Although players will first encounter Gotsumon during the game's prologue, the first chance that they'll get to befriend it comes during the following part. Gazimon can first be found in Part 2 of Digimon Survive, although not until after players have unlocked the "Free Bat." area outside the school. Choosing the best response will reward players with two points and they'll need three or more in total in order to ask Gazimon to be friends. They'll then be faced with three questions or statements and will need to choose the best of four possible responses in order to get in Gazimon's good books. Interestingly, Gazimon uses the same seven lines of dialogue as Gotsumon, though the optimal responses are a little different this time around. This all changes pretty quickly mind, with more and more Digimon showing up as the main story of Digimon Survive progresses. When players reach Part 2, for example, they'll meet several new Digimon out in the Free Battle area near the school.

Digimon Survive players can befriend Biyomon from Part 2 onward, though will need to choose the right responses if they want it to join their team.

Sadly, the only way to cycle through these enemies is to complete or flee from battles, so it may take a while to get Biyomon to show up. In fact, there are several occasions when being brutally honest is the best course of action, so players should keep this in mind when responding to the Digimon's questions and statements. Gotsumon and Betamon can be recruited in Part 1, and Part 2 brings with it several other new Digimon for players to make friends with.
