The trailer for the first installment of Pokémon's ninth generation showed near characters, Pokémon and the lovable Lechonk.

His official description states he charge forward in a panic if he's attacked and startled, and it "may appear fat at first glance, but in reality, the Pokémon’s body is mostly muscle built by constantly walking around in search of food." Old Pokémon like Pikachu and Gengar were featured in the trailer, but some newer once were also unveiled. Along with series staples, such as trading and battling Pokémon, players will be able to explore the various locations of the region in these games with up to four players," the company said in a release.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet reveals its new professors, Turo and Sada (Polygon)

The Pokémon Company revealed a new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet on Wednesday. The new footage debuted new Pokémon like Lechonk and the next set of legendaries from the new region. I wouldn’t be the one to dress up in what appears to be pelts, but maybe her personality makes it work. Professor Sada will be the second option. It’s odd, but at least his haircut looks OK! He’s got a sort of gruff look going for him. Alternatively, “pasada” means past and could connect to Sada’s name and design since she sports a cavewoman-like look. In Spanish, “futuro” means future, which Turo’s name and his futuristic design derive from.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet coming to Nintendo Switch in November (Polygon)

The Pokémon Company announced that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be released in November. The company debuted a new trailer for the next game in the ...

The Pokémon Company showed off nearly three minutes of gameplay, specifically with lots of Pokémon trainers running through open areas with a few new, cute Pokémon, including the legendary creatures, Koraidon and Miraidon. In these open areas — the first real open-world RPG for Pokémon — players will be able to head out into different areas with up to four players as part of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s multiplayer compatibility. The ninth-generation Pokémon game is expected to be in an open-world format, something a bit different from both Pokémon Sword and Shield and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The Pokémon Company said there are “no borders” between wilderness and towns, with Pokémon appearing everywhere — “in the skies, in the sea, and on the streets.” Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were announced in February during a Pokémon Presents broadcast for Pokémon Day. During that presentation, The Pokémon Company revealed the series’ next three starters: Sprigatito, a “capricious, attention-seeking Grass Cat Pokémon;” Fuecoco, a “laid-back Fire Croc Pokémon that does things at its own pace;” and Quaxly, an “earnest and tidy Duckling Pokémon.”

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Releasing November 18th, Plus New ... (RPGFan)

As a huge Pokémon fan, this latest trailer only has me more excited for the release of Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet later this year, on November 18th! Also, If you happened to have missed the initial reveal of Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet earlier this year, make sure to give our coverage of the announcement a read. Alongside the usual trading and battling, players will be able to explore some parts of Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet‘s open world with up to three other players. Picking your partner Pokémon is often one of the most agonizingly hard choices in a Pokémon game. The coif on its head is slicked back using a rich, moist cream, and it becomes unkempt when dry. Lechonk uses its sense of smell to find and eat only the most fragrant wild grasses and the richest Berries. As a result of its dining habits, it has come to radiate an aroma resembling herbs that Bug-type Pokémon dislike. The Pokémon Company, alongside Nintendo, have announced that Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet will release on the Nintendo Switch, November 18th. The games also introduce newly discovered Pokémon and a fresh cast of characters. It generates electricity by rubbing its cheeks, then it shocks its opponents by touching them with the pads on its forepaws. Nemona has a sunny, energetic disposition and is passionate about Pokémon battles. In the second Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet trailer, published on YouTube via The Pokémon Company, players are given a plethora of information about the titles. For the first time, one of two different professors will appear in the game depending on which version players choose.

Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Seems To Offer Better Character ... (Kotaku)

Game Freak imagines an open world where not every trainer has the exact-same hair.

You have the Victorian school uniforms on the standard Pokémon white kids, then the whiter-than-white faces of the newly revealed Professors, and then, amusingly enough, the very pale-faced set of starter Pokémon. After that there’s one more white trainer, pleasingly extolling the virtues of science, before...what’s this? And somewhere in the middle, “Braids.” You know, there’s side parting, the “medium and wavy,” a bowl cut, long hair... For the first time in the franchise, it looks like character customization might have begun to acknowledge a neglected section of its fanbase. The exact same narrow range appeared in New Pokémon Snap, also out last year. Even the most recent entry, Pokémon Arceus, only offered three shades of person, translucent white (hello), slightly tanned, and a lighter brown.

It looks as though the games will be pretty much the same in most other ways, although the idea of time travel and the possibility that the two games will somehow be set in a past and future version of PokéSpain are not totally out of the question. It's a cool dichotomy to explore, and it's surprising that Pokémon — the series that loves dichotomies more than any other — hasn't really explored it before! The new professors, Sada and Turo, are dressed in quite obvious references to the past and future.

Some Pokémon Fans Think Scarlet And Violet's Hot Professors Are ... (Kotaku)

Professor Sada and Professor Turo, how could you?!

In Violet, though, Turo would be the professor and Sada the villain. The theory postulates that Sada would be the professor character in Scarlet, Turo the villain. It’s often pretty serious-sounding stuff, but the games put such a focus on capturing and training Pokémon that you often forget there’s world-ending stakes going on in the margins. As one writer pointed out on Twitter, “pasada” is Spanish for “past” and “futuro” means “future. (Though the name for Scarlet and Violet’s setting has yet to be revealed, it’s nakedly inspired by geography and architecture from the Iberian Peninsula.) A past-vs.-future theme is also in line with the two most recent Pokémon games: last November’s Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and this January’s Legends: Arceus, a spin-off set in the distant past in the same region as BDSP. And the two legendary Pokémon, Koraidon and Miraidon, sure seem like past-vs.-future alternatives of each other. Their distinctive fashion has spurred observers to believe Scarlet and Violet are set in divergent timelines, one in the past, one in the future. In the mainline Pokémon games, there’s always a professor, and they’re always a mentor.

Sada appears to be wearing attire from thousands of years ago, while Turo looks like he walked out of a time machine - or fell from a space-time distortion - from the distant future. But as Fanbyte (opens in new tab) brought to our attention, the internet is straight up ravenous, the likes of which we haven't seen since the whole Resident Evil Village Lady Dimitrescu craze.
