-Hall to fire a low shot from 30 metres into the bottom corner of the net.

Castagne put Leicester in front off a corner kick, racing to the front post to meet James Maddison’s service and put an unmarked header past David Raya. And Dewsbury-Hall’s made a habit of scoring beautiful goals, but there’s more to this story. Dasilva was good off the bench in securing a result for the Bees, the equalizer coming in the 86th minute. Timothy Castagne and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall staked the Foxes to a 2-0 lead after 46 minutes, but Ivan Toney and Joshua Dasilva scored in the final half-hour to earn Thomas Frank’s men a point.

Leicester offer legend new extended contract to thwart EPL rivals (Foxes of Leicester)

A piece of delightful update finally arrives at the doorstep for Leicester City fans, as reports Jamie Vardy's extension is along the way.

The extra special thing about this update was that Mr. Konur was kind enough to send me a message, informing about the same in its nascent stage. Leicester City could not have afforded to lose another locker room leader after losing out Kasper Schmeichel at the start of this season. Yesterday’s season-opening contest was all but harsh for the Foxes. Radical decisions, followed by tiring individuals, saw the hosts slip a 2-0 advantage against Brentford, only to be disappointed with an even draw.

What Rodgers got wrong in Leicester 2-2 Brentford (Foxes of Leicester)

It was a familiar story for Leicester City on the opening day of the 2022/23 season as the Foxes inexplicably let slip a two-goal lead.

To make matters worse, the boss did not own up in his interview but blamed issues such as fatigue, which is a stretch in the season’s first game. However, you wouldn’t have known it watching Leicester City, with Brendan Rodgers deciding to make just one substitute despite having many worthy options on the bench. After this, things unravelled like they did so many times last season except Leicester did not concede from a set-piece.
