IIT Guwahati improves rank in QS World University rankings (Hindustan Times)

QS Rankings: While IIT Guwahati has improved its global rank, it has dropped to 8th place in India from last year's 7th position.

“QS World University Rankings 2023 released on 8th June 2022 indicates that since 2014, IIT Guwahati has moved up at least 217 places from 601-650 range in 2014 to 384th in 2023. IIT Hyderabad jumps 10 points in QS World University Ranking-2023 (Telangana Today)

Sangareddy: For the second consecutive year, the Indian Institute of Technology- Hyderabad (IITH) has maintained its position within the Top 10 ranks.

JNU, Jamia and DU fall in QS World University Rankings 2023 (Scroll.in)

The Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi, however, rose 11 places to reach the 174th rank.

This year’s ranking of Jamia Millia Islamia dropped to the 801-1000 bracket from 751-800 recorded a year ago. Its academic reputation score dropped to 28.2 from 28.8 recorded in 2022. The academic reputation parameter carried 40% weightage in the overall score and looked into the teaching and research quality of the universities. Meanwhile, the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi’s academic reputation climbed to 49 from 45.8 a year ago. The rankings were released on Wednesday by Quacquarelli Symonds, a United Kingdom-based higher education analyst company. In the 2023 rankings, Jawaharlal Nehru University fell to the 601-650 bracket from 561-570 a year ago.

Panjab University Teachers Association (PUTA) president Mritunjay Kumar said there was a need for serious introspection on what went wrong and corrective measures needed to be taken. According to the QS rankings, Panjab University’s score in academic reputation increased to 5.5 from last year’s 5.2, but it was still behind Chandigarh University (CU) in Mohali that scored 8.6 and Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences that scored 6.5. On the other hand, Chandigarh University (CU) in Mohali district and Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences in Solan improved their performance to find a place in the 801-1,000 bracket. With further decline in its ranking, Panjab University (PU) has once again failed to feature in the top 1,000 universities of the world in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, 2023, while performing far better, two private universities of the region have entered the 801-1,000 bracket.
