Mavericks' potential comeback vs. Warriors oddly compared to alien ... (NBC Sports Bay Area)

Kevin Wildes of "First Things First" had an interesting comparison for the Mavericks' comeback hopes in the Western Conference finals.

The odd comparison from Wildes came in response to Wright, who laid out his argument for the Mavericks' potential comeback story just seconds before. It’s not an 11 at the blackjack table like Nick is saying,” Wildes said. But if I walked down the stairs and there was an alien eating an egg, a waffle at my table, I would be shocked -- but at the same time, I’d be like, ‘You know what, I’ve heard rumblings.’

Luka Doncic Believes Mavericks Still Have A Chance Against Warriors (Sports Illustrated)

After winning Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals on Tuesday night, the Dallas Mavericks now find themselves down 3-1 to the Golden State Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors are a championship-level team, but they have had flaws of their own in past postseasons. Should they be able to win Game 5 against the Warriors, this series will suddenly be 3-2 in favor of Golden State with Game 6 to be played in Dallas, a prime opportunity for the Mavs to potentially even up this series and force a deceive Game 7. We have to go game by game. We're going to believe until the end.” And 3-1 has been done.” “Well, somebody’s got to do it.

Game 5 Injury Report: Warriors vs. Mavericks (Sports Illustrated)

The Golden State Warriors are on the verge of another trip to the NBA Finals, and they have a chance to close out the Western Conference Finals at home.

Porter is being listed as questionable with a left foot injury, as the veteran forward attempts to manage both his current injury and also his potential availability for the NBA Finals if the Warriors should indeed advance. For Game 5, the Dallas Mavericks will once again have just the single absence of Tim Hardaway Jr., as the rest of their injury report remains clean. The Dallas Mavericks will not go away, but the Warriors have been simply dominant on their home floor all postseason long.

Mavericks vs. Warriors - Game Preview - May 26, 2022 - ESPN (ESPN)

Get a preview of the Dallas Mavericks vs. Golden State Warriors basketball game.

With a win Thursday, the Mavs would be the 12th team to force a Game 6 and only three teams have gotten to a Game 7 before losing. It's been a up-and-down series for Dallas' Reggie Bullock and getting the best version of him will be key if the Mavericks want to stay alive. Bullock responded in Game 4 by making 6 of 10 3-pointers and scoring 18 points. Luka Doncic has led the way with 98 points and 35 rebounds in the three wins but says the key has been aggressiveness on offense and more commitment to defense. Kuminga hadn't played at all the previous two games before scoring 17 points in just under 22 minutes in Game 4. For the third straight series, the Warriors lost their first chance to advance while playing on the road.

When play finally did resume, the Mavericks picked up right where they left off and built a 29-point lead with some incredible 3-point shooting. Don't be surprised if the Warriors get caught playing with their food again and Doncic finds a way to pick up one win in this series. The Mavericks will host the Warriors for Game 4, looking to keep their season alive in a win-or-go-home scenario. In Game 3, Doncic eclipsed the 40-point mark for the second contest in a row. Meanwhile, the Warriors are so close to their sixth Finals appearance in eight years that it will be hard to keep a championship-hungry team away from returning to that stage. This is only the second time this postseason – home or away – that the Warriors enter a contest as underdogs.

Mavs vs. Warriors Game 4: 3 Keys to Watch (Sports Illustrated)

The Dallas Mavericks seek to avoid getting swept by the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals. Here's what we're looking for in Game 4.

The Mavericks are up 3-0 in the Western Conference Finals, didn't you know? They are up 3-0 in shot quality score but are 0-3 in the actual series itself — meaning, they are not executing the type of looks they are generating at a sufficient rate. The Warriors have been very straightforward in their defensive strategy. As shown in Game 3, Curry can make incredible plays when the offense stagnates and requires him to do so. There's little to lose considering no team has ever recovered from a 3-0 series deficit in playoff history. However, avoiding getting swept will be the goal in Game 4.

We go over how you can watch Game 4 of the 2022 Western conference finals between the Warriors and Mavericks.

If you aren’t around a TV to check out this NHL matchup, you can stream the game on Watch TNT or via the TNT App. But keep in mind that you need a cable-login subscription. The Mavericks have failed to connect on triples at a solid rate, and that’s impacted the team defensively as well. Stephen Curry continued his brilliance offensively, while the Warriors caught some breaks with Dallas’ three-point shooters going cold for the entire game.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Golden State Warriors odds, picks: Warriors to ... (New York Post)

In a win-or-go-home Game 4 for the Dallas Mavericks, expect more of the same from the Warriors, with these two bets topping the list.

He’s on the court, he gets plenty of volume, and he takes – and makes – plenty of 3-pointers. He’s coming off a playoff career-high 27 points, and has at least 16 points in his last four games. Outside of Luka Doncic, Dallas simply can’t hang, and I expect the Warriors to put an exclamation point on their Western Conference Finals sweep tonight. Yeah, you can take the spread of +1.5 at (-115) on BetMGM, but if you, like me, believe that Golden State is going to continue its dominance in Game 4, then why not take the alternate spread? No NBA team has ever come back to win in a best-of-seven series when trailing 0-3, meaning the Mavericks will have to make history if their season is to continue. Golden State is better than Dallas in essentially every single stat throughout this series.

After Doncic and Green stood in the lane together laughing about that, the ball was eventually knocked down. All others ahead of him are either in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, are still active players, or are retired and not yet eligible for Hall induction - such as Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki. One was dropping water near the Golden State bench, and at the other end of the court water appeared to be falling in the stands. Draymond Green went to the free throw line midway through the third quarter and his first attempt came to a complete stop on the wide back side of the rim. The moment also recognized a teacher-coach from Palestine, Texas, who was killed when his car was hit by a wrong-way driver when driving the just more than 100 miles home from Game 3 on Sunday night. It was the second such delay this season in the 21-year-old building. Golden State was up 31-29 after a jumper by Moses Moody, then had only one made basket the next seven minutes. A moment of silence just before tipoff came hours after an 18-year-old gunman opened fire at a Texas elementary school about 375 miles away in Uvalde, Texas, which is west of San Antonio in the southern part of the state. Only three of the 146 teams to fall in that deep hole have even been able to force a seventh game. The Mavericks have been swept in a best-of-seven only once in their 34 such series. But they never got closer even after Curry and other starters returned to the floor. ''Just got to finish the game.

Mavs Avoid Sweep Against Warriors on Emotional Day in Dallas (Sports Illustrated)

The Mavericks avoided elimination against Golden State, but the focus wasn't just on basketball for both teams.

I’m tired of the moments of silence. While both teams performed professionally, it was hard not for Game 4 to feel especially trivial in light of the horrific event. He took no questions, and pounded the table as he called on Congress to do more to combat gun violence. The Dubs trailed by as much as 29 points in the second half, until a bench unit cut the lead to only eight points in the fourth quarter. Dallas was finally able to take advantage of the Warriors on Tuesday, recording their first win of the series as it heads back to the Bay with the Dubs still up 3–1. The Mavs’ 119–109 win in Game 4 came on the strength of their outside shooting, as their threes finally started to drop like the rain through the leaky roof of Dallas’s arena. Jason Kidd read a prepared statement, and declined to answer a basketball question, saying he was not able to given the circumstances, his voice soft as he tried to gather his thoughts.
