In 2008, the ICJ ruled that Pedra Branca belonged to Singapore, while sovereignty over nearby Middle Rocks was awarded to Malaysia. The ICJ had in 2002 ruled that Sipadan and Ligitan belonged to Malaysia and not Indonesia.
