In the short term it supports my mental health as well as my heart, lungs and bones but in the long term itโ€™s also about keeping my independence, as some of my health issues will deteriorate as I get older, and I can delay this a bit through activity. "I was pretty aware of lane three and I could see Zac on the turns. Taking over from him was Hopkin, highly experienced in relay environments after recent years, and she produced another solid leg ahead of the anchor for Anderson, whose fast finish ensured the home team closed in slightly on eventual winners Australia, with Canada in third. This has been on the schedule for the last few years, we are putting together a really strong team and that is showing." I can't complain, one race, one medal, and to do it alongside these teammates is really special. A silver for England in the Mixed 4x100m Freestyle Relay rounded out Friday's racing. Toni said: "I am absolutely buzzing and I do not have any words, I was most excited to get one of the toy bulls. Up against the world record holder, one of the best 200m breaststrokers in the world, I put in a good race and challenged him for that top spot." I really enjoyed it, it was a really good race. The Australian drew level with around 30m to go, and the final exchanges were hugely entertaining, as the pair matched each other stroke for stroke. I was really pushed on by the crowd. It was clear from the opening 25m what James Wilby's race plan was, the Loughborough Performance Centre man taking charge and going out at 50m under world-record pace. Now I have my medal, I have no words and I am really happy.

I hit a wall at about 27 [km] just because of the hills and the turns and it was incredibly complicated.

Australia off to a flyer as swim stars shine at Birmingham 2022 ... (The Star Online)

Australia dominated the first night of action in the Commonwealth Games pool in Birmingham on Friday to race clear at the top of medals table.

"My coach and I always say it's pretty hard being the hunted but having that world record there means I am still the hunter." "Moll has been killing in training, she is young, feisty, hungry -- I knew she would be there," Titmus told Australia's Channel 7. In the cycling events, taking place in London, Australia won the women's 4,000 metres team pursuit and New Zealand won the men's event. The 22-year-old, who was inside world record pace for much of the race, tired in the latter stages, clocking 3:43.06. The double Olympic champion was in control for most of the race but was hunted down the final stretch, edging home by just 0.12sec in a new Games record of 1min 53.89sec. Titmus, who won 200m and 400m freestyle gold at last year's Tokyo Olympics, was given a mighty scare in the women's 200m freestyle at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre by 18-year-old compatriot Mollie O'Callaghan.
