Crystal Palace pre-season tour to start this week as Zaha, Olise ... (Football.London)

The Eagles are set to face Liverpool in Singapore before heading down to Australia for friendly matches against Manchester United and Leeds.

Those not heading to Singapore and Australia will be working together at the club's training ground in south London under assistant manager Osian Roberts. There has also been another friendly added this Saturday (July 16) against Ipswich Town, with a fixture against Montpellier at Selhurst Park on July 30 finishing pre-season, at which point those on the overseas tour will have returned to the UK. Singapore are operating a strict policy for those coming into the country, with all entrants having to prove they are full vaccinated from Covid-19. This is at odds with Australia, who recently relaxed its entry requirements for new arrivals. Eberechi Eze opened the scoring inside three minutes, only for Benik Afobe to level with a quick response.

Summer signings Sam Johnstone and Cheick Doucoure have also not been included meaning that only 10 senior players will be available to Patrick Vieira.

If the lack of vaccinations is the reason for the mass absentees, then Palace have become the second club to have been affected by the matter. With so many key players missing, additional friendlies have been scheduled to give the absentees missing some minutes, with games set be played against QPR, Ipswich and a yet to be determined opponent. Crystal Palace will be without many of their star players for their pre-season tour of Singapore and Australia.

So his wage bill is quite high, and he's continually reinvesting the money he earns back into himself, back into the team and not many other players do that.’ Really intense, really hard, lots of practice and that set him up for the year. 'He actually got really good in the gym and really strong at the end of 2019 into 2020,’ he says. All the gyms shut in England, so we lost all those gains really and we had to start from scratch again.' That just allowed him to get a really good pre-season of gym load. He was back in the gym last week at the Scottish Open, after about 10 or 12 days off after the US Open and back in the gym this week, did a session Monday morning, Tuesday and Wednesday.' ‘It’s a good time to keep overloading the body,’ Roberts explains. He says: ‘He bought into it and I'm not with him like all the time. Whereas a golfer it's very hard for them to get kind of the right structure around the game, the training, all that kind of stuff. Speaking exclusively to Sportsmail ahead of the Open, Roberts says: 'If he continues with the work ethic he's got and continues along the path he's set himself, there is no limit really. We go to a lab in Manchester. That helps measure his force and swing speed and joint sequencing. ‘Speed training and the Stack System helped him convert all the hard work he's doing in the gym.
