“This should lead to better business and work prospects so that in the longer term, it leads to higher productivity and better wages.” Civil servants in grades equivalent to MX13(I) and MX14 will receive an additional one-time payment of $200. Those in grades equivalent to MX15 and MX16, and those in the Operations Support Scheme Grades III to V, will get a higher one-time payment of $400. Nonetheless, it will be higher than the 0.3-month bonus given to civil servants last year.

All Singapore civil servants will get a bigger mid-year bonus in 2022, while some will also get an additional one-time payment.

This is due to economic uncertainties caused partly by the Russia-Ukraine conflict. At the end of 2021, civil servants were given a 1-month bonus, so perhaps they can look forward to more at the end of this year. Of course, this will put a bigger smile on the faces of those who will already be getting a pay rise on 1 Aug. This year’s 0.35-month mid-year bonus for civil servants is a tad higher than the 0.3-month mid-year bonus they got in 2021. While the bonus applies to all civil servants, some of them will also receive a one-time payment on top of that. In a press release on Monday (20 Jun), the Public Service Division (PSD) said all civil servants will get a mid-year Annual Variable Component (AVC) in 2022.
