Meet the Black women pushing for equality in swimming (CNN)

Omie Dale has fond memories of splashing in the sea as a child, of racing through water parks and swimming in backwaters and rivers.

"Each story is different, each person is different and has to be understood in their own way, and there's nothing wrong with that, that's just another challenge that we have to face and we're up for it. "FINA continues to work hard to ensure that the global aquatics community is a place where all athletes, coaches and administrators are treated equally. "Our goal is to facilitate opportunities and make sure they're good ones. Dale also volunteers with Mental Health Swims, a grassroots organization that facilitates swimming meet-ups for people struggling with their mental health. "It's not all about the economic side of things. "I take the two of them just as they are -- kind of like separate things. She saw there was a difference when private schools and independent schools would come in and all the kids were able to swim, yet hardly any children of the same age that Dale saw from state schools could swim 25 meters. "We've got to do something. We've got to do it now. Even after legal racial segregation ended in the US in 1964, public pools continued to be hostile environments. We've got to do it now. We've got to do something.

CEO Buys 3BlackDot, Making It One of the Few Black-Owned Media ... (The Wall Street Journal)

Reginald Cash said he acquired 3BlackDot, a media and marketing company focused on videogamers, from French publisher Webedia.

He joins a small group of Black media entrepreneurs after marketers and agencies committed to spending more money with Black-owned businesses. The company appeals to creators by promising them more creative control and a bigger share of profits than traditional production companies, he said. Since the protests following the 2020 murder of George Floyd, 3BlackDot has made an effort to work with more Black gamers and members of other underrepresented groups, Mr. Cash said. โ€œWe see a lot of value in those quieter spaces,โ€ he said. Paid impressions include various types of ads and paid content promotion, while earned impressions are things like social-media shares, reviews and media coverage. The company said it represents about 100 creators.
