Liverpool had their transfer business for 2022 effectively done and dusted by 21 June. As Chelsea and others flounder, FSG remain firmly on top of the pile.

Liverpool have been embroiled in their own sagas in the past, of course, but in recent windows they have operated with impressive efficiency. They are kings of the transfer market. If only the same could be said for Chelsea and co. That presented Barcelona with an opportunity to swoop in, and by the time the Blues had changed their minds once again and tried to resurrect the deal, Koundé was bound for the Nou Camp in a £42m deal. In all of these cases, there is a lack of conviction. But by then, the Reds had already swooped for his replacement.
