There seem to be a couple of quality-of-life features from Pokemon Legends Arceus that won't make it into the next pair of games in the series, ...
In Legends Arceus, new learnable moves were added more subtly and you would have to actively go in and add them to your Pokemon's move roster. Still, these seemingly missing features could be a big deal to folks who value a smooth, uninterrupted gameplay experience. The second image seems to suggest another return to a pre-Legends Arceus feature.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's newly revealed Terastal phenomenon centers crystalline powers that could make reference to Generation 6's Diancie.
Its Pokemon X and Omega Ruby Pokedex entries state Diancie is a "sudden transformation" of Carbink. Both are classified as the "Jewel Pokemon," and they appear to be based on the Carbuncle of South American folklore. The Terastal phenomenon is similar exclusive to Paldea, according to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's website, being the result of "Terastal energy" that seeps from the ground. There will be three overarching stories in Scarlet and Violet for players to tackle at their own discretion, one of which is the more open-ended Pokemon League challenge. Naranja or Uva Academy director Clavell (again depending on Scarlet or Violet version) is said to be a friend of the professors in his official website bio, which is likely how the player - an academy student - gets involved with their research via an "independent study project." In typical Pokemon fashion, this means the player character will have access to this mechanic, helping Professor Sada (in Scarlet version) or Professor Turo (in Violet version) with their research. Except for Mega Evolution, which appeared in Kalos, Hoenn, and Alola, every major battle gimmick in the Pokemon series has been intrinsically tied to its originating region.

It's currently unclear if you obtain your legendary Pokémon early in the game, so it may be that Koraidon and Miraidon are mid or late-game Pokémon, and that you have to explore Paldea with more traditional forms of transportation first. We speculated that Scarlet and Violet's legendaries could be ridable vehicles back in June, where we also wondered if the gyms will have a motorsport theme. It seems like almost any kind of terrain won't be an issue for Koraidon and Miraidon, since the gameplay footage showed them climbing straight up sheer cliff faces as well as more normal grass fields and gentle waves.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be released on Nintendo Switch on Nov. 18, and ahead of that date, The Pokémon Company revealed more about Paldea region.
Pokémon in Paldea can turn into gemstones with unexpected elemental types; it’s called the Terastal Phenomenon. It sounds like there will also be crystals scattered around the land, used to recharge Tera Orbs embedded in special Tera Orbs: “It’s said that the Terastal energy that seeps from the ground of the Paldea region is involved in the phenomenon,” The Pokémon Company wrote. In fact, the game’s website confirmed that the standard champion quest is one of three storylines to expect in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. (The other two have been kept under wraps for now.) Naranja Academy and Uva Academy, respective to Scarlet and Violet, are open to both children and adults looking to learn about — and with — Pokémon, according to the Scarlet and Violet website.
From exclusive Pokémon to unique characters, different content can be found within both of the latest Pokémon games.
The outfit is topped off with black and yellow socks with brown loafers. Though not common, sometimes Pokémon titles will feature exclusive characters. Each Pokémon game, barring Pokémon Legends: Arceus, comes with its own set of version-exclusive Pokémon. This is done in a bid to encourage players to trade with one another. But there are certain Pokémon you won't be able to capture on your own and other exclusives you might very well miss unless you trade with others or purchase both games and play them separately (and even trade with yourself). If you're planning on starting your Pokémon journey with friends and plan to trade with them, knowing which version to buy is important information. Choosing which version of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet you should buy is something of a rite of passage for players.
During Wednesday's Pokémon Presents, developer Game Freak revealed a sprawling open world for players to explore in “Pokémon Scarlet” and “Pokémon Violet.
It appears as though “Scarlet” and “Violet” take heavy inspiration from that game; some open-world traveling features teased for the two upcoming games, like flying, appear nearly identical in function and animation to their “Arceus” counterpart. However, without level scaling “Scarlet” and “Violet” risk essentially funneling the player back into the same gameplay loop of the past two decades: One set path, one specific order of gyms, one route to the Elite Four. Regardless, the post indicates there is a clear path of progression from gym to gym, since some gyms are inherently “stronger” than others. Traversing the Pokémon regions from gym to gym, catching and leveling up Pokémon on a set path to the final challenge of defeating the Elite Four — it’s a gameplay loop Game Freak has relied on for two decades worth of mainline games. “These titles will be open-world RPGs, a first for the Pokémon series,” states the narration during the live stream. To understand why that seemingly-innocuous pair of sentences would give players pause, you’ll first need to understand “level scaling,” a game mechanic where enemies don’t have set levels but instead increase in level proportionally alongside a player’s own level.
Version-exclusive Pokemon, Legendaries, characters, outfits, and more detailed.
We know that there will be Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet exclusive characters. The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Legendary form differences are: We'll detail the key differences between Pokemon Scarlet and Violet below.
If you want Salamence on your team, you'll have to trade for a Tyrannitar.
And in lieu of debatably silly features like “Mega Evolution,” some Pokémon are capable of a thing called—this is a very real word, by the way—“terastallizing,” which means they cover themselves in crystals and can change their type on the fly. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are set to reimagine other long-standing aspects of the series. - Tyrannitar, the final stage of Larvitar’s evolution chain. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are no different. That quandary will remain in place for the latest games, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. - Pupitar, the second-stage evolution of Larvitar. It floats for some reason.

Some Pokemon fans are still holding out for level scaling to be present in Violet and Scarlet, however. Details shared during and after the event appear to have confirmed a leak from before that suggested the Gyms players visit in the new Paldea region would not feature level scaling, an omission which some players feel goes against the open-world nature of the next Pokemon games. If you're thinking that sounds a lot like the normal Pokemon experience, you'd be correct – that's exactly how these mainline games have worked in the past.
A known Pokemon Scarlet and Violet leaker shows a sneak peek at the first ever Poison and Steel hybrid Pokemon in the series.
It's a bit lacking on the offensive side when it comes to move coverage, but the concept of an engine Pokemon that's Poison/Steel is quite creative and compelling for the series. This Pokemon's design is not completely visible, but it is fitting for a Poison/Steel hybrid considering that the engine is made of metal and pollutes the surrounding area. The third official trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet came out yesterday, and The Pokemon Company finally showcased some of the biggest features of Gen 9, such as the Terastal phenomenon.
After the recent trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, fans have tons of questions and we have some answers.
Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are not remakes. In a first for the mainline series, Pokemon trainers will be able to explore the region of Paldea with up to three friends online. In the presentation, fans were treated to some exciting new details about the new region, the new Pokemon, and a new gameplay mechanic called Terastallization, in which Pokemon can gain strength during battle by turning themselves into shiny jewels, taking on a new type in the process.
