The rounding of the bases and he comes into the dugout, and I switch to a different camera. His first thought was the same as Karros’ before — that he was going to get hit by a pitch. “It was almost slow-mo to me because Shawn is so fluid of a swing and how he almost looked like he was just in sync with the pitcher,” Hansen says. “I remember it was a big, big celebration.” We’re indoors and the roof is closed, and it was loud — like a cannon.” “I had a good sense that they were going to throw me in just because I hit those couple of home runs earlier in the series, and the book on me was to pound me in so I didn’t get my arms extended,” Green says. “(Cabrera’s) style of pitching kind of fit well with where I wanted the ball, and he kind of threw a big sinker/changeup and those are the pitches I preferred. On the second pitch of the at-bat, he made what he considers his best contact of the afternoon. “I had never seen him before, and I was really big on watching guys tipping their pitches, and I kind of thought I saw what he was going to,” Green says. “I thought he was tipping his pitch for a slider, and he threw a slider. It was his only plate appearance of the afternoon where he saw more than three pitches. “And yeah, so that three home runs, I was struggling.”
