MacBook Air features a new, strikingly thin design in four finishes, 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, 1080p HD camera, MagSafe charging, and more.
- The all-new MacBook Air and updated 13-inch MacBook Pro will be available onapple.com/storeand in the Apple Store app. Performance tests are conducted using specific computer systems and reflect the approximate performance of MacBook Pro. Both the new MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro minimize their impact on the environment, now using 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in the enclosure magnets. The new MacBook Air features a gorgeous 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, which has been expanded closer to the sides and up around the camera to make room for the menu bar. The new MacBook Air and updated 13-inch MacBook Pro join the even more powerful 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M1 Pro and M1 Max to round out the strongest lineup of Mac notebooks ever offered. With the power efficiency of M2, all of the capabilities of MacBook Air are built into a silent, fanless design. M2 also comes to the 13-inch MacBook Pro, featuring incredible performance, ProRes acceleration, up to 24GB of memory, and up to 20 hours of battery life — making our most portable pro notebook even better.” Now with M2, Apple’s most portable pro notebook gets even more capabilities in the same great form factor. Designed to dramatically speed up video workflows, M2 also adds a next-generation media engine and a powerful ProRes video engine for hardware-accelerated encode and decode, so systems with M2 will be able to play back more streams of 4K and 8K video than before. Additionally, the Magic Keyboard features a full-height function row with Touch ID, and a spacious, industry-leading Force Touch trackpad. “We’re so excited to bring our new M2 chip to the world’s two most popular laptops — the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Completely redesigned around M2, MacBook Air is thinner, lighter, and faster with a bigger display, better camera, and all-day battery life, in four beautiful finishes. M2also comes to the 13-inch MacBook Pro, the world’s second best-selling laptop — delivering incredible performance, up to 24GB of unified memory, ProRes acceleration, and up to 20 hours of battery life,2 all in a compact design.
Apple announced the 2022 MacBook Air at WWDC. This 13.6-inch laptop supports Apple's M2 processor, and it will launch in July 2022 for $1199.
The starting MacBook Air model will ship with a 30W charger, but Apple is offering a new $59 67W power adapter that allows it to quickly charge to 80-percent in just 20 minutes. But if you upgrade this model to macOS Ventura, you’ll be able to take advantage of the Continuity Camera feature that lets you use your MagSafe-ready iPhone’s camera as a webcam. If you want more power, storage, and RAM, the $1,499 model has a 10-core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. The 2022 MacBook Air features a larger 2560x1664 13.6-inch display with smaller bezels surrounding it. The starting model includes the M2, an eight-core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. It will be available in silver, space grey, and new “starlight” gold and “midnight” blue colors.
The new lightweight laptop arrives in July and adds a 1080p webcam and the M2 chip.
That also means the new MacBook Air can take advantage of an upgraded 1080p webcam for better quality during video calls, whereas the new MacBook Pro is stuck with the same old 720p camera. Quite bizarrely, the new (and cheaper) MacBook Air is the fancier of the two new laptops. For comparison, the Pro is 3 pounds and 0.61 inches thick.
The MacBook Air is the best-selling Apple laptop, and the new design will likely boost Mac sales in the coming quarters.
At its heart is Apple's newest M2 chip, which was announced Monday and will be faster and more power-efficient than Apple's previous chip. In recent years, the Mac product line has been growing strongly — shipments grew about 28% in 2021 versus just under 15% for the entire market, according to a Canalys estimate. - The new MacBook Air is more expensive than before, starting at $1,199 versus $999 for last year's model, which remains available.
Apple surprised WWDC keynote watchers with the release of a new, fully redesigned MacBook Air. The MacBook Air, Apple's most popular notebook computer, ...

MacBook Air (M2, 2022) is real, with Apple announcing at its WWDC 2022 event that the follow-up to the best laptop in the world is coming soon.
From our time with the M2-powered 2022 MacBook Air, we could see an immediate improvement in the vibrancy of the screen in the new model. We had a quick play in Final Cut Pro, editing a movie with multiple 4K sources, and it performed brilliantly -- and was completely silent thanks to its lack of fans. The M2 chip brings a lot more to the table. Outside of the different shades available, the laptop features MagSafe charging as well as two Thunderbolt ports and a headphone jack. One of the most radical design overhauls we’ve seen Apple make to an iconic product has reinvigorated the new MacBook Air, and it looks far more modern and elegant. Less welcome will be the news that the combination of bigger webcam and thinner bezels means there’s a visible ‘notch’ that surrounds the webcam and drops down into the menu bar.
The speed tests and all that fun stuff are going to have to wait until we get to bring one of these bad boys home. In the meantime, it's just kind of nice ...

The M2 MacBook Air and M2 13-inch MacBook Pro cannot be purchased at this time, but the product listings are live. With the chances of Apple revealing its mixed reality headset at WWDC 2022 looking decidedly less likely as its developer conference creeps nearer, rumors of Apple's new-look MacBook Air have once again come to the fore. Those features bring an increased price tag, with Apple selling the updated M2 MacBook Air at $1199 for the low-end version. Apple today introduced the 2022 MacBook Air, which features a redesign and an updated chip. The M1 MacBook Air is Apple's cheapest notebook, and it has not been updated in any way. There have been no price cuts for the M1 MacBook Air, and the lineup starts at $999.
The refreshed MacBook Air has a new 13.6-inch display, a 1080p webcam and a completely fanless body. The cheaper M1 Air stays in the lineup, too.
A $1,499 version has an M2 chip with an eight-core CPU and 10-core GPU, 8GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. The M1 MacBook Air stays in the lineup as well for $999 (£999, AU$1,499). Apple said with the new M2 chip, Final Cut Pro performance is nearly 40% faster than on the M1 Air and Photoshop is up to 20% faster. The Magic keyboard has a full row of function keys with Touch ID as well as a large Force Touch trackpad. Above the display is an updated 1080p camera joined by a three-mic array and a four-speaker sound system. The new fanless body is available in four colors: silver, space gray, starlight and midnight. Like those, it has a chunkier, squared-off look that's almost retro-feeling instead of the gently curved lids tapering to a point that previously gave the Air more of a wedge shape.
Apple has given the MacBook Air its first major refresh after it transitioned to Apple Silicon. Here's how the new M2 version measures against the 2020 M1 ...
Apple offered the 7-core GPU M1 MacBook Air with SSD options starting from 256GB and rising to 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB at most. The M2 MacBook Air has a larger 52.6-watt-hour lithium polymer battery. The M1 MacBook Pro has stereo speakers, which offer wide stereo sound. However, with the inclusion of MagSafe 3 charging, users can recharge their MacBook Air without sacrificing one of those two ports. The report claims the Geekbench 5 Single-Core test scores 1,869 on the M2 chip, up from the 1,706 of the M1 MacBook Air in Geekbench's browser. However, the shift to a 1080p webcam in the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models probably made those affected by pandemic work-from-home initiatives yearn for more resolution. Sticking with LED, the 2022 MacBook Air has a slightly larger 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display. The M1 MacBook Air has a footprint of 11.97 inches by 8.36 inches. The 2020 MacBook Air is best known for being a slim and light notebook while also giving users the essentials of Mac usability. However, this is based on pre-release chips, which may not reflect scores when the M2 MacBook Air ships. The M1 MacBook Air looked like the Intel model it replaced, albeit with new internal components. MacBook Air (2020, M1)
Announced via WWDC22 in Cupertino, California, the next-generation MacBook Air will be powered by the all-new M2 chip.
The smaller bezel and larger screen gives you more room to enjoy Apple’s display in all its glory, especially since it’s now 25 percent brighter than before. This year, every klutz can once again rejoice as the MagSafe will be resurrected on the new MacBook Air, which will no doubt protect millions of laptops around the world from death by cable. The new MacBook Air was redesigned to be as slim as possible from every angle, measuring at only 11.3mm thin and weighing only 1.2kg despite its solid all-aluminium body. That efficiency also allowed Apple the freedom to do away with a fan within, resulting in a lightweight and most importantly, silent laptop that won’t whir incessantly when you’re trying to think. Those using Final Cut Pro will also find that performance is almost 40 percent faster than the previous generation’s, and up to 15 times faster for those who still haven’t converted to Apple’s silicon chip. In layman’s terms, the laptop can now handle larger and more complex workloads with ease, such as hardcore video editing.

The new MacBook Air delivers a powerful new M2 chip, better display and sharper webcam in a sleeker design, but it's pricey.
So who would get the $1,299 / AU$1,999 13-inch MacBook Pro? Anyone who wants even more power (thanks to its active cooling system) and 10-core GPU standard. The design is delightfully portable, and the display is simply awesome in person. Watching the MacBook Air M2 process seven simultaneous streams in Final Cut Pro, I once again felt like this system has the feel of a MacBook Pro in terms of power. The starting configuration comes with a 30W USB-power adapter, but the 35W power dual USB-port adapter costs $20 /AU$30 extra (it's included with the $1,499 model). And the 67W USB-C charger, which supports fast charging of 50% in 30 minutes, costs $20 /AU$30 more than the standard charger. Based on our initial impressions, the new MacBook Air 2022 could be one of the best laptops of the year. The new MacBook Air has the most Pro-level display yet, and that's thanks to an increased brightness of 500 nits. The highlight here is Stage Manager, a new way of multitasking that puts the app you're working on front and center while also making it easy to switch between other open apps. The first thing I noticed about the new MacBook Air 2022 is how small and light it feels. Neither of those numbers vary from what Apple promises with the M1 MacBook Air, though. The Midnight MacBook Air has personality without being too loud. During a demo I was very impressed with the volume and clarity. The $1,499 / AU$2,349 model steps that up to a 10-core GPU for more graphics muscle and 512GB SSD.

The MacBook Air 2022 also offers two USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports as well as a new MagSafe port for charging. On the inside of the machine, there’s a new M2 chip that Apple says is up to 40% faster for intensive workloads. Shortly after Apple’s WWDC keynote yesterday, the first hands-on images of the MacBook Air 2022 started to hit the web.
Excuse the cliché, but the MacBook Air feels grown-up. I'm thinking it's the shape—gone is the iconic slanting edge, replaced in favor of stout straight ...
Overall, the new MacBook Air is a nice upgrade over the previous model. More importantly, it makes me question why anyone would buy the $1,299 MacBook Pro—and why Apple continues to sell it. New this year is a dual-port 35W USB-C power adapter that lets you charge the laptop and a second device simultaneously. Standard is a 30W charger that comes with the base model. The company claims the MacBook Air will last for 18 hours on a charge during video playback or 15 hours of continuous web browsing. For the more technical bits, the M2 processor is based on the same 5-nanometer technology as the M1 but everything is elevated. While I couldn’t run any benchmarks, Apple ran me through a few impressive demos that flaunted the performance of the MacBook Air’s M2 chip. The “Liquid Retina” panel is brighter—by 25% for up to 500 nits, Apple claims—and the colors are accurate and punchy. Sure, but at least the braided MagSafe cables look durable and can be color-matched to the laptop. The blame belongs to me for believing early MacBook Air rumors that suggested we’d get the same vivid rainbow hues as the iMac. Apple isn’t ready to ready to have fun with its laptop yet, and I’m tired of waiting. Now the Air looks like the MacBook Pro, and with its larger 13.6-inch screen, more like the premium Pro than its smaller but M2-touting counterpart. I always felt the wedge shape made the MacBook Air look thinner than it really was.
Apple announced new M2-equipped MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros at its 2022 WWDC keynote presentation.
Although small usability upgrades like that will factor into our recommendations for most people, the new processor will be a major factor when we consider the new MacBook Air in a future update to our guide to the best video and photo editing laptops, which are meant for more specialized uses. Starting at $100 more than the new MacBook Air, the 13-inch MacBook Pro has the same M2 processor but adds a cooling fan inside, which Apple says will keep the processor cool when it’s under heavy loads for long periods of time. All the new laptops will ship in July, and as soon as we’ve had time to thoroughly test the new models, we’ll be updating our recommendations. If the M2 MacBook Air improves on the experience of the M1 version, that will make the newly announced M2 13-inch MacBook Pro a strange in-between to consider. To fit that larger screen into a similarly sized laptop, Apple has added a camera notch at the top, similar to that of the iPhone and the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. Nestled within that notch is a 1080p webcam, the same camera as in the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros, and a nicer camera than the 720p version found in the new 13-inch MacBook Pro, a crucial benefit in the videoconference age.
This time the recipient of a makeover is none other than the MacBook Air. As you would expect from the tech giant, Apple hasn't disappointed.

This is the new MacBook Air that a lot of people have been waiting for. The M2 MacBook Air will be available in July 2022, starting at $1,199. The new MacBook Air with M2 is here! Here is the brand new 2022 MacBook Air (M2) announced at WWDC. My fav colourway is the midnight option but it also comes in 3 others. Apple just announced a fully redesigned MacBook Air with an M2 processor. It also now comes packed with a larger display, MagSafe charging, full-size function keys, and an upgraded FaceTime camera.
How sexy can a laptop get? Apple seems hell bent on finding out with the MacBook Air, this time completely redesigned around the firm's brand new M2 chip.

Unlike the M1 MacBook Air, which was about providing a comforting shell around the then-new concept of a Mac running an Apple-designed processor, the new Air ...
On Monday, Apple claimed that the MacBook Air is the most popular laptop model in the world. If you’re planning on doing that a lot, the 14-inch MacBook Pro might be a better buy. But if the characteristics of the M1 are any indication, that would only ever happen if you maxed out the GPU for a very long time, perhaps while playing a game or performing a very complicated render. So, there was another laptop announced on Monday: the 13-inch MacBook Pro. To call this a new laptop would not be right. What do you get if you buy a 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro instead of an M2 MacBook Air? A bigger, heavier computer (with a smaller screen!) that must be charged via one of its two USB-C ports. This is in contrast to last year’s MacBook Pro, which shipped with a Silver cable, even if your laptop was of the Space Gray variety. Ever since the M1 iMac launched with six bright color options (plus silver), rumors abounded that the next MacBook Air would join the party and embrace color. And Apple has chosen not to provide it with enough I/O power to drive a second external display. I lament the loss of more fun colors for these laptops, but I have to admit that Midnight looks great to me. (There’s no “MacBook Air” inscription on the bottom, though.) The edges of the laptop are flat, reflecting Apple’s current hardware aesthetic. And perhaps most importantly, the MagSafe charging is back on the Air! It’s also quite thin, though instead of the classic wedge design, Apple has kept it a consistent 0.44 inches (1.13cm) thick—thicker than the thin end of the wedge but thinner than the thick edge.
Apple's MacBook Air, powered by the new M2 chipset sports a new design and higher price tag. We take a look at how it differs compared to the older MacBook ...
The MacBook Air M2 is geared for those who need some more power in a slimmer form factor. The MacBook Air M2 has a slightly larger 52.6-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery compared to the 49.9-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery. In contrast, the MacBook Air M1 has speakers on either side of the keyboard. The M1 is limited to 16GB max RAM, while on M2 it can go up to 24GB. The M2 now comes with a 1080p FaceTime HD camera and also has an advanced image signal processor with computational video to ensure better video quality. The new variant is also thinner at 1.13 cm thickness compared to the M1 which was nearly 1.61 cm in thickness at its maximum. If you look at the dimensions, both are very similar, though the M2 MacBook Air is slightly lighter at 1.24 kg compared to the 1.29 kg weight of the M1 version. Apple claims the M2 is more power-efficient compared to the previous gen, despite being a more powerful chipset. The MacBook Air M2 is starting at a price of Rs 1,19,900 for the base 8GB RAM+256GB SSD version. The MacBook Air’s biggest change is the new M2 chipset from Apple. According to Apple, M2 is built using the second-generation 5-nanometer technology, and it can now support 24GB of RAM. The M1 was limited to 16GB of maximum RAM support. But Apple will continue selling the older M1 MacBook Air as well. This is for the 256GB SSD version which has an 8-core CPU and 7-core GPU. If you buy the 512GB SSD version, the price goes up to Rs 1,19,900.
