Diego Luna stars as Cassian Andor in the prequel to 2016's Rogue One.
It’s the beginning of the origins of a revolution, and it’s a beautiful story because it reminds us what we are capable of, what we are all capable of. “We’re going to meet him when life is tough, it’s a very dark and interesting life because it’s just a regular guy that suddenly has to become part of something bigger, has to become part of a community that rises. The new trailer for Andor has landed, and it comes bearing gifts—namely, glimpses of all-new characters and an official release date.
Star Wars fans received a major shock on Monday morning when the official trailer for Andor revealed a release date of September 21, not the August 31 date ...
So while we may have to wait a little longer for Andor, Disney+ may try to keep the gaps between Star Wars and Marvel content even shorter going forward. Without a big archive and a constant flow of new releases, it’s difficult to keep subscribers around month to month. But how does all that affect Andor? Well, the Disney+ business model relies on new work releasing every month to keep subscribers from canceling.
Lucasfilm has dropped a revealing new batch of still from Andor, while it's been confirmed that the show's premiere has been delayed by a number of weeks ...
Andor explores a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. Earlier today, Disney+ released a new trailer for Andor that, quite frankly, makes the show look nothing short of essential viewing. Elsewhere, we see Cassian in an Imperial uniform, Death Troopers, and some intriguing new locations.
Andor, the upcoming Star Wars live-action series on Disney+, won't only bring back Saw Gerrera but also Chancellor Valorum!
Andor has been delayed to Sept. 21, but the wait also means the first three episodes of the series will drop that Wednesday! It seems Luthen is being set up as a previously unknown founder of the Rebel Alliance, and also doesn’t seem afraid to get his own hands dirty by the way he shoots at TIE fighters in one scene. We see them operating on the character played by Alex Lawther (The End of the F***ing World). Since Andor takes place five years before the events of Rogue One, it doesn’t look like the Partisans have yet settled on Jedha to sabotage the Imperial kyber crystal mining operation, which is why their base looks a bit different in this trailer. When it drops on streaming later this fall, Andor is poised to finally deliver the backstory for one of the best Star Wars characters of the Disney era. In the trailer, we watch him not only meeting with Genevieve O’Reilly’s Mon Mothma on Coruscant but also trying to recruit Saw Gerrera and Cassian to his new cause.
"Star Wars" series "Obi-Wan Kenobi" and "The Mandalorian" used an LED wall called StageCraft to create images in real time on set. "Andor" avoided it.
StageCraft can be a money-saving mechanism, and building practical sets could have inflated "Andor's" production costs. The volume on a set is typically the space where a green screen would be located and images would be created. The tech was used on "Rogue One," however.

The Andor series explores a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. It’s an era filled with danger, deception, and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero. Today, Disney+ released an exciting new trailer and key art for Andor, an original, 12-episode series from Lucasfilm. Disney is getting slammed by "Star Wars" fans for showing an AK-47 in a trailer for the upcoming series "Andor."
According to Britannica, it is “possibly the most widely used shoulder weapon in the world.” Instead, he used the gun as the basis by which to create the fictional A280 blaster rifle, which was famously featured in the film. While none of those mass shootings were carried out with an AK-47, the alleged perpetrators used similar weapons to slaughter their victims. Hell, the guy looks like he’s wearing a jacket and hoodie. “That design clearly being a prop AK-47 is just lazy. So very tired.”
The video wall used in Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Book Of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian wasn't used on the Rogue One spin-off. Read more at Empire.
“Yep, we’re old-school,” chuckles series mastermind (and Rogue One alumnus) Tony Gilroy, in Empire’s major new Andor feature – coming soon in the House Of The Dragon issue. “As an actor, it’s beautiful,” says Luna on the practical production. “In Pitlochry, Scotland, we had to walk for hours up a mountain to set up one shot,” says Luna. “Huge effort. Amazing! Like being on another planet.” Prepare for Andor to make the Star Wars galaxy feel bigger than ever before. Upcoming Rogue One prequel series Andor – telling the story of Diego Luna’s rebel Cassian Andor amid the rising rebellion in the five years running up to that movie – went predominantly practical with its environments. As new documentary series Light & Magic makes clear, Star Wars has always been at the forefront of technical innovations in movie production.
In choosing not to use StageCraft or The Volume, Star Wars: Andor has broken a major Disney+ filming trend.
While it's true that Star Wars has revolutionized the technical side of the film industry time and again, it's done so in narratives where tech is often perceived as a threat. “In Pitlochry, Scotland, we had to walk for hours up a mountain to set up one shot,” says Luna. “Huge effort. It's faster, cheaper, streamlines production, and in the true Star Wars tradition, is revolutionizing the way films and television are made. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stunned audiences in 2016 with its gorgeous visuals and varied locations. This is known as The Volume. When A New Hope premiered in 1977, it wasn't just a fun ride but a technological achievement that changed the way movies were made.
The series will pick up where 2016's 'Rogue One' left off.
George Lucas always said the rebels were based on groups like the viet cong so maybe its a nod to that?” one wrote. Hell, the guy looks like he’s wearing a jacket and hoodie. “That design clearly being a prop AK-47 is just lazy.

So it's funny that the Andor propmaster looked at an AK-47 and said, 'no notes.'"\r\nIt's also worth mentioning that some viewers are upset by the weapon's presence due to recent mass shootings in Uvalde, Texas, Buffalo, New York, and Highland Park, Illinois, just to name a few.\r\nCheck out more Twitter reactions to the Andor trailer below, and tap back in with HNHH later for more pop culture news updates.\r\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\r\n[Via] The most recent controversy to plague the beloved cinematic universe comes after the arrival of the Andor prequel series trailer earlier today (August 1).\r\nWhile many were excited to see what the upcoming Diego Luna-led series has in store, they were just as quickly turned off by the sighting of an AK-47 being carried by an unknown character just a few seconds into the clip.\r\n\r\nJesse Grant\/Getty Images\r\nAs the New York Post notes, longtime lovers of George Lucas' franchise have dubbed the use of the real-world weapon "lazy," pointing out that this would be the "first time an unmodified real-life weapon has appeared in the Star Wars world." \r\nIn the past, prop teams have used actual models as the basis for their fictional creations, though nothing this blatantly recognizable has ever been carried by a character on-screen.\r\n\r\n"Blasters in Star Wars have always been based on real-world guns," one Twitter user pointed out.

Andor explores a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. First utilised on the set of The Mandalorian, it allows Lucasfilm to digitally create backgrounds while shooting is taking place. The Inverse Analysis — Andor’s latest trailer suggests that it’s going to bring back the gritty visual style that Rogue One established. However, while it remains to be seen just how well Andor actually manages to recapture Rogue One’s scope, the trailer suggests that it’s at least going to make the attempt. However, the prequel remains one of the most visually interesting Star Wars movies to date.
Star Wars fans have known for a while now that actor Stellan Skarsgard would be playing a major role in Andor. As marketing ramped up for Andor in recent ...
They might even be wary of other each other and only learn of their true motives and team up later in the season. There is also the possibility that even though they are both working towards a Rebel Alliance, they never actively work together or trust each other. With Cassian and Mon Mothma having parallel storylines and being separate for most of the season, it seems that Luthen Rael will be the connective tissue between their stories. This could mean that Luthen Rael has felt like he’s been hiding behind his comfortable life on Coruscant and that while that façade may be slipping away, it is okay as he is embracing his true self. Much like Mon Mothma, he appears to be playing a double life. This trailer shows him in these environments as he not only recruits Cassian, but also Saw Gerrera and his Partisans.
The show is described as a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on the journey of smuggler and Rebel spy Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). The series ...
Adria Arjona, from Good Omens, is the most recent addition to the cast. The very talented Forest Whitaker reprises his role as Saw Gerrera, a character first seen in Rogue One in 2016. In recent years, the Star Wars franchise has been dominated by an abundance of Mandalorians with helmets (Din Djarin is a prime example) and surprise ...
Since Andor is a prequel to that, and has so much more going for it as well, this new series might be the best show set in a galaxy far, far away yet. This was extreme to say the least, as not even The Mandalorian was this reliant on the new technology. The Mandalorian was careful not to push the limits of the technology too far, but Obi-Wan Kenobi fell into this trap, which ultimately resulted in some bland, or even bizarre, sequences and episodes. In A New Hope, the Rebels who stole the Death Star plans were never named or mentioned much at all outside of the opening crawl, meaning that it would be hard to believe that Leia, Luke, Han, and the rest of the Rebels didn’t mention an Imperial spy or anything along those lines. Put all this together, and Andor already has more going for it than other shows set in a galaxy far, far away. In recent years, the Star Wars franchise has been dominated by an abundance of Mandalorians with helmets (Din Djarin is a prime example) and surprise appearances by well-known Jedi (such as Luke Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano). In a lot of ways, especially when it comes to Jedi, it is normal for the series to focus on these sorts of aspects of a galaxy far, far away.
