Mohamed Salah: Why new Liverpool deal goes beyond football (BBC News)

The "Egyptian King" has won as many, if not more, plaudits for his persona and conduct off the pitch.

But generally speaking, people were positive about Salah on and off the field." It's subtle and real." it wants to be more outward-looking". Mr Atkinson says Salah's contract extension enables the striker to thrive in "that reflected glory of being Muslim, Arab, Egyptian, all the different parts of his identity - it makes everything brilliant for himself and Liverpool". In one of many academic studies of what's now known as the "Salah effect", a number of Brits shared their views about how he had "opened people up to thinking about Islam in a different way". Najib Al-Hakimi, who works as a co-ordinator at the Liverpool Arabic Centre said he was "thrilled" by the song, "because people were looking at Muslims as if they were ignorant and terrorists".

Liverpool and Mohamed Salah have reached perfect compromise ... (Liverpool.com)

Both sides were inevitably going to have to cede ground in order for Mohamed Salah to agree a new Liverpool contract. The eventual FSG compromise is neat.

That’s the hallmark of a perfect compromise: something which Liverpool and Salah have now found. But this will have been factored into Liverpool calculations: it all feeds into the price worth paying for keeping one of the best players in the world. Then there is the length of the deal, which seems perfectly-suited to both parties. It is very hard to replace one of the best players in the world. The figure may in practice not be that high, with Salah having compromised on his end by agreeing to a significant number of performance-related stipulations. Even so, it is likely that by raising their wage ceiling, FSG will now have to accept at least a small premium on future negotiations, even if nobody will be demanding parity with Salah any time soon.

Liverpool News: Mohamed Salah Snubs Suitors, Re-Signs With Reds (Sportscasting)

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah seemed destined to move to Real Madrid this summer but instead signed a long-term deal to stay at Anfield.

With Mané out and Firmino likely on the move, Salah will have to find new chemistry with Liverpool’s stable of young forwards next season. The latest rumors involve a move to Juventus in Italy. However, the 30-year-old surprised many on the first day of July when Liverpool announced he’d signed a three-year deal to stay at Anfield. After a heartbreaking 1-0 loss in the 2022 Champions League Final to Real Madrid, questions surrounded Liverpool’s squad. In 254 appearances with the Reds, Salah has 156 goals and 63 assists. Liverpool supporters can breathe a sigh of relief now that they know they will never have to walk without Mo Salah, at least for the next three seasons.

Why Liverpool made Mohamed Salah their highest-paid player in ... (The Athletic)

Liverpool have made Mohamed Salah the highest paid player in the club's history at the age of 30, yet the deal is not without its risks.

It is thought a summer of rest will have done him the power of good. That is roughly what they got – although there were concessions from both sides because some of his £350k a week is incentivised around performance and achievement. That is why Luis Diaz was bought in January as his replacement. Each party will need to ensure his output during this process justifies the investment. He had not been guided by any of his coaches in this pursuit. It cannot be overestimated how unusual this was, because the passion for football is on a religious level in Egypt, where players are paid well enough to make it easier for them to stay at home when offers come from abroad. After training every day, he would go to the exercise hall unaccompanied and lift weights for a minimum of half an hour. Last month made it a decade since Salah’s departure from Egyptian club football. “Mo realised he had to become a machine,” Fathi concluded. He was able to think alone and this meant he looked after himself. Later, he enrolled at a private gymnasium where he told an instructor that he needed to improve his stamina and acceleration, even though he’d already dazzled in his early professional career as an extremely fast footballer. Salah, however, took conditioning incredibly seriously – “more seriously than any Egyptian footballer I’ve ever met”.
