ENG vs IND: Rohit Sharma-Shikhar Dhawan complete 5000 ... (ThePrint)

London [UK], July 12 (ANI): Indian opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan on Tuesday completed 5,000 ODI runs as an opening pair.

Continuing the proceedings at a steady rate, Rohit brought up his half-century in 49 balls and helped Team India reach the 100-run mark in 18 overs. Chasing 111, Team India started off on a decent note with the opening pair of Rohit and Dhawan steadily taking the innings forward. The first on the list is Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly with a total of 6,609 runs.

England vs India, 1st ODI (Cricbuzz)

With matches coming thick and fast, a week can seem like a long time. On July 5, England had their epoch-making moment in Test cricket by overhauling a target of 378 to secure parity in the series against India. Amidst ...

But in the longer run, the ramped-up tempo is set to bring in rewards. As India and England travel to London to play the first ODI, the 50-over champions would be confident that despite a few malfunctioning nuts and bolts, the base of their edifice structure is still strong. The cast is mostly the same but the theme of the plot seems to have changed a bit. At the start of the year, England slipped to a series loss in the shortest format versus the West Indies. Just a few days ago, India clipped England's wings further by sealing the three-match T20I series at the same ground where the hosts had chased down 378. One of the silver linings from the T20Is was Reece Topley's ability to vary his pace, alongside mixing up his lengths and angles. On July 5, England had their epoch-making moment in Test cricket by overhauling a target of 378 to secure parity in the series against India. Amidst England's renaissance of sorts in the longest format, they have been balancing on a tightrope in limited overs cricket.

England redefined the way ODI cricket was played and their dominant run culminated with the World Cup trophy back in 2019.

India hammer England in first one-day international – as it happened (The Guardian)

England were outclassed at the Oval with Jasprit Bumrah taking six wickets before India chased down their target without loss.

That said, all the Indians have to do to win is get off to a flyer, and we can be sure they will give it a go. Afternoon everyone and thanks Simon. Ever since he led India to a resounding defeat in the Test match, Jasprit Bumrah has been on a one-man vengeance mission. 18.4 overs: India 114-0 (Rohit 76, Dhawan 31) Carse continues – and continues to believe that banging it in is the way to go. 1st over: India 1-0 (Rohit 1, Dhawan 0) David Willey opens the bowling and there’s nearly a run-out first ball! Rohit Sharma dabs into the on side and sets off for a ridiculous run. 5th over: India 14-0 (Rohit 13, Dhawan 1) Watching his mate plod along, Rohit feels the need for a six! Rohit, himself again, plays a straight drive, Willey gets a hand to it and Dhawan, who is dozin’, would be out if the ball hadn’t just missed the stumps. 9th over: India 46-0 (Rohit 28, Dhawan 15) After that shocker of a last over, Buttler shows some faith in Topley and it’s repaid with a maiden to Dhawan. Topley now has a peculiar set of figures: 4-2-22-0. 18.4 overs: India 114-0 (Rohit 76, Dhawan 31) Carse continues – and continues to believe that banging it in is the way to go. 8th over: India 46-0 (Rohit 28, Dhawan 15) Did somebody say these conditions would suit Craig Overton? Not on the evidence of this over, which contains two wides, a few singles and a bouncer that Rohit slaps away for four. “Athletic, rhythmical, got a yard of pace over everyone else in county cricket.” Carse has improved, Morgan feels, each time he’s been called up for England. Carse lives up to this by beating Rohit on the inside edge and going up for LBW. Not given, so England review (may as well). Is it a bit high? Jos Buttler played a captain’s innings, rather in the style of Joe Root in the bad old days of the Test side, but when he was out for 30 off 32, the game was up.

ENG VS IND: BCCI Drops A Massive Hint On Virat Kohli's ... (The twelfth Man Times)

ENG VS IND: The first ODI between England cricket team and Indian cricket team turned out to be a low-scoring affair.

Perhaps, he is likely to feature in the second game after BCCI shared a pic of Virat Kohli hitting the nets ahead of the game. His participation in the second ODI was also doubtful. However, it is presumed that the niggle forced the Indian team management to rest him for the game. The second game will kick off at Lord’s in London on July 14, Thursday. Rohit Sharma did the right thing to bowl first and the bowlers exposed England’s frailties with ease. Indians made use of the conditions to better effect after winning the toss.

They have recently set the highest ODI total of 498 runs and will need to do something of that sort to keep the series alive. Fires in the yorker and the batter survives, a couple of runs for England. Meanwhile Pandya proved his peak fitness today as he went onto bowl 6 overs and gave away 29 runs, picking up a couple of wickets. After a stunning 10-wicket win, Rohit Sharma’s Team India will eye an unassailable lead in the 3-match series when they take the field against England in the 2nd ODI at the iconic Lord’s. The last game ended before its scheduled time; courtesy of Jasprit Bumrah’s career-best figures of 6/19 and Shami’s 3-wicket haul that bundled out the hosts for a paltry 110 inside 26 overs. IND 0/0 in 1 over That was 122 kmph from Bumrah. So, the first ball goes for six and the next ball fetches two more runs. India had won the toss and asked England to take strike at Lord’s especially after what happened at Lord’s. Nonetheless, the hosts responded well with an opening stand of 41 runs. England have to continue the momentum from here. He punched the first one down the ground for a lovely boundary and then followed with a special cover drive to collect 8 runs off the over. Excellent start from the England bowlers as David Willey also bowled a maiden here. The sun is out which is definitely a great sign for the visitors. It was not the best of deliveries from Topley but Dhawan poked it to the wicketkeeper. From here on, Indian bowling was right on the money as the hosts kept on losing timely wickets.
