Liverpool are sweating over the fitness of both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk ahead of the final day of the Premier League season.

Klopp said earlier in the week: “They are both okay. The target for both would be that they would be involved again at the weekend. After suffering injuries in the FA Cup final last weekend, both Salah and Van Dijk missed the win over Southampton in midweek and Jurgen Klopp is yet to confirm whether they will be fit to face Wolves.

Liverpool vs Wolves Preview: Probable Lineups, Prediction... (The Hard Tackle)

Liverpool will hope for a miracle to win the Premier League title when they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool should be comfortable for the most part against Wolves, who will barely carry a threat on the break. As iterated earlier, Wolverhampton Wanderers already seem to be in vacation mode, which bodes well for Liverpool ahead of their final day Premier League excursions. While he might not make the starting eleven, Salah will likely feature off the bench, making for a daunting prospect for Wolves in the second half. - Liverpool are unbeaten in all six of their closing day Premier League games under Jurgen Klopp (W5 D1), winning the last five in a row. At the same time, Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho’s fitness situation will be interesting to note. - Liverpool are unbeaten in their most recent 22 Premier League home games (W17 D5), scoring 53 goals and conceding just ten. Fabinho should also be preserved for the UEFA Champions League final, with Klopp expected to introduce him in the second half to get some rhythm under his belt. With Saiss and Kilman unavailable, Lage had to deploy Toti Gomes in the central defensive unit. Jonny Otto and Rayan Ait-Nouri will flank the two central midfielders, with the duo providing width higher up the pitch. Gomez, who picked up his injury against Southampton, was unlikely to feature anyway and will miss out versus Wolves. Finally, Alisson Becker picks himself between the sticks. The reverse fixture ended in a 1-0 win for Liverpool, with Divock Origi scoring the match-winner deep into injury time. 2021/22 will probably go down as the greatest season in Liverpool’s storied history if things go their way in the coming week.

Given the prize at stake on Sunday, and the need to work Van Dijk and Salah back to sharpness ahead of the clash with Real Madrid, it seems feasible that both will start against Wolves. However, with the need to build fitness and rhythm ahead of the Champions League final, there is a likelihood that Salah and Van Dijk will be brought straight back in. Given both Salah and Van Dijk were involved in training two days before the Premier League closer, it is likely that Klopp will consider them as part of his squad.

Liverpool vs Wolves Picks and Predictions: Title Chase Falls Short (Covers.com)

On Sunday, we see the final slate of Premier League games with all still to play for. Liverpool still have dreams of winning the Premier League title as ...

He’s a talented red and is very good at protecting some of the league’s best players. Wolves play very conservatively on the road and focus on limiting the opposition's chances, trying to escape with either a draw or stealing a goal and getting a win. However, the Reds are too good and too focused on the Premier League title to drop points at this juncture. At +360, it’s well worth a wager and it looks like the best value bet on the market. Anthony Taylor will be officiating this game and in the 27 Premier League fixtures that he’s taken charge of this season, we’ve seen 100 yellow cards, an average of 3.7 per game in addition to five red cards. Next season, I’m expecting to see progression but for now, they face a great Liverpool team with a number of injuries in defense, including Romain Saiss and the talented Maximilian Kilman, who’s been great this season. This is arguably the best title race in over a decade and now we go into the final day of the Premier League season still unsure who’ll win. Wolves' attack will include Raul Jimenez and Hwang Hee-Chan and as always, the fantastic Portuguese duo of Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho will play in central midfield. Virgil van Dijk should remain on the sidelines meaning Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate will sit at the heart of the defense in Liverpool’s 4-3-3. We’re 37 games into the Premier League and as we head into this final Sunday slate, everything is still up for grabs, from a relegation and Champions League spot all the way through to the Premier League title itself. On Sunday, we see the final slate of Premier League games with all still to play for. That’s where Liverpool find themselves as we prepare for this, their 38th Premier League game of the season.

We simulated Liverpool vs Wolves to predict final day Premier ... (Liverpool Echo)

Liverpool face Wolves at Anfield on Sunday afternoon where the Reds could potentially lift the Premier League title.

If the Reds win, they need to rely on Villa to stop Man City from winning in order to claim the trophy. After receiving the ball outside the box, Jota fired a powerful effort towards the far corner that was well saved by Sa, but the 'keeper couldn't hold the ball as he conceded possession. We used FIFA 22 to get a score prediction for Liverpool versus Wolves on Sunday and this is what happened... Diogo Jota was introduced at half-time for Firmino, and the Portugal international got himself on the scoresheet 10 minutes later. The game against Southampton saw Liverpool make wholesale changes to their starting XI, with the likes of Takumi Minamino and Harvey Elliot receiving rare starts. For the title to fall into the Reds' hands, Jurgen Klopp's side must win against Wolves and hope Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa can either win or draw against Man City.

Liverpool vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers: Match Preview (Sports Illustrated)

So it all comes down to this... 37 matches have come and gone and the fate of Liverpool and their Premier League ambitions is once again at the hands of ...

A goal in favour of Salah is all that separates these two goal scoring juggernauts, but the award is, surprisingly, not on the priority list for Salah who is seeking a second Champions League victory. Pedro Neto and Raul Jimenez will look to influence the game in an attacking sense and if the Liverpool backline is caught napping, they are players who can certainly inflict punishment. To be part of this group, in this building, is exceptional. Jordan Henderson was fantastic in not only the Southampton game as the 6, but also in the Villerreal clash and FA Cup final. It's a fantastic time for a Liverpool supporter and we have to ensure we enjoy the last two games now. The battle of the Golden Boot between Mo Salah and Heung-min Son has almost reached its climax. Cult hero and Liverpool legend Divock Origi has (sadly) called time on his Liverpool adventure. Elliott's minutes have been well managed since returning from injury and his impressive display against Southampton may very well warrant him another start this weekend. Wolves are not coming to Anfield to simply roll-over either, they are a well-drilled side who are difficult to break down (as seen in the reverse fixture this season). Bruno Lage and his men will want to end the season on a positive note, and if that is at the expense of crashing Liverpool's party, so be it. Wolves have lost their final fixture in six of their seven Premier League campaigns, winning the other against Sunderland in 2010; whereas Liverpool have not lost a final league game at home since *that* infamous 1989 match against Arsenal. There is no room for error; glory awaits the victor. Whilst it would be ideal for the Liverpool trio of Fabinho, van Dijk and Salah to play this weekend and get back in to the rhythm of the game in preparation for Madrid, Klopp certainly won't risk his superstars from the start if they are not fully fit.

We have a talented group now, and we will have a talented group next year. And that’s what we will do. But we have to make a proper, proper machine of it and then we will go again and we will see." If they are going to play in two competitions [Premier League and Champions League] they maybe need a few more players but they will bring them in. And that’s what we always did. It’s up to us to judge what we make of that. “Nobody has to worry that the [present] gap will stay forever. Tottenham also held them to two draws in the league. But you do know that Erik ten Hag is arriving at Manchester United? And they don’t wait five years now or whatever – they will go big. Liverpool v Wolves: Premier League – live! (The Guardian)

Will Liverpool dramatically overhaul Manchester City at the top of the Premier League this afternoon? Find out with Simon Burnton.

It’s the most exciting because seeing how good the boys are and seeing the steps that we’ve made and just two games to go. Once again it goes down to the final day of the season, with Liverpool realistically needing to beat Wolves and for City to drop points against Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa. “I’ve been lucky enough to have had a few exciting times,” Klopp said. It is little surprise that Jürgen Klopp is enjoying the time of his life as he prepares to lead Liverpool into a season-defining week. Has been a wild and thrilling ride, in which four points have been dropped from a possible 51, and if there is to be one more twist in the tale today it will be the stuff of instant legend. The last time Liverpool won the title on the final day of the season was in 1986, when they needed to beat Chelsea to hold of Everton’s surge. It was appropriate that he should crown his first extraordinary season in an extraordinary job by thwarting the title challenge of the old enemy on Merseyside, Everton, with a goal whose conception and execution represented his super talent at its finest.

Four things spotted in Liverpool vs Wolves as Thiago brilliant but ... (Liverpool.com)

Liverpool belatedly got the job done against Wolves, but by then Steven Gerrard and Aston Villa had already lost their two-goal lead.

It has been an excellent debut season, and the odd mistake has to be accepted as a fair price to pay for an elite centre-back of the future. He made no mistake, squaring the ball for a tap-in. Having played a key role in the equaliser against Wolves, he could be seen galvanising his teammates, setting the standards for those around him. He has brought all of the same passion to Liverpool. There is a shred of comfort in the fact that Liverpool did their job, but it was a cruel way to end the domestic campaign. But in the end, as has been the case all season, both of the title contenders did their jobs.
