Taiwanese singer Jimmy Lin was injured on Friday (Jul 22) after his Tesla car crashed into an electrical pole at a road divider in Taiwan's Taoyuan City.

"We'd like to sincerely thank the people who helped rescue Mr Lin and his son from the car. His condition is "relatively stable," the statement said. He and one of his twin sons Jenson were rescued by passers-by.

"All vehicles that meet national safety standards do not include particularly flammable materials," the employee was quoted as saying to JW View. Lin and his son sustained injuries and were taken to hospital. Chinese media outlet JW View reported on Friday that Tesla's customer service staff said that the body of the vehicle that Lin was driving contained no flammable material, and the cause of the fire is still unclear.

Lin was driving a white Tesla when the car was believed to have hit the road divider and caught fire.

A blood alcohol test showed he was not drinking before the accident. Lin's wife and family have been spotted at the hospital where he is warded. Eye-witnesses said Lin's face was covered with blood and his arm appeared to have been dislocated.

Lin's agency said in a press statement that Lin was grateful to those who had helped him and his son at the scene as well as the staff at Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, where they both were being treated. While construction workers and others in the vicinity were able to pull Lin and his six-year-old son from the car, the totaled vehicle can be seen engulfed in flames in video later shot by bystanders. According to eyewitnesses, the electric vehicle had burst into flames some five minutes after Lin and his son were rescued.
