After the reveal of Kamala Khan being a mutant in the MCU, a post-credits scene offered up a connection to The Marvels. The Marvels will be where Kamala appears next, due in theaters in 2023. The timing of these reveals in Ms. Marvel is really something. Just like that, the mutant gene has been introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios recently featured Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, killing off the leader of an alternate universe's X-Men characters as quickly as he was introduced. First of all, Ms. Marvel got her name of "Ms. Marvel," when her father called her just that late in the episode. However, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kamala has a mutant gene. She also said, "Embiggen," which is her popular word when using her powers in comics, although the powers look quite different on the pages.

'Ms Marvel' Post-Credit Scene Explained: How Show Sets Up 'The ... (Newsweek)

"Ms Marvel" came to a conclusion on Wednesday, July 13 but not before one post-credit scene sets up Kamala Khan's future with Brie Larson's Carol Danvers.

Confused by this, Kamala shakes the bangle only to be launched into the air and into her wardrobe, only it seems she's actually transported elsewhere because the person that comes out of her closet is not Kamala but Carol Danvers. It now appears to be clear that the beacon was actually coming from Kamala's bangle, or at least that seems to be the explanation that makes the most sense. Now known to the world, and dropping her pesky first nickname Night Light, Kamala regularly ventures out in her new costume to test out her abilities.

Ms Marvel finale post-credits scene includes major MCU hero (Radio Times)

Kamala Khan looks like she's in some trouble in Ms Marvel's new after credits scene.

Of course, fans will already know that Kamala is due to appear in upcoming Captain Marvel sequel The Marvels (alongside Larson and Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau), and this scene appears to give us a hint about the plot of that movie. Could Kamala's bracelet - apparently taken off a Kree arm by the Clan Destines, remember - be what landed her in this mess? Suddenly, her bracelet begins to grow and throb strangely, and a moment later Kamala appears to warp away in a squiggle of energy while another figure crashes into her wardrobe.

'Ms. Marvel' post-credits scene: Here's what happened and what it ... (NME.com)

True to form for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the season finale of 'Ms. Marvel' has given fans a taste of what's to come.

However, the young hero was soon called to action once again when her bangle began to glow and pulse in a more mysterious way than usual. Setting up the plot for that film, the Ms. Marvel post-credit scene seemed to imply Kamala and Carol have switched places in the universe, meaning the young hero could now be somewhere far more dangerous. 'Ms. Marvel' End Credits Scene Teases 'The Marvels' (Decider)

If that mid-credits teaser and A-lister cameo has you confused, keep reading. SPOILERS ahead! Ms. Marvel after credits scene explained. At the halfway point of ...

Ms. Marvel is gone and Captain Marvel is here. For now, though, Ms. Marvel’s mid-credits scene gives us our first glimpse of what The Marvels‘ plot is gonna be. It’s incredibly likely that we just saw the first usage of the Nega-Bands. I explained this in the Easter eggs post for Episode 4, and this scene seems to confirm it. There was also mention of another bangle back in Ms. Marvel Episode 4, which we still haven’t seen. At the halfway point of the credits, we open up again on the Khan family home in Jersey City. Kamala, in full Ms. Marvel gear, falls down on her bed in exhaustion. Ms. Marvel threw fans a curveball by actually ending its finale with a completely different twist, but the post-credits scene was exactly what we wanted — albeit still not what we expected!

The Marvels Set Photos Reveal First Look at Ms. Marvel's Return (The Direct)

Will the Kree be the creators of the mutants in the MCU, instead of the Inhumans as they are in the comics? As mentioned above, in that first set photo with Ms. Marvel's new costume, a Kree can clearly be seen sitting on the floor. Could Marvel be gearing up to combine the mythos of Inhumans and mutants in some way? Maybe in the midst of using it, she accidentally made a connection with its pair, causing the two to switch positions. The images showcased Ms. Marvel in a brand-new costume, in an unknown alien location. Who would have guessed that Ms. Marvel was going to be the MCU project which gave the world the first mutant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Or at least that’s what it looks like from here.

How The Ms. Marvel Finale Sets Up The Marvels (/FILM)

This article contains major spoilers for the finale of "Ms. Marvel." From the streets of Jersey City to the superhero underworld of Karachi to the horrors ...

For those in need of a quick refresher, 2019's "Captain Marvel" laid out the 1990s-set origin story of how ace pilot Carol Danvers found herself stripped of her memories, imbued with immensely powerful energy-based abilities, and taken to utterly alien worlds to put her powers to good use. The location-swapping incident with Kamala may provide the answer of how "The Marvels" will begin. Though some may believe this is an example of Kamala's shapeshifting powers in action, transforming her into the legendary Captain Marvel that she's always wanted to be, it's far more likely that both Kamala and Carol have literally switched places. Though perhaps not interrogated quite as in-depth as the source material did, this integral facet of her personality (combined with the valuable lessons imparted by her parents) clearly led her on the path to becoming a selfless superhero in her own right. The introductory chapter of Kamala's story came to a stirring close with today's season finale, tying up all the loose ends from last week's sweeping romance and finally establishing young Kamala as the superhero she was born to be. We've come a long way since the first "Iron Man" in 2008, where much of the only nonwhite presence consisted of Afghan terrorist antagonists embodying every eyeroll-worthy stereotype that persisted throughout the so-called War on Terror. Things couldn't be more different on the newest Disney+ series, led by Iman Vellani's star-making turn as Kamala Khan and bolstered by an impressive attention to detail in its Muslim representation.

And then the scene ended, just letting viewers know that Ms. Marvel would return in The Marvels. The Ms. Marvel show on Disney Plus is different. Ms. Marvel is also a show about a girl who loves the Avengers and suddenly gets superpowers. I’ll spare some of the details for those that have not read it yet, but things were not looking good in Jersey City, and Kamala escaped to a rooftop to collect her thoughts. Jacket and pants? Three quarter sleeves and fingerless gloves?

Ms. Marvel Episode 6 Credits Scene Explained: How It Sets Up ... (TheWrap)

Carol Danvers and Kamala Khan will be joined by Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau in the film, who made her first appearance in the Disney+ series “WandaVision” as ...

And who knows, perhaps this credits scene is actually just a full scene from “The Marvels” (as the MCU has frequently done before). Carol Danvers and Kamala Khan will be joined by Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau in the film, who made her first appearance in the Disney+ series “WandaVision” as a S.W.O.R.D. agent and who is the daughter of Carol’s best friend Maria Rambeau, played by Lashana Lynch in the first “Captain Marvel” movie. Larson was expected to appear in “Ms. Marvel” in some capacity given Khan’s involvement in “The Marvels,” but it was nice to see her cameo held until the finale credits scene. It’s no secret that the star of the new Disney+ Marvel series “Ms. Marvel” — Kamala Khan played by Iman Vellani — is poised to appear in the upcoming “Captain Marvel” sequel “The Marvels.” But the “Ms. Marvel” finale credits scene teased Khan’s involvement in “Captain Marvel 2” in a big and perhaps surprising way. It’s possible, then, that the plot of “The Marvels” – or at least part of the plot – finds Captain Marvel suddenly transported back to Earth, needing to find her way back to wherever she came from to help rescue Ms. Marvel. As for Khan, who knows what kind of trouble she’s gotten into now – although the six-episode Disney+ series proved that she can more than hold her own. As is customary for Marvel TV shows, the finale credits scene appears midway through the full credits, and begins with Khan laying on her bed in her Ms. Marvel uniform, now confident as a superhero (and perhaps also a mutant). But her bangles begin to buzz, and when she stands up to investigate, some kind of force blows her into her closet.

Danvers (Larson) looks around the teenager’s room, which is more or less a shrine to the superhero, and instantly realizes something bad has occurred. Collapsing on her bed at home after overcoming the Department of Damage Control, Kamala Khan (Vellani) is suddenly ripped away by a blast of energy that appears to emulate from her bangle. And sure enough, she does in the post-credits scene.

MS. MARVEL's Big MCU Revelation Is One of the Most Exciting Ever (Nerdist)

Her powers don't solely come from her innate Noor abilities. No. Ms. Marvel's MCU powers also come from a mutation in her genes. Just in case there was any ...

These are just a fraction of the questions we have because now that mutants have truly arrived in the MCU the possibilities for introducing more of them seem infinite. Will Kamala’s comic book bud Wolverine show up in The Marvels? Will we learn more than we expected from X-Men ’97? What other superheroes in the MCU are going to learn they also have a genetic mutation they never knew about? Could it have been the near-birth and death of a Celestial? Or does the force have to happen much closer to an individual? We know why you have access to the Noor and how you can wield it, but when I compared you to the rest of your family something still seemed off. And that difference not only helped made her a superhero, but it changed the MCU forever. No. Ms. Marvel‘s MCU powers also come from a mutation in her genes.

Is Kamala Khan a mutant? Ms. Marvel's ending, explained (Polygon)

Ms. Marvel on Disney Plus has already reinvented Kamala Khan from her comic book origin. But the show had one final twist for viewers: Kamala's DNA is ...

Marvel Studios has yet to announce any concrete plans for the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But some major opportunities for the company to do so are swiftly approaching. With Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, the licensing of X-Men characters is no longer a hurdle. And at Marvel Comics, mutant status started to be an editorial planning point of nonzero significance, as it could very directly determine how available the character would be for broader use by the rest of Marvel Entertainment and the Walt Disney Company. But ironically there have never been more consequences to revealing that a non-mutant character is a mutant in Marvel Comics, due to the current status quo of the X-Men. Right now, in Marvel Comics, every mutant on Earth has protection under international law as a citizen of the living island of Krakoa, access to Krakoa’s global network of teleportation gates, and to mutant resurrection, a kind of de facto immortality. Absolutely not, which is what makes this mind-blowing for fans of Marvel Comics. In fact, Kamala is kind of the opposite of a mutant. That same year, one of the publisher’s rising stars, Squirrel Girl, was cheekily retconned out of the mutant status we’d been told she had for years. The companies’ licensing agreements meant that mutant-associated characters couldn’t appear in MCU movies, and non-mutant associated characters couldn’t appear in X-Men movies. “‘If any of [Kamala’s family] put the bangle on, would they have powers?’ The answer was always no, from a character perspective, no.” But however the cast and crew took it, in the show, Kamala shrugs it off. I was just blessed and lucky enough to be able to share that with Iman and everybody else.” “It was hilarious,” he told Marvel.com, “because she just was like, ‘This is so cool.’ She couldn’t believe that I was saying this to her. seemed off.” He tells her that there’s “something different” in her genes.

Everything We Know About Ms. Marvel Season 2 (menshealth.com)

The Ms. Marvel Season 1 finale just aired. Here's everything we know about a potential Season 2, and when The Marvels will release in theaters.

We don't know where Kamala is, or even how Carol managed to switch places with her, but it's clear the show is directly leading into The Marvels, so we'll have to wait for answers when the movie premieres in July 2023. Or is there more of an individual story to tell about the MCU’s first Pakistani-American superhero? Most Marvel shows on Disney+ so far have served as introductions to new characters, or transformations of the heroes we already know. So we don't know yet whether we'll get more solo stories for Kamala on Disney+, or if her arc will continue only in the movies. Suddenly, her bangle began to glow and in a surprising twist, she and Carol Danvers switched places! Of course, Marvel has the next phase planned out, but they don’t like to give too much about it away.

The 'Ms. Marvel' finale has big implications for the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — from that bombshell musical cue to that intriguing end-credits ...

And Kamala's mutant genes weren't the only surprise in the Ms. Marvel finale. Ms. Marvel's mutant lineage is also a major departure from the comics. That reveal is accompanied by the familiar notes of the 1990s animated X-Men show, teasing that yes, Kamala is a mutant. No Marvel project is complete without an end-credits scene, and after the episode concludes, we see a brief glimpse of Kamala back in her room. Theoretically she and her brother Aamir should have similar DNA, but Kamala's genetic makeup looks a bit different. Marvel's latest Disney+ saga introduced Iman Vellani as the titular hero, a bright-eyed high schooler taking her first steps toward superheroism.

Brie Larson Just Revealed Her Stunning New Captain Marvel ... (The Direct)

Brie Larson's Carol Danvers got her second new costume in Phase 4 of the MCU.

There is also a little bit of gold on her belt, although blue is the most eye-catching color in this design along with the small portion of red on her shoulders above the Kree insignia. This suit was largely the same one that Larson used at the start of Avengers: Endgame, although there was more gold than red on her shoulders. Even with such a short MCU tenure under her belt so far, Brie Larson's Captain Marvel has built an extensive collection of costumes she's donned since 2019. This look is quite different than her first suit from 2019's Captain Marvel, which took its design almost directly from the Marvel Comics pages. She also has what appear to be golden gauntlets on her wrists below the classic fingerless blue gloves she's worn in past costumes. Carol then flew into the final battle of Avengers: Endgame with a brand new look after five years away from Earth. This time, the blue of her suit was on her shoulders and gauntlets while the red came through on the rest of the outfit, and she appeared to have more protection in her mid-section as well.
