Speaking with Collider at Star Wars Celebration, Ewan McGregor said that he rewatched the prequel movies in preparation to return as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
With the first two episodes streaming now, fans of the two of them will not have to wait long before seeing them grace their screens as the iconic duo once more — though, granted, on opposite sides of the conflict this time. Naturally, the man of the hour himself, Ewan McGregor was also there, greeted at every opportunity by enthusiastic cheers from fans. I love Hayden and it was so nice to work with him when he was fresh, like an 18, 19-year-old actor.

McGregor continued: "The sequels were easier to watch because they were a fantasy again for me. "I continued to love the 'Star Wars' universe and as the sequels were being made, I was happy," the actor said. The prequel trilogy received mixed reviews from critics at the time but has since received a lot of support from fans who grew up with the movies.
Complex spoke with McGregor about what he loved about director Deborah Chow's vision for the story, where the character is during these days, and more.
So for the actor, it makes a big difference for us cause it makes us feel like we’re in the environment that we are trying to portray. We can build the worlds that we can actually stand in and feel their presence, and we can shoot against them. You see the crew rise to do their best work for her, and that’s a great sign of a great director. We can’t build some of the worlds that we see in Star Wars. It would be impossible because it’s a different galaxy. This is a very different time, and I think it’s quite a dark period of time. It’s a different side of the character and one McGregor seemed excited to dig into when he sat down for a junket interview with Complex recently.

“I think it was pretty special,” she says. “It felt good, I have to say. As McGregor himself put it during our recent chat, “It feels different, but it’s still absolutely Star Wars.”
The Obi-Wan Kenobi stars sat down with EW at Star Wars Celebration to talk about their reunion — and how their appreciation for the prequels has shifted.
"The atmosphere on set was really electric that day," McGregor recalls. "Just seeing him again as Obi-Wan was such a thrilling sight," Christensen says. The two men say they drifted apart in the years since wrapping the films, but when they met again to start preparing for Obi-Wan Kenobi, it felt like no time had passed. After working on Obi-Wan Kenobi and refamiliarizing himself with the Star Wars fandom, though, he's found himself rethinking that view. "I feel like there was a sort of challenge to making the films. They're meant to bring joy and happiness to people, so it means a lot to get to witness that now to the degree that we do.

And there is a story that he told me — during this fight in the rain where he had to do a jump, a flip over the top of you [indicating Morrison], like an aerial move over the top, and I don't do that kind of thing. McGregor joined a panel for the 20th anniversary of the film at "Star Wars" Celebration with co-star Temuera Morrison, who played Jango Fett (and who played Boba Fett in the Disney+ series "The Mandalorian" and "The Book of Boba Fett," who also plays a role in " Obi-Wan Kenobi"). The same Joel Edgerton who played (and is playing) Uncle Owen! McGregor said of Nash Edgerton, who is a filmmaker, actor, and director now:
