Elypta has raised $21m in a Series A financing round for the development of a metabolism-based multi-cancer early detection test.
Founded in 2017, Elypta raised €6m in a late seed funding round in 2020 for the development of lab kits and software to measure and analyse a panel of metabolites biomarkers. Elypta intends to use the funds for the development and validation of blood and urine tests for MCED in asymptomatic adult patients as well as kidney cancer recurrence diagnoses. Swedish diagnostics firm Elypta has raised $21m in a Series A financing round for the development of a metabolism-based multi-cancer early detection (MCED) test.
England Women's coach says nations able to stage red-ball games can "challenge" his views by playing more.
It's just a matter of how you could put it in a domestic structure and what that might look like." But I don't see it being any part of the landscape moving forward to any real extent at all." None of the last five women's Tests have produced a result, further fuelling the argument that they should be played over five days. "Realistically I don't think every country can play this format, I get that, but I do think we should stretch and challenge and have the desire to improve women's cricket and to grow it. "They don't really exist in any of the countries at the moment. "We can challenge and say, 'we actually feel like we want to lead the way'. The way to do that is play more Test matches.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive disease of the nervous system. It affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord called motor ...
This is important for ALS, because axonal degeneration causes the lower motor neuron problems that can be a symptom of ALS. Researchers hypothesized that TDP-43 accumulation in muscular nerve bundles could be an early predictor of ALS. We aim to prevent the progression of ALS and will continue research into developing new medication." These 33 patients with axonal TDP-43 accumulations were all later diagnosed with ALS. Among the 43 patients without nerve bundles, three were later diagnosed with ALS. All 10 ALS patients had TDP-43 accumulations in their intramuscular nerve bundles, while 12 non-ALS controls had no TDP-43 accumulation. It is difficult to diagnose ALS in its early stages because there is not a known biomarker. ALS is difficult to diagnose because, currently, there is no single test that can confirm the disease.

As North Korea prepares a possible nuclear test, it has appointed seasoned negotiator Choe Son Hui to deflect international criticism, make demands.
Choe has extensive experience dealing with the U.S. She served as the interpreter for a North Korean delegation in four-party nuclear talks in 1997, joining the six-party talks in the early 2000s. North Korea has been getting ready to conduct a nuclear test for several months, as suggested by satellite images of its only nuclear site in Punggye-ri, which the regime closed in 2018. Gause noted Choe can send an “articulate and very forceful” message to the international community that North Korea is a sovereign country with the right to test and possess nuclear weapons to defend itself. With her appointment, North Korea is “laying the groundwork for being able to deal with the blowback from North Korean actions probably coming in the future” after it conducts a nuclear test, said Ken Gause, director of the Adversary Analytics Program at CNA, a think tank. Choe was formerly the director of the North America department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on the U.S. She participated at North Korea’s two summits with the U.S. in 2018 and 2019 and was a vice-foreign minister before being promoted to head the foreign ministry. As North Korea gears up in ways that satellite images suggest are preparations for a nuclear test, experts said Pyongyang is also getting ready to deal with the aftermath of such a test – to blunt global condemnation likely to follow and defend its nuclear position while pressuring the U.S. to make concessions.
