Release clause in Dybala contract with Roma - Football Italia (Football Italia)

Paulo Dybala has agreed to sign for Roma, but there are reports this deal includes a release clause set at €20m.

The decision surprised many, as the Giallorossi are not in the Champions League this season, but are fresh from winning the debut edition of the Europa Conference League. That suggests Dybala wanted a way out in case Roma fail to qualify for the Champions League next season. It is expected to run for three years with an option for a fourth campaign.

Paulo Dybala to Roma: Jose Mourinho has serious squad depth for ... (GiveMeSport)

Jose Mourinho's Roma have decided to bring Paulo Dybala to the club on a free transfer after he decided not to extend his stay at Juventus.

Abraham absolutely smashed it in his first season with Roma after arriving from Chelsea, while Zaniolo is widely regarded as one of the best young footballers in Serie A – and rightly so. As well as possessing a starting XI that’s a match for any other Serie A side, Roma have a plethora of quality options waiting in the wings. While the former Palermo forward has struggled with injuries to a degree over the past few years, he’s still one of the very best in the business when fully fit.

Dybala won't take Totti's 10 shirt at Roma - Football Italia (Football Italia)

Paulo Dybala is expected to wear the Number 21 jersey at Roma, despite Francesco Totti offering to give him the historic 10.

Meanwhile, new signing Nemanja Matic will take the Number 8 jersey at the Stadio Olimpico, giving up the 21 he had previously chosen. The 10 has not been formally retired, but nobody has dared wear it since Totti hung up his boots in 2017. There had been hope Dybala would inherit the Number 10 jersey, which was iconic after being worn by former captain Totti for two decades.
